Having some problems making a web layout

save as jpeg, scroll the scroller allllll the way to the right(---> that way) so that its at maximum quality...and make sure u havent applied any blurs....also try to use as many "Web Safe Colours" as possible...

I've set the quality to the max. I followed another tutorial to slice it. I'm thinking that the colors might not be "safe". I'll try to make a screenie tomorrow as long as you don't point and laugh. It was for a Frontpage workshop and I needed something quick. But, because FP sucks soooooooooooooo much, I couldn't use it correctly.

Edit: Got bored. Here's a screenie. Hope it's not too big

It's not the final version. But looking at it, yeah, I can see where some of the effects were making it blurry.

By the way, has anyone had good experiences with Nvu?

something i made for a while back. might be useful in case you care to check it out. and the design looks good, but i agree the colors may clash a bit. so i'd just drop the opacity down on them a bit. as far as nvu, never heard of it so i can't help you there. but as far as coding, i could help you get everything covered. :)

EDIT: i googled nvu and seems slightly interesting so i may demo it and see what it can do.

That's my problem. I need to learn the code itself. I would like to get to that point that all I need is notepad, though.

There are many great sites out there to help beginners learn html. SitePoint is a great resource. I have used a few others but at the moment can't remember what they're called. If I remember I'll make sure to post them.

EDIT:

but yeah writing html in notepad is difficult as it's not easy to check your work as you go.

That is something that is a problem with notepad. There is a pretty easy to use HTML editor called WinEdit that I have used in the past. It is basically a souped-up version of notepad, it checks your html for errors and you can preview your work as you go. Actually, I don't know why I stopped using it...
