shamelessposer
SUCCESS! I've finally managed to do my first KOTOR recruit mod: T3-H8 can be repaired by Janice after being blown up, essentially giving you a free expert droid. At present, hsi very existence breaks the game (have to come up with an alternate way into the Sith base), but for now I'm just basking in the afterglow. Once I work that out it's time to get Janice all nice and recruitable. (Although I considered it for about two seconds, there isn't going to be a 0.2 download with the files as-is. Too much is broken right now for it to be anything but an exercise in frustration)
shamelessposer
I'm giving Carth a new outfit, but I can't decide which is appropriate. Carth in a Republic Soldier (Trask) uniform http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v341/shamelessposer/Carth.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v341/shamelessposer/Carth3.jpg Carth in a Republic Officer (Skirt) uniform http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v341/shamelessposer/Carth2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v341/shamelessposer/Carth4.jpg Anyone have a preference? Darth InSidious
I'd go with the officer, myself ;D Also, I like the idea of the new droid Who does it replace?

shamelessposer
Also, I like the idea of the new droid Who does it replace? T3-H8 replaces T3-M4. He's the droid that you buy from Janice Nall for fifty credits (and then blows up once you leave the droid shop), but I've changed it so that Janice repairs him afterwards and you get a droid character basically for free. This means you'll be able to break into the Sith base much earlier if you want, but you probably aren't equipped for it until after the swoop bike race. Getting T3-H8 saves you a few thousand credits, but he was only built on a twenty-four point scale and he has, erm, "undocumented features" that I'll let the player discover. And Darth333, I'll see what I can do about making later pictures brighter.
shamelessposer
So I had all plans to do a 0.2 release tonight... but that got flushed. I've been sick all week and I'm just now getting over it, and now I've switched over to new antidepressants that cause me to alternate between super-productive and weepy in the corner. Thins should balance out in the next week or so, though. Skewl the Gamorrean is almost finished and recruitable, but I have to start over again on Janice and T3-H8. A bad save wiped out about an hour's worth of dialogue editing, and I'm just not ready to get back to that yet. I can promise, though, that the game will feature at least one new mini-planet with a recruitable Jedi on it, if you play your cards right. In addtion a few new equipment pieces have been added: One is Skewl's Waraxe, an upgradeable weapon ideal for cutting through early game enemies, and the other is a Shield Gauntlet that gives Jedi a little bit of a Defense boost. I haven't tested it yet, but I believe you now have specifically request that Juhani join your party. I did this to open up the possibility of her slot being filled by Janice instead. I'm toying with the idea of a primitive Influence-type system allowing you to altert the alignment of your party members. Take someone high or low enough, and you just may have a new apprentice. Two characters are confirmed as possible apprentices so far, with maybe more to come. Another new feature to the game is going to be the addition of twenty-six new lightsabers. Nothing fancy, really, just a few retextures, and none of them will be upgradeable... but some of them are downright devious. Examples: Lightsaber V +2 Energy +1 AB +4 Security Lightsaber W Bonus Feats: Sneak Attack III Bonus Feat: Force Camouflage Lightsaber Z +2 AB +2 Defense Nothing too big, but many of them will replace the dropped lightsabers you pick up int he normal game. It'll give a little bit more variety and maybe make the upgradeable ones a little more valuable... That's all fo now. Some has been implemented, some hasn't. Again, keep those suggestions, corrections, clarifications, demands and threats coming!
90SK
So far so good, man. Looks like you've got things going at a good rate. Keep it up!
REDJOHNNYMIKE
uhh, yeah, you should make carth's 2nd outfit Plaid and put blue warpaint on his face, that would be cool, he's out to kill all those SW characters with an anglish accent:D But seriously, What does 24 point scale mean? I haven't heard of that. And I see recruits, items, and you mentioned a mini planet, are you going to make some story with it? I've also never heard of influence in KI so that sounds really cool:D
shamelessposer
uhh, yeah, you should make carth's 2nd outfit Plaid and put blue warpaint on his face, that would be cool, he's out to kill all those SW characters with an anglish accent:D Funny you should bring that up. At one point I had planned to add a Zabrak Jedi who would wear blue facepaint into battle. Hmm... I think I see a place for that, now that I think about it... But seriously, What does 24 point scale mean? I haven't heard of that. Your PC, when you first create him, is built on a thirty point base. That means you get to distribute thirty points to the character's attributes. Poor T3-H8, bargain bin beauty that he is, starts off with only twenty-four points worth of attributes. And I see recruits, items, and you mentioned a mini planet, are you going to make some story with it? The recruits will all have good reasons for joining your party, and most should have minimal effect on the overall storyline. I've even found individual lines that can be cut after selling Mission that cause the process to go much smoother than I anticipated. I just need to earn a yellow belt in script-fu before implementing that. Not too many of the items are going to be storyline-based. Most of them will be found in shops. One I'm still excited about is the tailor, who can supply clothes (some armored!) and Jedi robes to the player. I've also never heard of influence in KI so that sounds really cool:D It's nothing too major, but it will be possible for certain key dialogue points to allow you to alter the alignment of your party members. For example, you'll be able to turn Mission to the dark side and then train her as your apprentice. I'm working on maybe allowing you to push Carth far enough over the edge that he'll stop telling you to not do immoral things, but I'm still not sure if the amount of scripting required would make it worthwhile. Also, Juhani starts out ten points in the dark. It's up to the individual player to either bring her fully back to the light and allow her redemption or to push her into being a self-loathing Sith. I guess I oversold it a little... it's not so much an Influence system as it is a long series of "change alignment of NPC X" tags. EDIT: Also, once the mod is done, keep an eye out for a few hints to the background story of KOTOR2. For example, Lightsaber I was a failed experiment by an Iridonian who served in the Engineer Corps during the war...
Vibro
This sounds really good. I think you should go with the officer uniform for Carth.
shamelessposer
Just posting to say that the project is still alive and kicking; I just took a break this week because of school work, medication, and a recent purchase of Neverwinter Nights Platinum. I'll be needing to add some new shopkeepers and commoners to the game, so PM me if you want to audition.
shamelessposer
Most of the changes made this weekend have been purely cosmetic, but I thought I'd share them anyway. The character silhouettes shown before a character is recruited don't make much sense in the context of my mod, given that now, in many cases, there will be a difference between the characters originally assigned to the slots and who actually ends up in the party. I made another change to the character selection screen. Let's see if you can figure out what it is. Also, I've added two new robes to the game. One was created by Jolee Bindo during his isolation, and the other is simply titled "Pink Robe." They're fullscreen pictures, so links are below. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v341/shamelessposer/BASTILA.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v341/shamelessposer/jolee.jpg
shamelessposer
Okay, good news and bad news. Bad news first: I'm cutting Skewl the Gammorean. I didn't realize until it was too late that you can't have Gammoreans equip new weapons. I lost at least a week of development time because I went slightly crazy and had to be in the hospital for a week. Good news: I'm making some headway in areas I hadn't been able to before. Soldiers now look like Republic Soldiers, Janice and Zaedra have had their appearances swapped, and recruitable NPCs will finally have portraits. There might be some screenshots up tonight. shamelessposer
I hoped for a release this week, but I got Freelancer over the weekend, played some Neverwinter Nights, did a Holowan runthrough of KOTOR2... and, generally, slacked off. So instead I'll show you a single screenshot of something I'm sure will titillate and excite... Skewl, the cut recruitable Gamorrean I mentioned a while back? I found a place for him. He's now the administrator for an Exchange base on Hoth. That's right. HOTH. The KOTOR Remix will include an additional planet.
brwarner
Wow, I can't wait to see this new planet. How big do you plan to make the planet?
shamelessposer
Wow, I can't wait to see this new planet. How big do you plan to make the planet? Probably no bigger than the Vulkar base. But if it makes you feel any better, I can promise at least one recruitable character AND, if I get the scripting right, a new way to get rid of the gizka.
