Well, 1up has a review up and they REALLY dont like it. Gave it 2 out ot 10.

The release of Doom should be considered to be an act of entertainment terrorism towards not only to fans of this beloved franchise, but to anyone who considers themselves a fan of movies.

IGn on the other hand think its "the best game to move adaption yet", though that still seems to only get it 3/5.

The mainstream press doesn't seem to like it much, as its only scoring 25% on Rottentomatoes...

Surprisingly a lot of them call it "dull". I was expecting it to be cliched and not have much of a plot, but i doubted it would be dull.

anyone seen it yet? I doubt it will be out over here for a while anyways...

Yeah, I may rent it. or maybe wait 3 or 4 years for it to be on telly. and if you doubt it will be three years, the premier of spiderman was on the telly last sunday. it sucks not having sky, but when you have to pay for a tv licence anyway, I'm not paying even more for sky.

Hey, I read IGN's review and they (video game people) liked the FPS elements in it saying it was done well. And all these people in that Halo movie thread are all saying how dumb it is. Once again, as said by myself and others, I'd have to see it implemented in the movie to see how good/ bad it is.

It was cool. Good pointless action movie.

yes, Sarge does turn evil

Lots of unexpectedness. Some parts so ridiculous you have to laugh at it. Wasn't scary at all. But it was worth the 6 dollars imo.

Everyone cheered when it went into FPS mode, then I knew that 90% of the audience were fans. One of them had a DS, the first time I've ever seen one "in the wild".

The place where I'd say Doom failed was the storyline. Doom, as a game itself was devoid of storyline. It involved simply picking up a gun and killing the thousand enemies that try to kill you. That's okay if it's a game, but a movie needs a reason, a purpose. The filmmakers should have atleast tried Half-Life. It'd make a good action game. Of course, I still Deus Ex, if done well will make the best game-to-movie adaptation ever.

I'd have to say this may have been the worst movie I've seen in a loooong time. I'll admit, I found it to be rather hilarious, in the "holy **** I can't believe it's this bad" kind of way.

I wouldn't recommend this movie to ANYONE.

It is my belief that when you go to see this movie you must suspend any sort of desire to see a good movie.

I knew it was bad. I enjoyed it because it was a pointless shooter to see with my friends. :p

I expected bad movie, what I didn't get was action. There was really close to zero action. It was boring..."We are running the the sewers! Oh noes I forgot to load my gun run..I'm dead...****!"

Well, as i said in the first post, a lot of the reviews call it "dull" or say it hasn't got much action... so i don't think ET is being too controversial.

Seems to me they should have incorporated quick bits of FPS viewpoints throughout, rather than saved it all up for a big long sequence at the end... but then i haven't got a chance to see it yet.

Still, i have something of a soft spot for movies that are so bad that they are funny... so maybe i'll try and watch it on cheap night when it comes out over here.

Box office analysts figure that lousy reviews for Doom -- even on several videogame websites -- are not likely to doom the movie's opening weekend. Most, in fact, expect fans of the game on which it is based to push it to the top of the box office with around $15-17 million -- not a lot for a film that reportedly cost some $80 million to make, but much better than what most other new releases have been earning of late.
