Rogue15
yeah a few days got skipped cause of the forum reboot or something, which messed it all up to begin with. i bought Half-Life 2. Pretty freaking awesome game so far!
edlib
We lost a couple of weeks of posts, a large chunk of June, when the reboot happened. That's when I gave up trying to do one for every day. I wasn't about to go back and try to replace all my posts that disappeared. Then there's little things like vacations that get in the way... Oh well,.. there's always next year to try it again!
Cmdr. Cracken
Not next year, we keep going! Had to wipe my HD with a system recovery on my laptop. lost my papers, notes for class, and my little political dissertaion in the works too. <explicitive deleted> so yeah, i'm peeved. nothing i can't recover from, but damned anoyying. In onther news, gogo SUNY Brockport. biatches. ^^
Rogue15
eh, hunting safety class sucks. it's so boring and a waste of 3 hours. just cause most of the people there are freaking kids. ugh. and i have a sore throat and cold on top of that so i just get more irritated. anyway. went to work today, it was lame. had to cut basil strips forever and i get yelled at cause they're not thin enough. **** that. -_- don't have to work at walmart so i'm just chilling at home playing half-life 2. washed the dishes...im so tired, but if i sleep that'll throw my schedule off. lukeskywalker1
Yeah, HL2's price has dropped... its like $25-30 at walmart now. I am tempted to buy it, but with my video card I really don't want to have to play with graphics on low Oh well. Thats why I am mainly using consoles now. Cmdr. Cracken
Consoles are for the poor.... until xbox 360 comes.... gawd..... what a piece of crap. In other news, my uncle is in town visiting, i haven't seen him since i was 13. good to see family. He looks and sounds almost like my grandfather. except he isn't at all like a 80 year old jackass with a stick up his butt. kinda creepy. and i now laugh at SUV's. i get 30 MPG. Small cars for the win! point and giggle folks, point and giggle.
edlib
I've had a couple of long days at work since I've got back. Our first big show of the year is tonight, and we're still trying to learn the new mixing console and gear. It's been a bit exciting and scary. We're still doing tweaks on the setup too... as we go, we keep finding things we overlooked or forgotten about, and have to pause to take care of. Once it's up and running it should be much easier to use overall. It's now just a matter of getting it to the point where we can work on it the way we want to and getting comfortable on it. My big "D'Oh!" moment of the day: We bought a new laptop to interface with the mixing board (an IBM Think Pad tablet.) As I was setting it up, I went to lock it down with a new Kensington laptop lock. In the process, I inadvertently changed the combination on the lock. Now I have to figure out what it is ... out of a thousand possible combinations... fun. Fortunately it happened before I actually locked the PC down, or my life would be truly miserable. Oh well... at least I know what I'll be doing for the entire afternoon.
Nute Gunray
and i now laugh at SUV's. i get 30 MPG. Small cars for the win! point and giggle folks, point and giggle. SUVs are pulling close to 30 mpg these days. And 30 is terrible for a small car. Big monster four door sedans are in the 35 mpg range. Small cars are up around 40 now. My parent's new Honda Element gets 27 mpg. My Neon doesn't even get that.
lukeskywalker1
Consoles are for the poor.... until xbox 360 comes.... gawd..... what a piece of crap. Consoles for the poor? What? I buy the console for the games... can you get Soul Calubur on PC? What about the newest Metal Gear Solid games? Or Zelda? No. Do I have to upgrade my console? No. Can I have a sweet four player Multiplayer match with friends in the same room on a PC? Yeah, with a LAN... which requires 4 computers and plenty of space. Or.... I can just hook up my GameCube to a TV, plug in 4 controllers and go all out in a FFA match.

edlib
I thought it was unusually quiet around here since I've been back. Now I know what was missing... Welcome home! If you are anything like me your first week of work back will be totally exhausting, and you'll need another vacation right away... causing you to wonder if taking a vacation was all that great an idea in the first place. I spent the whole weekend trying to recover from the couple of days I spent at work this week.
Keyan Farlander
Yeah, and this week is going to be be especially bad because I am in final bug fixing mode, and there were no doubt around 57,000 bugs reported when I was gone. You know, I hated school, but the three months off every year really made up for it...

Cmdr. Cracken
i never liked fishing, i find it boring, and well........ kinda stupid. I know some find it relaxingm but still, honestly, just buy it. then again, i may say this because i am naturally lazy. ^^
edlib
I'm kind of in the same, er... boat there, Crack (uh,.. sorry.) Fishing is my idea of nothing to do. I never got into it. Slammed one of my fingers last night carrying an air-conditioner out to my mom's car. The screen door swung back and the handle made contact right on the nail of my right hand ring finger. Hurts like hell. Very swollen and throbbing. (And normally when I think of a body appendage that's swollen and throbbing, it often has a far more pleasant connotation. Not in this case. This I could do without.) It's making typing miserable too... Flew solo on the new mixing console for the first time last night. Kinda scary, but fortunately it was an easy, easy show. It's going to take a long time before I get totally comfortable on it, but once I do, it will make life far more easy than before. Yay!
Ikhnaton
SUVs are pulling close to 30 mpg these days. And 30 is terrible for a small car. Big monster four door sedans are in the 35 mpg range. Small cars are up around 40 now. My parent's new Honda Element gets 27 mpg. My Neon doesn't even get that. What exhaust pipe are you smoking? unless you're talking about Japanese or Korean SUVs, you'd be hard pressed to find any SUVs that get above low 20's in the MPG arena. Carmakers are still cranking out gas guzzlers like there is no end to the demand and it is only the Japanese (with the exception of the Ford Escape) that are interested in hybrids to make SUVs more fuel efficient. It's the same with sedans. Only the best Japanese carmakers get close to 40 mpg, the rest are still in the 20s.
Kylilin
I second that... My wife and I recently went car shopping, we looked at the small SUVs (Honda CRV, Chevy Equinox, Ford Escape, Mazda Tribute), and the best one in terms of gas mileage was the CRV which got about 27 mpg. So, the CRV was the winner for us, for a lot of other reasons than the gas mileage, but it didn't hurt...
edlib
Bought and watched a copy of The Hitchhikers Guide DVD. Still liked it. Could have used a bit more bonus features, but I wasn't disappointed. Have to sit down and go through the commentaries soon. Also watched O Brother, Where Art Thou? I saw it a long time ago, when it first hit video. I'm torn as to which Coen Brothers film I like more: The Big Lebowski, or this one. It's kind of a toss up... Lebowski's funnier overall, but this one is much better produced, and the music is killer. I also bought (but haven't watched yet) Kill Bill Vol. 2 and Airplane 2. Bought some cat food at the pet store, too.
Keyan Farlander
Well, I finshed X-Wing Alliance tonight. I had done everything except the Death Star Tunnel Run before I went on vacation. I didn't have a chance to pick it back up until tonight. But I finished it, with the rank of General and the Diamond Eyes for the Kalidor Crescent. Yeah, I've still got it First time I've played through the game in a few years. Was a lot of fun. Maybe I'll play some Balance of Power next. Rogue15
eh this week is a good week....sortof. i get payed by both pizza hut and walmart....walmart checks are the best cause only taxes are taken out. i have like $23 a week taken from starbridge insurance. need to get new glasses or contacts ASAP.....-_- would rather get the contacts... finally get a day off tomorrow (tuesday)...i've been working 7am-9:30pm every day. 7-1:30 at pizza hut and 2-8:30/9:30 at walmart. I'll be closing in on a $.03 raise one of these days....
edlib
Well, I finished X-Wing Alliance tonight. Hmmm... I've been thinking about doing just that very thing lately. Seeing some of the upgraded OPTs that some folks have done really made me want to dust off the ol' joysticks (literally... they are both encrusted in a thickish layer) and give it a whirl again. Now all I have to do is install it, troubleshoot it with XP, download and install all the XWA upgrade packages, and then find time to go through it all again... which just might be easier said than done. Why is it that I seem to have far less free-time than I did as little as 5 years ago?
