RevanA4
I've been made a mod on a different forum but just for the tech part of it though. I would like some advice on how I should go about modding that part of the forum
stingerhs
as in being a moderator?? simple: ban, and ban often. okay, fine, i'm just kidding. for me its pretty simple: set some guidelines and make people follow them. if they don't, give them a warning. if they continue, ask a admin/super mod to ban them. its your exclusive right, unless your rules aren't fair to begin with. and since its a tech forum, be as helpful as you possibly can. heck, go overboard by researching the problem every once in a while. it'll increase your knowledge on the subject while providing someone else a big boost. hope that helps. ET Warrior
Also, don't try to be everyone's favorite moderator, by bending rules, and getting walked on. Be tough, and stern, and sometimes you're going to make people mad. Mostly they're mad at you because they want to be a moderator, sometimes they're mad just because they want someone to be mad at. You're not trying to win a popularity contest.
Darth333
What the others said Try to be just and treat members equally and fairly. Act for what you think is best for the community and not for yourself. If you have to intervene in a flame war per example, be strict, do it with some detachment and don't get involved in it. If it's something you're involved in, ask another moderator to look at it. When someone is pissing you off, take a reasonable approach, leave the emotions behind ...yeah...kind of applying the Jedi Code (or if you really need to vent out, do it somewhere else...) I never even considered modding a forum or part of a forum but they offered to to me so I said sure I'll do it
Emperor Devon
I may not be a moderator, but when you stumble across a difficult situation ask yourself, "What would Darth Sidious do?"

I doubt any moderator here thinks that except for maybe sithy:xp:
lukeiamyourdad
Oh they all think that. It's just that to avoid tensions between the ruling faction and the common populace, such reasonings are kept silent, shrouded in nice words. Like when a moderator says:"Stop spamming", in his/her mind, it's more like:"I'm going to ban your ass you little mofo!" Well, I'm sure they all think of evil things they can do to us.
