RobQel-Droma
Hate Boondocks. Always have. And this doesn't help. Such a stupid, political, insulting, idiotic comic. The kind of things they insult or make fun of... Or the comparisons like this, that must have been created by an idiot... I don't care who they are attacking, even if it is someone I don't like, it is just insulting to the whole human race to have people like this. Aash Li
I agree... this guys trying hard to be funny, and hes just not. spinkle
wow, i didn't realize Boondocks was so reviled. Personally I find The Family Circus and Cathy to be more of an insult to the human race, but to each their own.
Hallucination
I'm not really into comics, but that just wasn't funny. Very, very insulting to the human race and whats-her-name he was comparing to the Emporer guy.
ET Warrior
I think Boondocks is HI-larious.
El Sitherino
It is a bit funny, Harriet Miers does look like the Emperor when he was played by a chick and a baboon face superimposed in.

JediKnight707
I think that the Boondocks are pretty funny, but I like FoxTrot the best. I liked this one Boondocks that was on a while ago that had something to do with Pop-Tarts...pretty funny
RobQel-Droma
I think that if the person died they would have a place on the Darwin Awards (darwinawards.com). The sites slogan reads something like, "We salute the improvement of the human genome by honoring those who remove themselves from it..." I HATE Boondocks, it is so political. And it has insulted things that aren't political, religious holidays and non-religious ones. If you think this is funny, I hope you think it is funny in a stupid way. The whole strip is stupid. El Sitherino
Exactly why do you care what we think? And what exactly is wrong with politcal humor? God forbid someone has a sense of humor different from yours.
RobQel-Droma
I can't do anything about what you think. That was just hoping on my part. Not really anything I could do about it, you know. And as for what is wrong with political humor, I consider it wrong when it is making fun of people in a absolutely stupid way. I have seen ones of this that weren't exactly political, but still were making fun some religious holiday or something, I can't quite remember. It is just very insulting and annoying. I realize that some people have senses of humor different than mine, and I can't do anything about it. To me, it is just a stupid comic that is all about making fun of something or other. Man, I say something on this and everyone thinks that I can't comprehend people having a different opinion on something. I was hoping. I never said that I hate people who like it. I just hate the comic itself, it is a big jump of reasoning on your part about what I think.
El Sitherino
If you think this is funny, I hope you think it is funny in a stupid way. The whole strip is stupid. I dunno, this comes off as rather condescending. And about political humor; All people need criticism, personally I'd rather someone criticise me in a way that in humorous rather than "Dude, you sux!!!111!!". At least with, most, political humor there is a level of wit and intellect.
RobQel-Droma
At least with, most, political humor there is a level of wit and intellect. That would be where I disagree with you . But no matter, you all know what my view on Boondocks is, so I am not going to say it again.
Aash Li
At least with, most, political humor there is a level of wit and intellect. Yes, I like humour (of any sort actually) with wit and intellect and subtlety, unfortunately, I dont think Boondocks has any of that.
Hannibal
I like the Boondocks too. I like it because he insults everything and uses satire. This isn't the first comic to do so either. No to fond of comics becoming animated shows though. I guess I'll check it out. Rob- I think you got the response you did cause your first post was rather harsh. It's cool that you don't like it. IMO all political satire is forced and polarizing. People will either love it or hate it. The guy who created it(Aaron Brooks I think) is in his early twenties. I like the fact that a young guy is commenting on something with substance and not goofy sex or farting humor like you get from TV and movies. Believe it or not that's a big deal especially since it seems if you don't do crass humor you don't get a chance to get an audience. I can't even watch stand-up comedy anymore. It's the same recycled crap that wasn't funny the first time (or was barely funny). All the good comedians moved to crappy TV shows, crappy movies or retired. spinkle
The creator's name is Aaron McGruder. Like me he was born in 1975, so he hit (or will hit) thirty this year. He holds a degree in Black Studies from the University of Maryland. Rob, hating the comic says two things: first, that you've taken the time to form an opinion. I seriously hope that opinion is based on a long readership of the comic, which would either place you in the ranks of people who would listen to Howard Stern just so they would be able to call the FCC if he slipped up and said something over the line or would demonstrate that you recognize that you cannot base an accurate opinion on a completely casual engagement with the strip--that is, you have to have read enough of it to actually know you don't like it. second, you put a remarkable amount of energy into disliking the comic instead of simply refusing to engage with it. forming an opinion is one thing; going a step further and completely decrying the comic and its creator on the basis of a fundamental, formative disagreement with the values the strip presents takes a hell of a lot more effort than simply not reading it. The purpose of politically-based humor is to provoke thought. (Hannibal is right--it's forced and polarizing comedy in its very nature) obviously, in this sense, Boondocks has succeeded with you, because you've put a lot of thought into disliking it. Personally, I find Boondocks close to being as entertaining as Bloom County (which McGruder actually cites as being one of his primary influences, along with Calvin & Hobbes and--surprisingly--Peanuts), and not nearly as limited nor painful to read as, say, Doonesbury. If the comparison of Emperor Palpatine and Harriet Miers is so disgraceful and shameful--necessitating McGruder's removal from the gene pool (a statement which I find to be an insult to the human race)--I have to wonder what you think of all the editorial cartoons parodying George W. Bush over the time of his term in office that question both his appearance and his level of intellect, which are far more barbed and insulting than clever or satirical and that appear daily in newspapers across the country. RobQel-Droma
Alright, maybe the Darwin Awards thing was a little bit over the top. I was a little worked up when I posted that. Yes, I have taken the time to read the comic. It is right there in the newspaper, how can I miss it? I have seen several, a lot, that just frankly were insulting. Just the kinds of things that they were making fun of, that pretty much makes fun of all the people that participate in whatever it is. I have looked at it a lot, and most the ones I see are about this kind of stuff. I have grown to dislike it. I like Bush. It is just that some comic that makes fun of people this way I despise, on either side. That is all there is too it. I am wondering why people find amusement in this kind of thing, I don't. I realize that people have a different sense of humor, though, of course. That is just my personal opinion.
El Sitherino
I got an idea, you don't like it and we get that, stop posting in a thread dedicated to it. You've given your opinion on the matter already and frankly no one really cares, all you're doing now is creating conflict. I think you're too easily offended if such a tiny, mediocre thing upsets you this much. Grow up and get some sense of reality. I also suggest that if you get that upset, that easily, you not make a post without careful thought placed into it. Better yet, avoid threads that you know will upset you. Damn near every one of you piss me off at some point in the day, but I don't come in and just post **** all, bitching and moaning.

Hannibal
All groups suffer from satire. Christian, Muslim, etc. All presidents, also. I'd say Bush and Clinton have gotten about even. A Republican might feel Bush has gotten more and a Democrat might feel Clinton did. If you search through old newspapers you'd even see that Abe Lincoln was a victim too. No one is left out. Sith- You went kind of hard on him with the "grow up" comment. We all know growing up won't help. Grown ups cause more problems than anyone. You should have suggested he become desensitized to such things. It sounds like the comic might have made fun of something that is important to him. ET Warrior
I think what I like most about boondocks is how it makes fun of everything, and is amazingly insulting. It's the same reason I like TV shows like Family guy or South Park. Nobody is safe from the insults, even people and things I like. It are HA-larious. Hannibal
The Family Guy is very insulting. I laugh so hard tears form in my eyes. It's funny how a cartoon is one of the most non-PC shows on TV.
spinkle
The Family Guy is very insulting. I laugh so hard tears form in my eyes. It's funny how a cartoon is one of the most non-PC shows on TV. for exactly this reason i hope the Boondocks cartoon can live up to both the precedents set by the comic itself and FG =D (though i doubt Huey can approach Peter Griffin's level of stupidity)
RobQel-Droma
Fine then. I will leave. I posted once, then more people commented on it, so I said what it was. Then I apologized for a couple of things I said. Alright, so sometimes I "post first, think later." I make some mistakes some time. I just don't like something that insults somethings that concern me... But then again, I should grow up, shouldn't I? And I should stop posting my opinion on a "boondock's lovers only" thread, right. Or did it just say "boondocks"? But I won't say anymore because I might get carried away.
