The Doctor
I don't really care about baseball. I'm a cricket fan, myself.
spinkle
i'm rooting for the end of the World Series so new episodes of Arrested Development start again. all in all i'd rather see Houston win, but i largely just don't care. sports that aren't hockey are not awesome. (sorry doc) well except hurling, now THAT's an impressive damn sport.
El Sitherino
**** the sox.
The Doctor
@spinkle: CRICKET RULES. BTW, I tink... no I hope you mean curling, not hurling. O, and hockey suck(j/k) @Insane Sith: RIGHT ON!
spinkle
@doc you have to be on crack. curling is less of a sport than lawn darts and far less exciting. hurling is the bastard child of rugby, football and field hockey, with sticks, no pads, and no penalties for physical contact up to and including drawing blood. now THAT's rockstar. I'll join the **** the sox club too, since i've already thrown in my support for Houston.
The Doctor
I didn't say curling was good, I thought b y hurling you meant vomiting. Not fun. I am not on crack.
spinkle
check this out for more [accurate] information than i could provide about hurling. as for vomiting, it definitely can be more exciting than a curling match. though if i've been watching curling, i will more than likely have been drinking enough to hurl by the end. The Doctor
Curling isn't that bad.... OK, maybe it is, but I'd rather watch curling than American Football. THEY CUT INTO THE SIMPSONS EVERY F@#$%ING WEEK! At least it's not the new episodes, though...
Vladimir-Vlada
Oh, Not again! I swear, if I hear another person advertise or say something about baseball, I'll chop my head off. (j/k) And if I never hear anything about baseball AGAIN, it will be too soon.
Jeff
I want the Astros to win because I'd like to see Clemens win another series before he retires (if he ever does). Traditionally don't like either team though.
Hallucination
I've never heard of a baseball team that wasn't in North America, so why is it called 'World series'? I don't care about baseball, its just a few skinny guys hitting a ball with a bat to me. curling is less of a sport than lawn darts and far less exciting Dont diss curling, or else the Royal Canadian Curling Mafia will come for you. The RCCM isn't a joke, they threw rocks (the curling rocks) at my friend Steve and now he gets colouring books for Christmas.
spinkle
actually baseball is huge in japan...HUGE. some of the best batters all time are from the japanese leagues, like sadaharu oh who still holds the all-time pro baseball record for home runs with 868. let the RCCM come! i know rugby players =) you're right tho; world series doesn't really apply. it's just the name by tradition at this point. 90SK
Ugh, I just want the Astros to win so they can put "House" back on. I mean, the second season was just taking off.
spinkle
seriously man, the lack of Arrested Development to look forward to completely ruined October. And what's with two hours of prison break a week? C'mon now. Fox really dropped the ball even bothering to start their new shows in september, i would have preferred just to wait till november and see them run contiguously. 90SK
Wow, did you catch that grand slam the white socks just scored? They were behind, and now they're suddenly ahead 2. Just thought I'd mention it. I mean, I always liked the sport, though I prefer watching night sitcoms.
The Doctor
I myself prefer watching decorating and gardening shows (which I hat a lot). I can't stand baseball. Or football. Or hockey. Hell, the only sport I even remotely like is the real football (for those of you who don't know, I'm talking about "soccer").
spinkle
nah, i'm not watching the game. but grand slams are always cool to see, especially the two-outs, full-count, go-ahead grand slams that redetermine the course of a playoff game! that's one of the *exciting* aspects of baseball. if only the entire 162 game season could feel that meaningful. plus this is a world series thread, it's a pretty appropriate place to post on something that actually happened rather than off-topic ranting, which is more my skill =D incidentally i watch a grand total of 1 hour of tv a week. =|
El Sitherino
That call of pitch-hit on Dye was bull****. Astro's would have won if the umpire wasn't a blind-deaf bastard.
spinkle
so sox are up 2-0?

El Sitherino
Stay on topic children. This isn't a thread to discuss what you like to watch instead of baseball. I'd like to remind you that if you don't watch this, no one cares.
Captain_H
I choose Houston just because they don't have one at all. Note: If I am incorrect then please let me know so that I can tell my mom.
90SK
No, you're right. They've never been in. At this point, I'll be happy if either team wins. I mean, they pretty much both deserve it.
Astrotoy7
I want the Astro to win because he's the greatest mod in the history of the internet.. *blushes* why thank you DM * * * Ok, Riddle me this Batman, why is it called the WORLD series when just US/North American teams are playing ??? In cricket, there is the world series too, but teams include australia, england, new zealand, india, pakistan ie. different countries from around the world mtfbwya
