chrisakachris Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 So what can you tell me about this guy, Jack Johnson?
Alien426 Posted July 10, 2005 Posted July 10, 2005 You don't expect Carl or Prendo to show up, do you? Wasn't there a Simpsons or Futurama episode with the presidential candidates John Jackson and Jack Johnson?
chrisakachris Posted July 11, 2005 Author Posted July 11, 2005 Heh, it was rerun here a couple of weeks ago.
chrisakachris Posted July 22, 2005 Author Posted July 22, 2005 So it seems this guy is from Hawaii, not Australia.
Alien426 Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 Anyways, I was watching the Angel DVDs (which sadly is over now) and Joss was recommending the Dixie Chicks. Anyone know them and can tell me which of their albums is the best?
Alien426 Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 Get Home! It's really great country music. If you don't believe me, try "Long Time Gone", the instrumental "Lil' Jack Slade" or "Top Of The World" (especially 4:00+). Wide Open Spaces / Fly will be next. Edit: No, I'm not talking to myself. I mean YOU!
chrisakachris Posted December 3, 2005 Author Posted December 3, 2005 I will soon hopefully tell you about a new CD I really really like. It is called Scream.
Prendo Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 Hey Guys!! Guess who decided to show up?? I can't believe my username is still active on here. What's it been? 2 years since I last poked my head in here? Ummm, just found the LucasFans forum again!! Went looking for it the other day, and for some reason could not find it. Didn't occur to me to Google it, which I have just done. Yeah, Jack Johnson is from Hawaii, and his music is fantastic. Well, at least I think it's fantastic. Haven't seen Shutt in a loooong time, he pobably doesn't even remember this place. So anybody heard from Ian? What's he up to these days? Does he still post here at all?
Prendo Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 Oh, I just saw that the last reply in this thread was way back in '05. Thought it might have been some time this year. Oh well, might have to get new glasses I think.
MJ Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 Yes, I'm Australian. Jack Johnson rules, but he's from Hawai'i. The soundtrack for the movie Curious George did a brilliant marketing ploy, and released it so that it looks like it's a Jack Johnson album, and not the soundtrack from a cartoon movie about a monkey. It worked really well, and it's the best selling soundtrack in a long time.
Gabez Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 No, I'm British, and I have no idea who Jack Johnson is, though I do remember a refference in Futurama.
MJ Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 Listen to his music, Gabez. It's good stuff. I'd try and work it into Nightlight material, but it's way too melow.
Alien426 Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 So I flick through the programs this morning and on MTV Jack is playing with the song "Wasting Time". Naturally I remember this thread and that I liked Upside Down. But when I search on Amazon, there are a ton of albums: Brushfire Fairytales, On And On, In Between Dreams, Curious George. Which is the best?
MJ Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 In Between Dreams. There's no questioning that. Australia has a similair artist who's quite popular at the moment named Bernard Fanning. You should listen to some of his music, if you can get it, it's quite good. Really good acoustic guitar music.
itchythesamurai Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 J.G. Thirlwell is a whizbang Australian musician, but then again, he's not for everyone. Kinda weird and/or heavily vulgar at times.
