Shuz
If you don't mind older graphics you could try LucasArt's back catalogue of excellent adventure games like Day of the Tentacle and Sam N Max. A more recent one is Bone which you have to buy online. It's kinda short but you only pay US$20 or so. There;s also Anhk (sp?) which is coming out soon or is already out. It's a fun adventure set in Egypt.
VampireNaomi
Definitely Broken Sword! They're really funny and colourful and still have interesting and exciting plots. You can get the first two for a really cheap price here. Give them a try, you'll love them.
James Isaac
Or, if you want some free games, and don't mind if the games aren't too polished and professional, you could try some amateur adventure games: http://adventuredevelopers.com/games.php?onlystat=avail http://www.adventuregamers.com/underground/index.php
VampireNaomi
James' post reminded me of Flight of the Amazon Queen. It's an older but really funny game that has been released as freeware. It's sort of like a mixture between Indiana Jones and Monkey Island. You need to download SCUMMVM to play it, but that's not an obstacle. Go and play!
