The One Year Thread Redux

Recommended Posts

I often get suckered into buying products based on the hotness of the celebrity girl. Currently I have a giant crush on one Christy Carlson Romano, who is part of mighty fist of the Disney Empire. She sings to a moderate degree, and as such I dropped more than I would have liked ($12) on her CD-Album Music Storage Medium. Twelve was steep because she only has eight songs. I found it for $10 elsewhere, but someone apparently bought it there while I was absent and was forced to procure it elsewhere. As it is a Disney Ultra-Corp production, most of the songs are songs performed or recorded for Disney Media Products for the Consumption of Minors. Thusly I now own a CD with that song "Colors of the Wind." Nigh (is that how you spell that?) ten years ago I swore I would never own such an item.

You hear that? Its the winds of change.

Son of a bitch, that was a line in a Disney movie. Well, Pixar. I guess that's forgivable.

is it from pocahontas?

got to work today, and was told by my supervisor that friday will be my last day...

sooooooo........guess that means i'll get to see Revenge of the Sith on opening night!!!!! now, would that be at 12:01 May 19....meaning that i'd have to be at the theatre on the 18th in order to get my seat?

gonna get the tickets on sunday, as the place won't sell them before then...just hope i don't have to fight for them.

anyway...gonna move out w/my sister next month if all goes according to plan. just hope the place we move in allows yellow labs.

most of all though, i hope i can get a job that doesn't require college of any kind that will pay me at LEAST $8 an hour, and has weekends free.

somewhat depressing.....but if i don't do anything, that would be more depressing. one of the reasons why i stopped caring about failing basic. least i tried.

Road crews. Hard, boring work, but the pay's not bad and you *usually* don't work weekends if you get on with a good contractor.

EDIT: THE ROLLING STONES ARE COMING TO MONCTON!!!! Apparently we're the biggest venue (60,000 people) on their tour too! The Tragically Hip (huge Canadian band for those who don't know) are playing, and there's rumors of Santana and Peter Gabriel showing up too!

The show's September 3rd, tickets ($99.99+tx CAN) go on sale two weeks from Friday, and I intend to be camping out... *bounces*

5/9/05

Did a half day at work. Not much going on now that the semester is over.

Took a nap as soon as I got home. Watched the last couple of Clone Wars episodes on line when I got back up.

Getting pretty psyched for the next SW movie, despite my inner voice telling me not to expect too much.

Picked up the Ep. III book and started reading the first couple of pages... Ahh temptation! Must resist!

Although, I pretty much know the sequence of events that happens already,.. just not all the specific details.

Maybe I'll give in and read the whole thing...

Yes, the song Colors of the Wind is from that movie that I hate with the burning fury of a thousand suns.

Christy, on the other hand, I love with the burning fury of a thousand suns.

We have a phrase where I come from for times like these and that phrase is...well its hard to spell but your eyes shoot out of your head and become about five feet in diameter and your heart shoots out of your chest and you stomp one of your feet and then you howl like a wolf. Then little hearts come out of your and pop above your head. Floating in a prone position may also occur, but this might also be a result of smelling a fresh pie.

I can't wait to see Revenge of the Sith.

btw i'm prolly a secret agent or something.

I have no idea what they did to me when I passed out those 2 times in basic. Both times were with needles, so they're prolly tracking my every move!

In keeping with the theme of rampant crime, I finally saw Sin City last night...

It ripped my nuts off. That's how good it was. Seemed to be a running theme in the film too... It's hard to be smooth with your date when you're cringing with sympathy pains for some poor bastages boys every couple of minutes.

Can't wait to see it again, though! Loved the use of splashes of color in the black & white... I'm kinda curious as to how it was done.

Uhh... yeah, nut-ripping. :freakout:

Getting back to the topic of cute female singers (which is really far more pleasent,) I saw one today on VH1 when I was flipping through that totally grabbed my attention.

anna7.jpg

I guess her name is Anna Nalick. I'm really not too crazy about her music (which feels like Sarah McLachlan-lite, which when you really think about it, isn't much of anything at all...) but her eyes do something disturbing and surprising to me.

See more of her and the video here: http://www.annanalick.com/

Funny you mentioned Sarah McLachlan... Her eyes have the same thing goin' on, *especially* in person. I've been lucky enough to talk to her a few times before/after shows she's done here in the Maritimes, and if you're not careful, you can lose your train of thought completely just looking her in the eyes.

She's a bit of a goof when she wants to be, and she's sharp as a tack, too... Now that I think about it, she reminds me a lot of the girl I'm dating now.

I've worked a couple of Sarah McLachlan concerts, but I've never gotten up close and personal with her.

I like a lot of her music, especially the older stuff, which rocked hard (like "Into the Fire".) But she has gotten a bit "airy-er" lately.

I thought this girl was her at first, but I realized she was a bit too young, and the song wasn't good enough to be her.

But, DAMN! She's cute!!

I'm just proud that a down-homer like her made it big... She grew up in Halifax (about 2 hours from here, and where most of my extended family lives), and actually dated one of my cousins high school.

I'll have to check out your muse there, ed, once I get home from work...

Time for this stuff (playin' catch-up) again:

5/10/05

Took the day off. Slept late, and basically lazed around the house, trying to catch up on some rest.

Read a bit. Trying desperately to keep my hands off that damn Ep. III book by reading anything else that falls in front of my face.

5/11/05

Early morning at work. The commute in was weird, since the power was totally out at the train station, but the subway cars were running. Standing on a dark platform lit only by the unnatural green light of chemical glow-sticks before 8 in the morning is somewhat surreal.

Work was dull and uneventful. The college awards for the members of the staff. I didn't get anything this year, save my name printed up on the program recognizing my 5-year anniversary.

Got home, took a short nap. Watched some TV. Did a little reading. Played a level of Jedi Knight II, and another of Jedi Academy. Don't know what inspired me to do that.

Went to bed early.

My life has become just so very damn exciting that it's hard to put it all into words sometimes...

5/12/05

Found out that I'm working some stupid long hours again this weekend, so I decided to take Thursday and Friday off from work as well.

Slept in again. That's always a great feeling,... although it pretty much kills any chance of getting anything important done that day. Decided to take it easy on Thurs. and try to get through the list of chores and projects all on Friday.

Got an e-mail from someone I went to college with who I haven't really thought about in years. Spent a long time composing a response, trying to catch up on everything important that has gone down in my life in the last 7 or 8 years that it's been since I've seen him. Still waiting to hear back from him.

Did some more drawing, but I wasn't really very inspired, so nothing I did came out very good, and I think I ruined one drawing completely that was actually looking OK. Oh well, whatever... Since I'm not doing anything meant for anyone else to ever see, just exercizes mainly, I guess it really doesn't matter. I'll give it a few days and look at it again and see if I still feel that I went too far with it.

I gave up on drawing after a few hours and started playing guitar, but wasn't exactly inspired there either, so just ended up running scales and various mechanical exercizes just to try and keep limber.

5/13/05

Woke up early today to try to get through a whole list of things I really need to do,.. from getting a haircut, to getting my car washed and waxed. I don't feel like doing any of them, but I don't see how I'm gonna have time to do them this weekend, so I have to try to force myself to get it all done today.

EDIT:

Well, I managed to get my hair cut, the car washed, got to the bank, and pick up some stuff at Home Depot. Did some work in the yard until it got dark. Went out to dinner (Mmmm... bar-b-q steak tips! *Drool*)

Came home and watched my Friday night political shows on PBS. Did a little drawing before bed (much better results than yesterday...)

Now I got to get to work by 8am. I'll be there until at least 1am. Yippee.

last day of work on friday went good. gonna miss seeing those people i worked with. :( i'll never see them again. kindof a scary thought, really.

played galaxies til 4:30 am, slept til 1:30 am....played some more....joined a guild. good stuff.

went to the mall and picked out some dress clothes for the wedding..almost ripped a shirt trying to get it on, got another one instead, got home, its too big so i have to bring it back tomorrow...the worst thing about shirts for me is they are NEVER long enough, if they're long enough, they're not wide enough. makes me want to find the nearest tailor and cut them in the throat and drink their blood.

got home, watched Racing Stripes w/my sister. it was a pretty good movie. reminded me of Babe. (the movie)

gonna try to get tickets to the midnight showing of Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith tomorrow....the theatre starts selling them at 11:30, so gonna try to get there a half hour early.

been watching previews of it on tv, and it looks like it'll really tie into the movie, and palpy is turning into the evil geezer from return of the jedi....it's going to be freaking awesome.

went over my text message limit...owe $22 more to the damn phone bill. i'm pissed cause over HALF those messages never went through. 'message not sent' ****. grr...guess thats what i get for using it at work. :(

I have that problem with pants. My legs are...gigantic. I don't know where I got it from, but my legs are like tree trunks. I never did any weight training or anything, except for a year in high school, and they wouldn't even let me squat enough weight to make a difference there. So I guess it's a genetic thing. This has served we well in some areas, such as martial arts, where people feared being on the receiving end of a kick from me. And rightly so, as I could break ribs even through those heavy chest protectors without even trying.

As cool as that is, what is not cool is that I need to buy pants that are at least four inches too big in the waist just to have room for my legs. Since I need to wear dress pants every day at work, it becomes quite a task to find pants that don't make me look like a complete fricking idiot.

Well I found a shirt that fits nicely, exchanged the other one...i wear a 15 long and 38 waste...the one i had before was like a 42 waste and 17 long...shows how much i know about dress clothes!

I got my tickets. hell, the line wasn't even long. not to say there weren't campers out there, but only like what...30-40 people! watched the phantom menace last night w/my sister, gonna watch attack of the clones tonight, so i'm all caught up......funny how i've seen TPM like a million times, yet i've only watched attack of the clones like...at most 10. =\

I played galaxies alot yesterday since i didn't have work....level 74 right now. and i kick so much ass, i had a friendly duel (pretty much a fight where you only fight til the other is incapacitated, no killing) and i won. of course this was after i stalked the guy for like 5 hours...when i first foguth him, it was a mission, then i got rooted so i was like thinking i was gonna get my ass kicked, so i took the mission off and just had a little fun. he was only a jedi initiate anyway, so i did feel kinda bad for him. friendly dueled him without armor and i would've kicked his ass bad...

i turned in my time sheet yesterday, told the temp agency that i was gonna be gone til 2nd week of june. they saidto call em when i needed work, so that's cool..

speaking of vacation, the trip to canada was kindof cancelled, since like 5 people dropped it would've been an extra $250.....man......but anyway just me and my dad are going to a different spot which isn't as much i guess....lake ontario or something for the weekend, then head back to honesdale i guess, and go to a lake back there. it should be fun.

I'm really looking forward to moving, yesterday I cleaned out my closet, i got rid of so much crap that i've been holding onto....I wanted to get rid of my toy cars and stuff that i know i won't use but my family won't let me. lol guess i'll save em for my nephew, since i know im never gonna get married and much less have a kid.

today i have to get my dog's license renewed...that'll cost me $10. not sure what else i'll do today, my hair is growing back and annoying the heck out of me....summer really brings out the oils in my skin, and i hate that...

I can't wait for tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
