edlib
I drive a 2001 VW Passat. I don't have a picture of it handy, but I think everybody knows what they look like. Mine's blue, for the record.
Mike Windu
You have to be taller than a vietnamese lady. I am, but the dash isn't supposed to be 2 feet higher than the steering wheel
BongoBob
Nice, I love the Prius I drive my moms 2000 Buick Century. EDIT: Haha, I never noticed until just now how much you look like one of my teachers.
El Sitherino
I am, but the dash isn't supposed to be 2 feet higher than the steering wheel Its not, it's actually pretty much sunken down. The display goes right below your general viewing so you don't really even have to look to see your MPH, gas gauge, etc.

Acrylic
Nice car, dude. Here's a pic of my '99 Grand Am, when I got it on October 31st. I love it so much. Nice for a first car, methinks.
Astrotoy7
Whats the gas mileage on it anyway? MPG/KMPG Linkage but that site http://www.fueleconomy.gov. is really cool. It gives the MPG numbers for most popular cars for the last 15 years. @Tie For example, the 2004 Saturn ion has an average of about 26 mpg. By getting a prius you'll be cutting down your fuel costs by 50% (my previous car had a similar rating) Now I can use all that extra money on women and booze..... jk The EPA numbers are under optimal conditions that are often difficult to replicate, thats why they are high. Generally you can get 45 MPG if you keep your wits about you. Im not one of those prius fanboys that coast down roads at 40kph and never put the a/c on to boost my numbers Theres a readout that is continously calculating the energy consumption. Its a bit weird initially, it sometimes feels like you are playing a game sometimes, trying to get a high score mtfbwya
Lightsaberboy
oooh my family recently got a blue prius. my dad kept showing us the screen and was like "look! it shows how much mileage i'm getting! i can optimize so i can get 99 mpg!!" and our had these little yellow stickers on the rear bumper area to show it was a clean air car and that you can drive in the carpool lane with it even if you're just one person, but i dont see those on your pics... Crow_Nest
the power button's function is linked to when the car is in the "park" gear. Its just like you cant pull the keys out on conventional ignitions whilst the car is in any other gear than park... so yeah, you can press it all you like, the lcd screen tells you to quit foolin until the you put into park, and the car keeps tootling along mtfbwya Doh, i thought it was some cool self-destruct button. Kinda like that car in the James Bond movie

Its a bit of a problem - but luckily I dont need to use the freeway much anymore @Tie : you can drive if you went down to mexico. Ive seen 10 yr old kids driving down there @Rhettski - the gearstick has a handle top that looks like glass but is some type of composite. It always stays nice and cool even if the car has been out baking in the hot aussie sun mtfbwya

Astrotoy7
I hate the back on the car, though. So fatty. But its still pretty cool. part of the liftback section is actually darkened glass... a tribute to the old Honda CRX, which was awesome for its time too... its been mimicked a bit nowdays, in the Merecedes Kompressor and even revamped by Honda in the insight. Its actually ome of my fave little things of the prius, aesthetically mtfbwya

Lightsaberboy
http://lightsaberboy.freewebspace.com/car/car.html that's my beloved POS. a car of the future...but from the past! there's a button on the a/c that makes it swivel back and forth, which i think is cool and i always show people whenever they get in. i did get rid of that huge rust bubble on the back under the rear windshield wiper. scraped it off with an electric brush then put some "bondo" on it and then touch-up paint. good as new!.....well..not really... but anyways... i call 'em grandpa, just cause he's been through so much. lately tho grandpa's been having some bladder problems tho as it seems that he's leaking oil, so i have to check that out.
