Whoa whoa WHOA. Sry if I caused a stir. I had no idea it was illegal b/c i figured they were both on the same engine, used the same models, textures, and animations for most things, and not to mention are both owned by the same company. I guess I was wrong, no reason to get all upity about it. But could that problem not be fixed by adding a disclaimer to the release stating that this mod is intended for those owning both games and thus have legitimately purchased the skins in question? It's worked on other games that I've seen modded (releases for Counter-Strike with Condition Zero arm models was made legal this way). Just think about it, all you need to do is make known your intention that it not be used illegally and then the only ones doing anything illegal would be the ones who use it so.

Let's not bring this thread off-topic. This has been discussed in the past so let's not hijack wingzero2525's thread.

We have set forum rules to the effect that we do want discussions about porting assests from one game to another, no matter if the person owns both games or not. We have to set boundaries for forum discussions and this is where the line has been traced in order to prevent abuse.

Back on topic now. It's not like wingzero2525 didn't find a solution ;)

If you want to set this up as a seperate appearance with it's own selectable head and everything I think I've escaped my slump enough I could lend you and Darth Melignous a better hand now. Send me a PM with details of what the problem is and I'll see how I can help.

I assume you want to make this a PC selectable head for appearance?

Lets go simple first.

open your appearance.2da file there should be 3 lines for the female body type that your original PC had uses a Large, Maedium, & Small. Copy these 3 lines to the bottom of your appearance.2da and change the row numbers to corespond. Next change the name of the head in these rows so lets say it's PC_H_F_C_01(I can't recall the naming structure off the top of my head.) rename it WZ_H_F_J_01 or something of that nature. Save your appearance.2da for now but keep it open we will come back to it shortly.

Open Heads.2da you should find 1 row for your head in this 2da file. copy this row to the bottom and renumber the line rename the head using a similiar structure to the appearance name. If original is PFHC01 then rename it WZHJ01. Rename all entries on this line for textures to match our new name.

Go back to your appearance.2da file and you will find a column for head change the # in this field to match your new row in heads.2da. So if it was number 45 before and your new row is 99 you will change this to 99. Do this for all 3 rows in appearance.2da. Save and keep handy.

Open portraits.2da and copy the row that coresponds to the original PC head make the same changes as we did in the other 2 2da files renaming the entries to corespond to your new head. you will find 3 fields that corespond to your appearance entry's. The first will be your medium build body followed by small and then large. So the entries may read 210, 209, & 211 instead of numerically. Go ahead and change these numbers to corespond to your new appearance.2da fields.(This is one reason to keep this file open.)

As long as your copying an existing selectable PC head to make changes to it will be selectable when we are all done.

Okay one more time to appearance.2da we want to give a unique name to your skin texture for your new character. Try to keep your naming structures simliar for ease and convience.

Alright now to our tga's, mdl's, & mdx's.

Name your tga to match our new heads.2da entry listed above with the tgs extension.

Extract the mdl & mdx files for the original head listed above in heads.2da. rename too your new heads.2da entry.

That is all that is required for a new head.

Of note it was mentioned above that you need to Hex edit the mdl file. This is not true for a PC head unlike armor & weapons and the sort. Heads.2da is what drives what texture is actually being used by the model. However for less chance of glitches I do recommend Hex editing the mdl file. You can also use mdlops renamer function but that means converting your head to ascii & then manually renaming the new files to again alot of times.

For hex editing I use a Hex editor that has a search replace feature which makes everything quick and painless as long as the entry names are of equal length.

I hope this helps in your endeavors.
