Aleggy Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 ok i own the star wars trilogy on vhs i own the special editions on vhs and i own the dvd trilogy and for me it was just a little frustrating that they are all different so here is ur chace to rant and rave or just chat about the difference while at the same time say wich version u prefered
Aleggy Posted October 13, 2004 Author Posted October 13, 2004 for me the original didn't really need tampering with although i'll admit some of the changes mad where good there were also some very bad changes i.e. in the original star wars Han Solo shoots Greedo under the table in the special edition Greedo shoots first and misses at point blank range

I liked the s.e. because of the additronal footage that wasn't able to be put into the original, like Jabba talking to Han and especially the robot that smackes the little robot but there were downsides as well like you said, Han & Greedo and they changed too much in the dvd's like adding the younger Annikin at the end.

[/sarcasm] Actually I like all the Star Wars movies and all the versions of them, only 2 things bug me... The prequel Midichlorian schlock! And in OT Han Solo not shooting Greedo first, that is utter BS!! That one scene in the cantina defined Solo's character, that and his non-chalant attitude leaving the cantina afterward, casually tossing some credits to the bartender and saying "sorry about the mess" this stated to us who he really was as a scoundrel type.

I very much so dig the clarity of the DVD's. Not so much into Lukes color changing saber in ANH or Vaders pink saber. Yep, well maybe. If your talking about the rodian jumping around at the end of the pod race then no, thats not Greedo. If your talking about the deleated scene where Anakin tries to kick a rodians teeth down his throat (hmm do rodians have teeth?), then yeah thats Greedo. *Takes off his Geek Hat*

Aleggy Posted October 15, 2004 Author Posted October 15, 2004 the problem is some changes were good some were bad i mean the scene in where han solo walks on jabba's tail is a mixture coz the scene itself was needed for the story so the fact that they had han solo walking behind jabba was a problem and having him step on his tail did look bad but i can forgive that because the addition of the scene was a good idea as it adds to the story

Not that the PT are bad or anything, which they are not, the OT just has an extra character spark that the PT doesn't, the PT are far more visually stunning than the OT was, but that is just simple progress.
