Leper Messiah
however this trailer for the pendragon book-faithful version of war of the worlds shows not one special effects shot which seems to collaberate rumours that the director is still trying to muster the funds to complete the movie. it looks so good too *metal-head sniffle* http://stuffo.howstuffworks.com/wotw-hinestwo.htm
Darth Groovy
I have to say that even though I have been VERY EXCITED about the idea of a remake for WOTW, being faithful to Well's vision, that is one crappy trailer. Even for a teaser, that trailer cannot hope to spark even the slightest interest in anyone what so ever. In fact that is even worse than the Batman Begins teaser trailer. Maybe I am just spoiled at how good teh Episode III teaser trailer turned out to be.
Redwing
... I've seen fanmade trailers for nonexistent movies that outstrip that by a long shot. :/ Huh...

Yeah, same here. Were you on the net when the bogus Episode II trailer was the most popular thing on the net? Looking back, I think that trailer was actually better than most of the actual movie. Leper Messiah
the trailer does at least establish that the film will be iron clad to the book if it ever gets released though. the film is not exactly high budgeted im not sure how theyre going to manage some of the scenes that the film requires. I'm excited about a faithful period based movie, but if you don;t have the big budgets you just can't compete these days... Why coudn't spielberg have decided to do a faithful version??? Um sorry to correct you, but that DOES fit the time line of the original H.G. StormHammer
Originally posted by General Agamemnon i hate you groovy....i really do I WAS REFERING TO THE ORIGINAL RADIO BROADCAST AND LATER THE MOVIE! The radio broadcast and movie were based on the ORIGINAL novel (written in 1898). So effectively they bastardised it to make it 'current' - and only partially succeeded. I would really want a properly adapted War Of The Worlds not to suck - but judging by that trailer, it's a small hope. I have to applaud them for sheer nerve trying to make a film like this on a small budget. No doubt any Spielberg 'adaptation' will be a runaway success - and nothing like the original novel. Darth Groovy
Only time will tell if this movie turns out or not. It's been in production for well over two years now... I think it's on a low budget because most WOTW things that have come out since the successful George Pal movie in 1953, has been condensed sci-fi junk complete with a half assed spin-off TV series in the late 80's that used to make me gag. (its worth noting a CGI animated film of that is going into production soon) and there was a pretty good PC RTS game based on WOTW. the reason this particular production is low budget is the actual lack of funds that the film has, speilbergs effort (*wishes nasty things upon it*) is set to have the largest or one of the largest budgets of all time.
