Won't play if not TRUE Star Wars

Torch

Recommended Posts

I wondered how many people won't like this game because it doesn't replicate the Star Wars universe to the minutest detail.

I am happy that it is based on Star Wars and that finally there will be a ps2 game that allows you to pilot a huge range of vehicles anywhere you like.

I have noticed a few posts where people are upset that dark troopers are on Endor, or Droidekas can pilot vehicles, etc.

I'm really not bothered by this. The game looks to be very playable as it stands.

Also, I want to be able to play as different factions on planets they don't strictly belong on. I want to see how the imperials would fare against the republic. Again, not bothered that the imperials were born out of the republic.

Me too , Im a Big star wars fan but after all is a GAME and i hate it when they try to be to realistic(in the sence of the SW universe)

I think it would be a good thing to have the republic against the rebels etc, I m sure others have thaugjht I wonder what a battle between the Empire and the republic would be like.

The game is for fun. If people want realism, they can make a mod. They did that for BF42.

Besides the Star Wars universe in general is often full of holes that they have to patch up later.

Dont get me wrong, love Star Wars and have read many of the books. Star Wars is not about reality.

i think that you should be able to play as open ended as youwant, so anything goes as far as people on planets, and oponent races. if you dont want to join those games than dont, but alot of people will enjoy such games.

one thing though, i dont see how a droideka can poilet a vehicle, but it doesn't bother me that mcuh :)

This game is about the playing experience and not following exactly what happened in the movies.

If it was exact then the Rebels would always lose Hoth. (How much fun is that to know you are going to lose?)

Rebels would always win Endor etc...

The characters were picked because they "balance" out the sides for each team.

The Droideka is powerful but it can really move fast when firing.

Darktrooper is slow as well and can't fly that high.

Rebel Heavy Weapons gets 2 Torpedos per shot (unless they changed it) because he's got to stop Walkers and such.

Etc.......

This game is going to be about tactics and not being the "Rambo" as you have to work together to win the battles against the different types of foes.

Although a few "Rambo" tactics might change the course of the game as well.

Oh, and I agree with Torch as well.

This game is going to bring a large group of fans together to have a great time. I look forward to playing with you all when it comes out.

I just hope they get the feel right, you know? So far Rogue Squadron: Rebel Strike has had the best representation of a movie battle I've seen (Batle of Hoth) in a game. No other game has ever really gotten them right, just as they appear in the movie. In the Clone Wars, The Battle of Geonosis was wierd, etc. I want to see the maps to look like the movie scenes.

But as far as anything else goes, I only care if it's fun. I don't want them to not have a unit on a planet because of continuity.

And I want to be able to play whatever I want. I'd like to try a separatist/rebel matchup, in some sort of fun, quick battle mode. I'm not saying I want the campaign to feature the historic "The Battle of Red Separatists versus the Blue Separatists on Hoth," just the oppurtunity to mess around a bit in single player battles.

Overall, I just care more about fun and gameplay than continuity. They can't force players to fight impossible matchups like Empire vs. Republic, but it'd be nice to have the option for those who'd like to try.

EDIT: I just remembered. I think that having an impossible matchup battle mode would be sort of a cool unlockable thing when you beat the game or soemthing. I don't know. Thoughts?

I'm with william. I'll enjoy the game as it is, not to be bothered by laser colours etc (wookiee bowcaster). But, will never play rebels vs seperatists or clones vs imperials. It's not a game default either, the devs should be crazy to allow that since the factions are balanced to their counterpart. Clones got nice stuff for droids, rebels don't.

Good point, those anti-droid equipment bothers me a bit. Though they can be made effective against humans aswell. Have them stun the human for a couple of secconds. Other than that I think all factions are balanced vs each other, why wouldn't they be? Besides Rebels can just shoot the droids or blast em with normal granades I really don't see the problem other than "It's not the right way", that's why I have suggested two different server options for the server keepers, one with pre-set factions and other with votable factions

Battlefront is awesome. I mean because it is Star Wars it's already good in my book. But because it is Star Wars, it will never seem finished until that entire universe of content is in the game. That is ALOT. Considering that, I think Battlefront really excells at capturing the overall feel of being in an actual Star Wars battle better than any other game before it. Star Wars battle . As we all know, as much as we love Star Wars, on a purely logical train of thought not all things Star Wars make sense. But we don't care, and in some cases, that is exactly why we love it so much. It's not the logic, but the feeling of epic cinema that we are drawn to. And in that respect I really think Battlefront is onto something here. Technology will only get better and to the benefit of Battlefront, which I truly feel is here to stay. We would all love to expand on it as much as currently possible and perhaps even looking ahead. Some of my all time favorite scenes from the trilogies have been not only recreated, but captured for the players to live for themselves. It's a great feeling and I imagine this game can only get better with time.

People talk about how they won't mind the Separatists fighting Rebels and the Imperials fighting the Republic, but think about this team swapping for another second. In Battlefield 1942, would it be acceptable to have the Americans fighting the British or the Germans fighting the Italians? No, it would be stupid because those scenarios deviate from the basis of the game: World War II. Going back to Battlefront, it is a Star Wars game. The basis is the movies. Therefore, the team swapping is stupid too. If you want to change the team faceoffs, make a mod.

Another idea to note is that Rebels were balanced against Imperials and Separatists were balanced against the Republic. By team swapping, the original balance would be destroyed.

i am a huge star wars fan but it would not bother me if it were not 100% SW.

when i first saw the imp officer i was very dissappointed there was nothing special about him.

i do wish that there was more orignality put into the special unit for the imps [i mean there is alredy two special jetpack units] but all-in-all i do not mine the inclusion of EU uints and ideas.

BOOYAH!!!

What do you mean there was nothing special about him? He could order orbital strikes without the use of a Recon Droid, summon a Probe Droid for scouting, discover Rebel Spies, and supply medpacs and ammo... you don't call that special?

i think it is better for the medics and scouts to share those special if the imp officer was still in it would not be fair to the other classes of the different factions

geeze, if you're that concerned with "realness," don't buy the game. The game is fun.

I suppose it's real that 1 out of 5 rebels were wookies?

I suppose it's real there was a big battle on Cloud City?

I suppose it's real there was a big battle on Kamino?

NO game is exactly Star Wars. Geeze, who cares if the rebels fight the seperatists, it's a GAME. I think it would be interesting. Why have to make a mod when it would be such a simple part of the released game. Man, Star Wars geeks must die.

5 classes doesn't mean 20% of the players should be one class only. You mostly got soldiers (40% or more usually) since they're the easiest to master and "generally" got the easiest weapons to frag other infantry. I don't think i'll see many wookiees (its better to learn now how to spell it because pad's and TK's eyes see all ;)

Game wont be completely like the movies of course (the battles you mentioned) but i dont think its that weird that things like the colours of lasers upset people, thats a bit big since it influins all battles. Its stuff like that what bothers those true sw feeling guys, not just 1 or 2 maps.

If they'd only include the maps you really saw massive battles on, they'd be too few for a game and even you wouldn't like it i presume
