keep an open mind though one of the goals of the developers was to "control star wars history" so considiering kyle is a merc whats to stop you from going to a planet and highering ? or you visiting a plaet to do smuggle work but he wants to stay as an solider (although if the opertunity may not be avaible to the empire though.....for some strange reson but still maby you can ? ) han and boba fett working together :p

Matthujun- yeah sorry if I didn't clarify my statement. I'm not exactly saying that luke should be in the game... I agree with you on the timeline issue there. But that's what's bothering me... if Luke isn't involved, how is it that Han and Chewie are?

I think paws you have a good idea, some people could be "hireable" or ... "persuaded." Personally, I think some should be permanently on one side (i.e. darth vader, tarkin, obi wan) but others, like Han and Kyle, should be mercenaries. I dont know about kyle, but before Han met luke... and even a little after he met luke, he was on money's side, not the rebellion or the empire. Wherever the money was, Han went, I think that should be reflected personally but I think it might be a little too late to take it into consideration anyway.

well...

remember that Solo already noticed some time before he was kicked out of the imperial navy, that the empire probably is not the kind of government he likes (slavery for example).

and he was in ... deeper contact to one of the first corellian rebels.

those things and some more probably put him on the rebels side.

@ topic... Darth Vader is in the game, thats enough reason for me, that Skywalker/Organa MUST be in the game as well.

go read the han solo trilogy,

han solo fought in the battle of Nar Shadaar againt the empire, and then helped in the invasion of Ylesia, which is what made Lando pissed at him, as well as a few hundred other smugglers pissed at him, cause the rebels screwed them over. The first was an independant battle not involved with the rebels but still about 3 or so years before a new hope, and Ylesia was a rebel operation.

Jmaster- yeah i looked at that, but I'm trying to make a case to either add luke or remove han... I don't know, some of it doesn't make sense to me.

Logain- I don't read star wars books, sorry... there may be an official canon, but my canon is the Star Wars Movies... they're the things i've grown with and loved, not the books. I read a few before and they kind of ruined it for me... but thanks for explaining the connection to Han being on the rebel side.

Well it all comes down to this, when they say ANH, they don't mean it. Simple as that. They mean for the most part the game will stick to ANH time period. But quite honestly, this is Star Wars: Sandbox almost. There many ships and units you find that don't appear in ANH that are in the game to make the game a little more playable. Adding Kyle Katarn, that touches base with other star wars games and draws a connection to a beloved character. The same with having the planet Korriban in there, a world that's been in both KOTOR games, gets tossed in with this ship. This is your own what if sandbox of sorts, it may losely be based on the movies and have missions that appear straight out of the movies, but it will have an equal number or more missions/ characters straight out of a what if scenario. Hadn't you wondered what the rebellion would be like if Obi-Wan hadn't died on the death star? etc.

As to Luke, somehow I doubt he's going to be left out of this game. I'm thinking that list is incomplete on the website and when you think about it, it's obvious because there arn't enough units in there and there are gaps where you feel a unit should go. (like the fact that the imperials only have one unit on the "Troops" section other than heros or officers)

Well, Han was fighting against the Empire before ANH, just not with the rebels. It's a stretch to put him in there as allied with the rebels, but I'm willing to suspend disbelief.

If not with the Rebels, with who then? Why does it bother so many people? It's only a detail.

Afterall, it wouldn't be good marketing for Han to be with the Imperial, considering a good majority of the buyers never knew that Han was once with the Empire.

They only see him as a Rebel, so he's with the Rebels.
