Thrawn42689 Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004 Poly-by-poly Utahraptor WIP. If I could find a gracious good samaritan to animateandvehicleify it, that would be byootiful. What's everyone think? dot dot dot dot dot dot dot dot dot dot dot dot dot dot dot dot dot dot dot dot dot dot dot dot I know the polycount's higher than most models, but hey. Rules were made to be broken. And I'm just showering this model with lurrrve.
Thrawn42689 Posted July 21, 2004 Author Posted July 21, 2004 Hmm...I wonder why the images turned into links...it's a conspiracy I tells you!
tFighterPilot Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004 Speaking of polys, how many of them does your model have? It looks fine, but I can't know by looking at a screenshot.
Thrawn42689 Posted July 21, 2004 Author Posted July 21, 2004 Right now it's a little over 1000. I spent a lot of them on the face I know it's high for a potential vehicle, but I consider him a character. Also, I'm gearing up for next-gen games.

Just try to keep the legs low, nobody looks at them anyway

Zappa_0 Posted July 22, 2004 Posted July 22, 2004 Woah....Welcome to Jurassic Park!!! SithJ will love this because hes making a Jurassic Park map!
Zappa_0 Posted July 22, 2004 Posted July 22, 2004  You most certainly have to make a T-Rex next!
tFighterPilot Posted July 22, 2004 Posted July 22, 2004 I'd never use the Poly-by-poly methood. Cuz although brings great results, it's much harder than how I do things. Start with a blob and adds details along the way.
Thrawn42689 Posted July 22, 2004 Author Posted July 22, 2004 Yeah, it is a bit tedious, but I can't figure out how to get it the way I want it otherwise.

Thrawn42689 Posted July 22, 2004 Author Posted July 22, 2004 But of course. My meshsmooth smoothes too much though.

After a while of working with it, you learn how it works. You learn when to create an edge, when to collapse vertex and stuff like that.
