toms
Amazon.com France has slipped a page with the European release date and price for Nintendo’s monolithic new game console, the Revolution. The release date is listed as June 15, 2006. The total, after conversion, would be about $365. European console prices tend to be a bit higher than here in the U.S., but this still sounds like a fool’s ransom given the Xbox 360’s $299-$399 pricetag. (Remember that Nintendo says its console will be less technologically advanced and thus cheaper than the Xbox 360 or PS3). Based on the GameCube’s 2001 launch cycle—it arrived in Europe six months after it debuted in N.A.—this leak gives credence to rumors that the Revolution could see a surprise 2005 launch. Either that, or Nintendo is doing some very cheeky marketing. http://www.gizmodo.com/gadgets/revolution/index.php#euro-revolution-begins-15-june-2006-118391 Though of course we all know 99% of these rumours turn out to be rubbish. But they are fun nontheless... [edit] having just noticed the other thread got locked lets not turn this one into a flame war or anything.
IG-64
It's most likely rubbish.
Lynk Former
It's rubbish. Having been immersed in Revolution rumour since Nintendo first announced the codename "Revolution" I have found that you should not believe ANYTHING unless it has been confirmed that Nintendo has ACTUALLY said it THEMSELVES. The Revolution is the console people know least about which means rumours obviously will circulate. People are desperate for news of the Revolution. XD and I don't think June 2006 is a very good estimation of a Revolution release date, more like November 2006. Now that Microsoft has laid down the price, you can bet that 299USD will be the maximum the Revolution will go, and that's only if that is the price of the cheapest variation of the 360 at the time of Nintendo's release date, whatever that may be. Jeff
It's probably all false stuff. It wouldn't make sense for it to be $365 when the xbox is going to be $299 and Nintendo themselves have said that it will be less advanced and cheaper than xbox. But who knows...? BongoBob
It did say consoles are more expensive there though. Eh, it's still fun to speculate
Lynk Former
http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/643/643170p1.html look at the table at the bottom of this article... the NES, SNES, N64 and GCN all launched with the price of 199USD... I think we've discovered the price of the Revolution XD
toms
you mean $269.99? also in the gossip stakes... According to reports, Peter Molyneux and Yuji Naka have both come out in support of Nintendo's Revolution game controller, which has so far been shrouded in mystery. "There is a line at the end of the book 'Game Over' and it is: 'Never underestimate Nintendo'. That is all I can say about the controller," Molyneux reportedly told someone in Leipzig last week. Meanwhile, Yuji Naka says "everyone will be pleasantly surprised". The controller's towering achievement in recent months has been to become synonymous with the word "fake" , but if quotes attributed to the Black & White and Sonic creators are accurate, it supports Nintendo's argument that it's going to be something special. As does the writing of Computer Gaming Magazine. "Simply, the Revolution controller will provide resistance to being tilted," and does so wirelessly
Lynk Former
A lot of developers have been saying cryptic yet somehow interesting things about the Revolution...
lukeskywalker1
Im not sure Devs really know anything about the controller. Why? Because I keep reading a bunch "This game is for PS3 and Xbox 360. We are not sure about the Nintendo Revolution at this point." That probably means they have no clue what to expect. Because of the controller they don't know if they can port it or not. Or am I wrong?
jokemaster
All I know is that Nintendo better have a strong lineup of first party games for launch, cause the third parties so far seem clueless. Unless Nintendo's slapped some NDA's on the dev. kits.
lukeskywalker1
Super Smash Brothers... probably a mario game, Mario Kart would be cool. Oh.. but it doesn't matter because the backwards compatibility will be available right out of the box.. pretty much, just hook up, pay up, and download. jokemaster
I'll probably spend more money on the old classics than the new ones, LOL. I wanna play so many games that I missed out on that I've heard great things about......then I'll see that they actually suck and go back to the modern games. lukeskywalker1
Im noticing that now that I am looking at next gen graphics a lot, current gen graphics look like crap (well they don't... just when comparing theres a difference) Lol, I remember playing an old game and saying "This didn't look that bad back then!!!!" Same with games like Dark Forces II... wow... look at that saber. I pick up JK2... "oh crap". Then I look at DF2 and say "wait a sec... what happend to the cool graphics!" Anyone try using that N64 controller recently? Lol. I went to a friends house, grabbed that controller and was like "whoa... this doesn't feel right." You adjust quickly, but it takes you back to the old days of Ocarina of Time and Star Fox 64. Old games like that have a specific feel to them. Can't wait to save Corneria again, or toss Bowser around.
jokemaster
Same with me, I recently dug out my old JK CD, and played it for a bit and.....there's so many things I didn't remember at first, but soon it all came back to me. the tricks to using the saber, etc. In my opinion, truly great games, like movies are things that you should be able to still pick up and play even years later. The difference is that in games, maybe someone who didn't play them originally may not appreciate it, what I call the 'Good Memory' factor, where someone's opinion of a movie/game/book/tv show is that it was awesome simply because of how they enjoyed it the first time around. I mean c'mon, when I first played it it was my first game where I actually used a Lightsaber. PS I didn't play any of the console SW platformer games. El Sitherino
I'll mostly just be getting classic games and the new mario game. Oh, fixed the thread title by the way.
lukeskywalker1
Yeah, your right, a person who played JK2/JKA but never played DF2 probably wouldn't appreciate it as much. A lot of veterans say JK2 and JKA don't match up to DF2/DF. I played DF2 (and still own it) but I like JK2/JKA more. I think DF has a better story, but the others have better gameplay by far. Thats how it was for me and Twin Snakes (remake of PS1 version of Metal Gear Solid) I played Twin Snakes... amazing graphics/gameplay. I played MGS on PC... umm... crap graphics... no wall hangs, no rolling, no M9.... what the? Everyone says its better, but I just don't like it as much. I find it easier than Twin Snakes, yet everyone say MGS was harder than twin snakes. The AI and Graphics aren't too good, compared to the remake. Oh well. EDIT: I think they will release at least the Revolution's real name, or pics of the controller before giving a price and release date. Or maybe, all at once. jokemaster
Same thing happened to me, I read MGS1s story online before buying MGS2 after hearing great stories about it, played MGS2, loved it, heard about TTS, but later, when I bought TTS, the day I was going to play it, I saw they also had MGS for PC for 99 cents, so I picked it up too, just to compare. So I played both of them, and I ended up suprised at the fact that I enjoyed TTS more...the first one had, like you said, worse AI, and it wasn't easier, there was just a lot more cool things to do in TTS. lukeskywalker1
99 cents? Wow, I saw it for PS1 for like... $15-$20 or something! O.o (I have the MGS PC demo... downloaded it to compare, like you) I wish Nintendo would continue with MGS. People baught gamecubes just for the Twin Snakes. It sold like crazy. I think it was like 15 on gamerankings in the GCN section. Sony is set with games like MGS and Devil May Cry, they sell, big time. And sequals are always great. If Nintendo could get some thrid party exclusives, it would boost not only game sales, but the actually GCN/Revolution console sales. Like I said, people baught a GCN just for Twin Snakes. Why? It was exclusive. Why did Soul Calibur II sell more on GCN? Because Link was an exclusive character. Everyone knows they like Link. PS2/Xbox fans like Zelda too, its a universal game. Why do you think Sony is getting SC3 a PS2 exclusive game? To prevent a character like Link from taking all the sales in for Nintendo. SC3 will sell big time on PS2 now, because if you want the game, you have to have a PS2. Im not a playstation fan, I'll admit, but I plan on buying one because of exclusives like MGS SC3, Tekken, and tons of other games that you can't get on other systems. jokemaster
^I agree with you 100% man, I'm buying a PS3, if only because I wanna play MGS4, and Devil May Cry, and apparently, Ace Combat.

We are not sure about the Nintendo Revolution at this point." That probably means they have no clue what to expect. Because of the controller they don't know if they can port it or not. Or am I wrong? Not all developers have seen what makes the Revolution so special but Nintendo has made it clear that they have shown a select few to gather valuable opinions about it seeing as this is for the developers to use and create games from. All I know is that Nintendo better have a strong lineup of first party games for launch, cause the third parties so far seem clueless. Unless Nintendo's slapped some NDA's on the dev. kits. At this point the vibe we're getting from Nintendo is that there will definately be Smash Bros Revolution. There will be a Mario game, Animal Crossing and it looks like Metroid Prime 3 may end up being part of the launch lineup. Along with the legacy games and Twilight Princess, Nintendo themselves will have a nice list. In terms of third party, by the sounds of it a few select developers have been exposed to the Revolution but because of its secret nature they have been silenced to prevent any leaks of what the Revolution's special features are. Of cuorse that there is just my opinion, it does fit what has been said by key members of the gaming industry and Nintendo themselves. Anyone try using that N64 controller recently? Lol. I went to a friends house, grabbed that controller and was like "whoa... this doesn't feel right." You adjust quickly, but it takes you back to the old days of Ocarina of Time and Star Fox 64. Old games like that have a specific feel to them. Can't wait to save Corneria again, or toss Bowser around. lol, yeah I gave my N64 to my nephew and I go over there and play Mario Kart with him, everytime I pick up the controller it does feel pretty wierd but it doesn't take long before it feels oh so very right (rawr) The old skool games do have a very specific feel to em and my worry with the Revolution backwards compatibility is that the controller may not be able to completely feel the way it was with the N64 controller. After all there is a very big sensitivity difference between the N64 analog stick and the GCN analog stick. It was pretty distracting for precision work on the GCN versions of Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask where you had to do a bit of archery. I wish Nintendo would continue with MGS. People baught gamecubes just for the Twin Snakes. It sold like crazy. I think it was like 15 on gamerankings in the GCN section. SC3 will sell big time on PS2 now, because if you want the game, you have to have a PS2. Aye, I wish Nintendo had a lot more third party games, and they could've if the GCN had've used larger discs, but that issue aside it's interesting to note that Sony stopped Devil May Cry from making it the GameCube. And they do have a very good reason to be aggressive that way seeing as Sony don't make their own games. I can understand it, and while we don't get games like MGS and Devil May Cry it doesn't bother me that much, though it still is unfortunate.
