Important Info before posting a demo review

I have noticed in the demo reviews and comments the same complaints by people. Please note the following:

(1) Building units and moving fleets have been sped up for the demo, in the retail version it takes longer to create units and move fleets.

(2) Read the readme, there are camera controls to rotate and move the camera in both ground and space battles as well as in the cinimatic view

(3) The AI is extreamly dumbed down for the demo so you can learn to use the units shown without coming under heavy attack. In the full version its much much smarter.

(4) The demo was made from a build in December so things will have been tweaked and changed in the final version.

Hope this will help when you write your reviews and offer suggestions to the developers

Please post reviews in the demo review section so the dev's can read it.

Ive never wrote a review before so bare with me:-

Some of the bad points,

The demo was to short, i was hoping that it would be one of the longer galatic maps, also i thought the galatic maps were to you to play the galaxy as you whatted with out any sernaros to follow and that the maps were there to choose how many planets etc you whatted.

Also the land battle didn't feel right, it didn't seem very "star wars".

The space battle, i didn't like when i orded my fighters/ships to targat a hard point on the station, as they didn't seem to fire at them, they looked to be firing at the center of it and the hard point would be destroyed.

The good points:-

Even thought masterjack has said that the AI was Dumbed down, i found the land battle the AI was a real challage, it took me 6 goes to defeat them.

I really like the Native species, exsplay the rancor and the Pit, they seemed to behive like they would.

The space battle, although it was very easy, the effects are down to a tea, with the exsplosions of the differtent hard points and the final exsplosion of the ships.

With that said, i am still buying the game. and i give the demo a 4/5 or 85%

Ive heard a lot of people complaining about very overpowered Millenium Falcons and Bombing Runs, whats your explamation on that

I have no explanation, the tips I posted come from developers posts for peoples information.

My personal opinion is that the falcon's overpowering influence is only present because the empire has no hero present in their fleet. If there was I don't think it would be as one sided as it is in the demo. As for the bombing runs, we will have to see in the full version how it works out. Anti air turrets would help I would think.

Plus, that the smart AI we have in demo does not send all the squadrons of ties after Falcon. I don't know if it does it in the final game, but surely the devs will have taken in account that heroes are valuable for a player and should have fixed the code correctly.

About the camera, since im the only to have complaint about it :), i have seen the readme instructions, found how to scroll around etc. but the problem is the angle view when in ground. I'll try and the last hotkey "Camera Tether" to see what it does, and i'll reply back ;)

The only thing i found negative with the demo, was it runs slow at high *i forget the tool that makes the edges smooth etc* it makes he cinematic mode run slow as well as graphics set full blast. Also i was disapointed that there was no skirmish.

This depends on each system each one has, it doesn't run slowly on all computer even at full video option. At mine, for example, i have every single bar set on max, while playing on a 1280x1024 75Hz (or 70HZ, don't remeber the max frequency) -since ViewSonic VX724 is manufactured to play best at this analysis-.

Yet, i think a small skirmish should be nice or if we could save at galactic conquest, so that we build huge armies.

But whatever, it's a demo, the full games arrives shortly ;)

Well the gameplay doesn't load slow just the cinematic mode, you sure it doesn't run slow for you anything? No computer or graphics card can do that....none are perfect.

True, no system is perfect, technology always advances, yet for the particular game/demo we talk about, some systems do run in perfectly, as it meant to be.

***Back to topic. Masterjack, i tried every single camera control. In ground, you simply cannot scroll down no matter the zoom level. Only when you zoom in, you can see some horizon, in other words, it looks like there's a strict connection between zoom level - scroll down when in ground. The camera angle from above is steep, i simply cannot see my whole units while seeing ahead, and this is what i don't like.

All I want is a way to zoom without requiring a mousewheel.

Is there no keyboard shortcuts to zoom in and out?

Some trackball devices and other inputs don't have a mousewheel and I don't want to buy a special mouse to switch out just for the game.

I didnt see anywhere to bind zoom to any alternate commands.

well, its not like a mouse with a wheel is expensive. they are standard on practically all brands of mice.

i saw a MS LASER mouse with a wheel that retailed for around $20 Australian, thats like $13 USD .... well worth shelling out for!
