RoxStar
I'm still running on onbaord grpahics with my *new* computer form august. I've got two 9800 Pros picked out from newegg. Which one is better? OpenGLl 1.5 support- This one has some bundle deal with memory, which I could use. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814164025 OpenGL 2.0 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814153018
Tokarev
They should be pretty much the same for a 9800 Pro... So either should suit what you need.
Kjølen
I don't know about you, but they look the same to me. I haven't heard good things about Rosewill though. I think you can get better card for cheaper. Like so: Low Price, Great Quality: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814145118 ---OR--- Higher Price, Greater Quality: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814121196 Or if you want to stick with ATi: Low Price, Great Quality: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102344 ---OR--- Higher Price, Greater Quality: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102515 And if you REALLY want to push the power (and your budget a tiny bit), definately go with the following: ATi: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102530 nVidia: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814150073
Kjølen
I've always been an ATi person, simply by luck from my first two computers, but the one I built myself, I chose Radeon X800 XT Platinum Edition 256MB DDR3, simply because I had money to burn. My specs are insane. Anyway, ATi are a bit cheaper, a lot quieter, smaller, cooler, and use less power. nVidia cards probably use more power just for the giant fan to cool it. Which explains the reasons why ATi cards are cheaper, smaller, cooler and less power-hungry. I want to try an nVidia card next though, jsut so I can get a better, more well-rounded opinion. Kjølen
Huh, I must have overlooked that. Then, for the same price, DEFINATELY go 9800Pro, my friend. Or one of MY options, for better and cheaper.
BongoBob
Lucky punks with actual sort of up to date good vid cards. I was running an onboard 32mb vid card, until my cousin gave me her old GeForce 2 32MB card. I like it because I can run halo on the computer which is great mp, but it looks like ****. *waits for his job so he can build his own computer*
Crow_Nest
Go with whatever you prefer, they are both the same. only that one supports OpenGL 2.0 and one has 256MB DDR. Btw, never heard of those manufactuers before?

Must be a typo, or a 9000 pro has the same 256-bit interface and core + mem speeds of a 9800. =/
narfblat
If you get a 9800 pro, you may need to make sure your tower is well-ventilated. Our 9800 pro was overheating earlier this month, and it was making Morrowind stuff look really weird. This may have just been a fan that was dying, or dust buildup, but someone who worked at the computer store said that his 9800 pro had overheated too. We were just going to buy a slot fan to go beneath the graphics card, but we were seduced by "The Tower Of The Dark Side." We bought a black tower which has thousands of holes all over the top and sides, many fans, and a cpu vent.

I turned off my computer, touched the heatsink of the fan and it nearly burned me
