I wonder if Playstation will stick with the name PS3. After awhile, it might become like those damned "Now #" CD's!

Remember the PS2 commercial? It had some dude with a tiny console in the palm of his hand, and it was called PS9. At the end they said something like "But for now you'll have to settle with the PS2."

Dang, things just keep getting faster and faster.

Just wait, when It finally comes out, its going to have a 1.8ghz CPU at most.

Hell the Specs of the Xbox is a lot worse than the cheapest Dells, yet it runs 10X better.

Sith, shut yo mouf before I have to explain the System+Games=Profit to you. :p

And what proof do you have that Sony wants people to make their PS3 into a Linux?

TiE

The hell are you talking about? I said sony encourages people making their PS2's into linux machines. I didn't say they WANT people to, but that they encourage it.

What are you talking about system+game=profit? I never said anything against any of what you said.

Im not saying anything bad to you :p

Im just saying it would be stupid to support PS2s being turned into Linux computers. Because if people don't buy games for the console, the console maker losses money.

PS2 lost money on the DVD out of the box feature cause people would just buy it to play DVDs.

Thats why Xbox makes you buy the remote to play movies, and why they don't want people to turn them into Linuxs.

MS finally turned a profit on the 'box cause of Halo 2.

Those consoles are worth a lot more than $150

I already said, you can play games with the Linux installed. They don't lose money, they gain money.

Xbox is a micrsoft product, they aren't going to allow linux to be installed on a microsoft product, but people still do it, it's just not officialy allowed.

I suggest you stop posting until you know what you're talking about.

HI.

I never bought the ps2 or xbox. I thought the PC would do. I bought me a new PC and it costed arounf $500 and my games still didn't run as smooth as a ps2 would have. later my motherboard fried and I had to pay $200 (same price as a game console) for a new mother board plus video card upgrades. I should have got a game console.

Now I want to buy a next gext generation game console instead of a new PC. cheaper and will run smoother. I wonder witch one I'll buy.

I don't want to support bill gates into taking over the game console world as he did with the pc world. however the new elderscrolls game will be on xbox 2 along with a few other games ill want to play. maybie it will be on PS3 as well.

What do you think?

It was a barebone system. the fact is that it costed more than a game console. my point is made.

What other choice do you have?

PS2 or Nintindo Game Cube.

I was talking about the fact that he is trying to ta over the GAME CONSOLE world . He already took over the PC world.

No Gates hasn't. Not every little program or hardware element is made by Microsoft.

So no, he hasn't "taken over the PC world".

Linux and Macs still exist.

There are games that lag on consoles. It isn't always smooth and it has lower res. and lower quality textures.

We'll see what happens with the next gen consoles.

I know the vast majority uses windows but it still doesn't mean everyone uses it.

Mac and Linux still exist because they do some things better then Windows can.

As a matter of fact, there are plenty of FREE softwares for Linux out there that survive on donations and funding from certain independant companies. He cannot crush Linux that easily. So no, he doesn't "leave" it there.

I've heard Gates owning part of Apple but as far as I know, it isn't enough to have any power over anything.

He's had stock in them for a long while now. Nothing new.

No amount of money in the world will crush linux, it's here to stay, and it will continue to grow. Want to know why? People love free stuff. And many love giving free stuff.

Also, gates isn't some corporate fiend out to control everything, he just wants his life to be easier, like all of us. Infact he actually has little say in what all goes on.
