yea cause flying is soo friggin limited

Space map you say, hmmmm. Let me think.......... Star Wars and a space map....hmph would it fit? Star, Space, Space, Star.......... Uh ya I think it just may work....They seem to fit together......... I don't know buddie you may have stumbled across something here..................

If only we had the ability to add maps of our own design.... maybe in a Galaxy near, in a time not so long from now.

Think about it, if you have basically a large area to fly and a few captial ships such as star destroyers and calamari cruisers, plus about 40-50 players, i think the engine could handle it. From what some of the guys in editing are doing, it seems that this game can handle quite a bit of stuff at once. I think you can also set the area for flying quite huge. HOWEVER, you would do well to keep the captial ship polygons to a minimum to minimize lag, plus if you're gonna try and do a death star, i would try and do something real innovative as it would take a sh!tload of polygons to model it, then you gotta texture it as well.

As for the editor, i read the devs are working on an editor that is really easy to use as it is being made wwith the XBOX in mind but released for both XBOX and PC. I do hope that once released that PC owners get a few extra perks as editing is much more involved on a PC.

Yeah, if just everybody would be so original :D

I'm not a modder, but I've seen the QtRadiant interface for editting jk games. I can't imagine that they will put together somnething that complicated for battlefront if X-box users will use it too (poor controllers). It'll probably be some point drag interface which is good for me because, as I said before, I'm not a modder. Where did you hear all this, could you give a link?

I dont think that it would be impossible, and everyone wants it. It will likely become an expansion pack.

Star Destroyer one end, not movable. 4 turrents. Lauching bay. Ties - Interceptors - Bombers

MonCalamari Cruiser the other end, not movable. 4 turrents and launching bay. X, A, Y, B wing fighters.

Neutral space station with turrents.

Objective Destroy the others ship or control the neutral point to take down their tickets. Plus you can drop bombs in space, look at ESB.

Buy Battle field 1942 and then download Galactic Conquest. It's at 4.2 now and version 5's probably going to make it so that you can't even crash in space (which you actually still can in R4).

There are two space maps, just for the record: Task Force Battle, which is essentially just a battle of imperial carracks and lancers verus rebel frigates and corvettes (and fighters for both sides), and Tanaab, which is an assault at an imperial space station where the rebels need to blow up some parked TIE fighters as well as a communications dish on the platform. Rebels get corvettes and a static frigate, as well as the Falcon and fighters. The imps get a static Star Destroyer, TIEs, and Carracks. Oh, and some turbo laser batteries.

There are also the unofficial maps like Circarpous IV Raid, which is a pure X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter dogfight, and Protect the Redemption, which is a map taking place over Endor's moon, where the rebels try to keep the imps from destroying the medical frigate.

And of course there's the Death Star I map.

But then again, it's an unfar comparison as GC is this non-profit project driven by unpaid amateurs who do it for no reason other than that it's fun, whereas SWBF is a published title made by proffesionals with tons of resources. Can't expect SWBF to be as good, can we :D ?Sorry, just had to rub it in.

Point is, if it's possible using the BF1942 engine, it's definetly possible with the SWBF engine. Empty space shouldn't be too laggy either, so the maps can be VERY big.

As for flying Star Destroyers and Calamarian Cruisers: I think making moveable objects of that size would cause too much lag. That's why you can't move them in GC, anyways.

Plus you can drop bombs in space, look at ESB.

It makes more sense that in engagements against enemy warships, they'd use torpedoes, though. That big hole in the TIE Bomber's port pod has to be a warhead launcher, with those two "fins" (like the ones at the end of the X-Wing's lasers) and all that.

I suppose that the bombs aren't "dropped", but rather fired/launched somehow, as space is, after all, zero-gravity. But that's nitpicking.
