Jmaster3265
So, as I understand it to gain control over a planet I need a) Destroy all enemy space forces b) Land and destroy all enemy ground forces Sounds easy, but here is the question: if my landing force is not enough to overcome the enemy what will happen? Do I have to bring more forces and try again? Yet, while I am waiting for reinforcements to come the enemy may repair and construct more defences, is that right? And, if my fleet takes too long to arrive the planet forces may construct an ion cannon and drive me off the planet? May it happen that the landing force will never be enough to capture the planet and I will be from time to time forced to retreat? Or I can build War factories on the ground just like in ordinary RTS's, construct tank fists and wipe the enemy off? One more thing: to get control over planet do I have to win a single ground battle? (Sounds weird...)
Athanasios
Nice points here. Well, in order to be ready to invade the planet, it is confirmed that you must destroy all the fleets in orbit. So, you destroy the space fleet around the planet and you have (temporarily) blocked the planet. Now, you send in your forces....where? On the head of a fully anti-air-shielded-impossible-to-land-inside base? I think not. As confirmed, a planet is made up from several maps, giving the impression of a planet, not a single "map" in the whole universe. Let's say -the worst case- that the enemy has establishment in every map of the planet.....well, you must land somewhere, except if you want to experiment with paratroops and para-tanks, which, in my opinion, is not such a good option (leaving a some ton-weight tank from the sky) . Well, in this situation we may have two option: either choose to land somewhere without building/units on the map we want (obviously the least guarded map) or we may be given an "extra" map close to a normal one, only for landing purposes; in both situation, the enemy will be waiting for you with open arms And yes, in the meanwhile the enemy (apart from reatreaing) can build some steel-fiest defences, telling you in a way "this planet can hold up only one and this is me". Obviously, while ou're in orbit, he can build ion cannons or even the dread "hyperspace" weapon seen in the video; these two can anihilate your fleet without even envading. Obviously they're be a consistent problem for your fleet (unless you envade), not to add the high possibility of new enemy fleets arriving the area while you half fleet is disabled from the ion cannon and the other half eradicated one by one by the hyperspace weapon....................well, here is strategy time You either envade the planet as soon as you control the orbit, or wait more backups. One solution, if the enemy does not have weapons that can fire at space (such as ion cannon and hyperspace weapon), i would build up a space station in orbit, so that i secure better the blockade, while letting some of my fleet move around nearby places (ie. to intercept or slow down and incoming fleet)...................many option, Real time strategy need. And as you mention, i think the conquest of a planet will not be one-battle-thing. You build up a stronghold and move slowly. Having the orbit in your hands, the planet should fall faster or slower..............yet, if it doesn't fall, losing contiously forces without an actual outcome may force to retreat you............. After all, there are 40 planets to conquer
shadowsfm
i never heard there was multi maps of each planet. i do kow the planets are huge from the pics. what i do know is, you can only build units and buildings on galactic mode, and you cant decide where to place buildings, and can only place so many. (maybe one planet has a as-st factory while another has the barricks) depinding on the planetss size. when your in combat, galactic mode is paused. when in gound combat, space is paused. on the ground, infintry capture check points, which is a landing area to have more units from space land. then the team with less units retreats, or keep fighting. when the battle is over, then all remaining units of both sides regain all health. when all enemy is wiped, it goes back to galactic map, where you can build more and have reinforsments come to pertect that planet. thats how i understand
Darth_Extas
Accually I agree fully on that basis Shadow. I do know for a fact that the pausing of space & the galactic areas is going to be a feature within the game, so I have nothing to worry about what you understand about the game. shadowsfm
huh? "I have nothing to worry about what you understand about the game." what you mean by that? it would be cool if puasing the galactic map is an option.
Admiral Sith
You can, and in Space and Land, allowing you to detail your plans and make all your units move where you want them when
