CortoCG Posted August 27, 2004 Posted August 27, 2004 I'm interested in finding out who, among the modellers, uses meshsmooth when it comes to low poly modelling (aprox. 3k polygons). - Answer the poll, but also post who does and who does not, so we can identify them and stablish a modelling tendency. - Do not post argues about the pros and the cons of using meshsmooth. An "I do", "I don't" will do. - If you do in special cases. Make a brief statement on which cases you do use meshsmooth. Let's keep this one clean please.
Psyk0Sith Posted August 28, 2004 Posted August 28, 2004 My low poly models are meshsmooth free...in other words: I don't.
Lil Killa Posted August 28, 2004 Posted August 28, 2004 I've only used mesh smooth one time. I used it after I had made the basig block form of a hand and then I smoothed it with mesh smooth and then choped polys off till I has happy with it. (I collapsed the modifier stack before choping ) But yeah.... sometimes it can be usefull.... I also use it when I start adding smoothing groups to my models. so I can see what a super high poly version of the model would look like I then delete the mesh smooth....
LightNinja Posted August 28, 2004 Posted August 28, 2004 i do in very very special classes , but now i use a 8 faces cilynder and then i star extruding, cutting, etc..
HapSlash Posted August 28, 2004 Posted August 28, 2004 I've never used meshsmooth, or polychop either for that matter. Move 'em all by hand, cut, extrude, move, weld, collapse,...
CortoCG Posted August 28, 2004 Author Posted August 28, 2004 Heh, I posted the rules, but never said if I use or not meshsmooth. I don't. I'm from the old school like Hap, Kesh and Psyk0.
Shady-D Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 I might not be popular or known in jka moddeling community but yeah, im also with hand by hand, no meshmooth nor polycop, :/ well guess its just how ppl wanna model, as long as the results are good i guess
ModAbuse-(tFP) Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 Just let it go Corto. The subject has been discussed enough.
