Rubacava Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 Less than 12 hours till I leave for Japan to stay for 10 months, so goodbye! I'll try to keep you all posted, I should have internet access at least sometimes, so maybe I'll put pictures here and stuff. I'll also try to update my fanfic, sometime. Ok, bye guys!
Rubacava Posted August 31, 2005 Author Posted August 31, 2005 Yokohama, but I'll go to school in Tokyo.
Rubacava Posted September 5, 2005 Author Posted September 5, 2005 Here is my description of Japan so far; 1. porn. 2. confusing. 3. schoolgirls. 4. weird food. 5. porn. That pretty much sums it up.
Sallim Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 nice desciption..but ..porn? porn everywhere or what?
Rubacava Posted September 7, 2005 Author Posted September 7, 2005 Yes, porn everywhere. And there are some arcades, yes. We found a Typing of the Dead machine in one! It was so cool.
Zaarin Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 My favourite arcade games there were the "Walk the Dog" one, and the "Drive a bus" one. Hilarious.
Sallim Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 Ok after almost one month, how is japan now and more interresting, how the people react to foreigners? Did you make some photos? ohoh! How is the weather over there ?
Rei_Nokato Posted September 28, 2005 Posted September 28, 2005 WE LUM YOU!!! <333 And do try your best to keep us posted now and again, if ever you have time. I'm very curious to hear about your adventures. ^__^
Rubacava Posted September 29, 2005 Author Posted September 29, 2005 I lum all you too! XD Okay, I have had LOTS of adventures! I'll edit this post at lunch time to tell you about some of them, but right now we're about to have more Japanese class. We're learning how to say "please put your clothes on". Hooray!
Sallim Posted September 29, 2005 Posted September 29, 2005 let me guess its ..." Onegai anata-wa ..." well... cant wait for the adventures, besides that, the fact that your still alive (over there) is amazing!
90SK Posted September 29, 2005 Posted September 29, 2005 Tell me about it. Be sure to give us info on the culture shock factor!
Rubacava Posted September 29, 2005 Author Posted September 29, 2005 I'll just make a new post. Anyway, crazy Japan adventures! I arrived in Japan on the first of September, and my friend Heidi and I ended up staying in a hotel for the first two nights. One of them was the fanciest hotel like... ever. Seriously, it had a theme park, and an aquarium, and a two story bowling alley... and a lot more. After that, we met our host families. Mine is very nice! They took me to a shrine last weekend, I'll post a picture or two at the bottom of this post. Also, I had quite the adventure with a bank the other day. They forgot to give me about 50 cents when I got my travelers checks turned into yen, and so they came to my host families house, and apologized and bowed a lot, and gave me TINFOIL. Yes, tinfoil, as well as kleenexes, and a pen. That's all for now, I'll post a picture of me in my uniform and at the shrine here: getting my fortune told my uniform.
Rei_Nokato Posted September 29, 2005 Posted September 29, 2005 Yay! You ARE alive!! @_@ *tackleglomp* Hee, those sound like interesting classes. xD
Rei_Nokato Posted September 29, 2005 Posted September 29, 2005 Waaah! ^__^ Nyoo~ what a cute uniform! 'm so jealous. >< Everything sounds so cute in Japan, why is that? XD; Even the bank people! You should keep the tinfoil as a souvenir.
Smon Posted September 29, 2005 Posted September 29, 2005 Take a picture of a square watermelon, I know how to make them, and I've seen them in cartoons, I've just never seen one alive... I heard merchants in Japan make them so they're easier to manage.
90SK Posted October 2, 2005 Posted October 2, 2005 Waaah! ^__^ Nyoo~ what a cute uniform! 'm so jealous. >< Everything sounds so cute in Japan, why is that? XD; Even the bank people! I guess that’s the price we pay for over-culturiztion in America and Europe. Japan sounds like they’ve retained a lot of “awesome”.
VampireNaomi Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 Wow, I can't believe I never replied to this thread before. Your adventures sound fantastic! You must be having so much fun over there. How fluent are you in the language? Did you know much of it before you travelled? Do people speak English well?
Velasco Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 A mate of mine got married to a Japanese bird, and he now lives out there with her. He told me that it is a complete culture shock, and nothing like England (therefore, much of the West?) at all. He even went as far as saying its a completely different world. Good luck with it all, seems like you're having a wicked time.
