Robster48
Hello all I recently bought Rogue Squadron 3D for my Daughter from a car boot sale. She is having great fun shooting at anything and everything at the moment but eventually she is going to want to play the game properly, problem is no instructions came with the game. I have looked at it too but must be honest, I cant work out what we are supposed to be shooting at either. You have probably realised by now that neither of us are gaming gurus, infact this is the first game I have bought her. We are still on the 1st screen because we dont understand what the radar is showing us. Are the baddies the green dots?, red dots?, blue dots?, who knows!! I was hoping to find that I could download the instructions of the internet but I dont seem to be able to find them. Any help would be much appreciated. Great forum by the way, hopefull we will be talking to you all soon about how to finish the game, not start it!! Thanks Rob
Dark Sad Shadow
HOLY SMOKES!!! WEEEELLLCOME TO RS.net (AKA aresen) gladly we´ll help you First: Radar: Red dots are enemies BLAST THEM!!! The orange icon glows when your target area or target needs your attention. Tip: always point the orange cone to the north 12 o clock. mmm First stage: (no gold medal) Kill the probe droids and then the tie bombers I highly recommend you getting a joystick for this game
Robster48
Thanks for your tips Dark Sad Shadow! By sheer luck I did actually complete the 1st mission last night, it gets really good after that 1st flight doesnt it! Cant work out what the ship icon is in the bottom left of screen. It has a number with it? I actually bought a joystick last week, I agree, it doesnt work well with a mouse! Thanks again Rob
Dark Sad Shadow
okey, the ship icon with the number is your ship status and remaining ships Blue is the best status, when you get the shield upgrade, then green, then yellow then red, then BOOM! you are dead:D
Cmdr. Cracken
Congrats on the first game ever! It's a good pick, and just make sure as yoru kid gets into gaming more, you keep tabs on what she wants to play. games are just like movies, someof them willnot be appropriate for certain age groups. I'm one of the moderators here, returning after a long hiatus of activity. Played RS for a bit, and then moved on to X-Wing Alliance, a bigger, EXTREAMLY more complex simulation of Star Wars starfighter combat. RS is good for easing into Star Wars starfighters. Any questions about Starfighters though, i will always give the answer that the A-Wing is the best. A-Wings for the win! Since you are the first person in a bit to come here with questions on the game, i'll probably load up RS soon to be able to answer you quicker if you have questions. Good shooting! Cmdr. Cracken
Damn straight A-Wings are the best. You can't shoot down what you can't hit.....

Redwing
*also die-hard A-Wing fanatic* I remember the X-Wing vs. A-Wing fights that used to go on here. I think so far you'll have only been able to use an X-Wing. IIRC you don't get the little 'speed demon' until the third mission. Rogue Squadron was my very second game ever. First flight simulator-type game. And, actually, I was never able to learn to play it with a joystick. I always used the arrow keys (the mouse? I wouldn't even attempt that XD) I haven't played Rogue Squadron in over a year and a half, due to the disk breaking... and not being able to play ANY video games due to moving... but I'll endeavor to summon the memories
Ray Jones
I never played the game. I look too good if i only touch any flight sims and such. I always get laid if I even try. First you're to busy, then sucked dry. It's a heavy burden for me. I'm a poor bastard. My life's a mess.

Lynk Former
I remember the X-Wing vs. A-Wing fights that used to go on here. X-Wing damn you!! You want speed? Just close your S-Foils, plus we have Artoo which means our shields regenerate while the A-Wing's don't
Redwing
Don't shields ALWAYS regenerate? It's the body that doesn't repair unless you've got Artoo... unless I am severely misremembering You call closing your S-Foils and zipping off "speed"? Then let me ask you something, can you actually shoot anything while you're doing this? Can you maneuver at all? I'm thinking 'no'. S-Foil closing is just a good way to run into large objects at high speeds and explode (Heeeee.)
