Justus Posted February 13, 2006 Share Posted February 13, 2006 Crafter's were the backbone of the previous game system, without them the entire system would've failed - the reason SOE saw such a huge vaccum once the NGE was released because alot, I don't want to say the majority but it's very close, of players apparently were of the crafting profession - once the rug was pulled out from under them they left the game. I know a few crafters that left the game because they were practically shunned when the NGE took effect. Enhanced loot drops for one, that was promised never to happen because of the disadvantage it would be to crafters, the entire economy was pretty reliant on weaponsmiths, armorsmiths, tailors, etc. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

This private server, while a good idea, is against the law however. I doubt SOE would turn a blind eye while someone hosts a private server and could, potentially, steal their business. I sure wouldn't have the guts to do something like that, even if I did have the knowledge to. SOE has said repeatedly they will not go back to a pre-NGE state - corporations are known to go against their own words, and I do wish that SOE would do that, but it is highly unlikely. Also whoever posted that on Sony's very own SWG forum is really asking for it if any of this is true - the idea of a private server would be so that the designer/developers of the game wouldn't get wind of it so easily, posting this over at starwarsgalaxies.com is like running overt in Bestine pre-CU. SOE cannot bust these modders before they have proofs about them having a private server set up anyway, so I do not think there's anything wrong with posting it on the official. Apparently this forum escaped detection, but MMORPG.com got threatened with a lawsuit for posting that information on their forums, and the person that posted the material got warned about a perma-ban - he was just relaying the information he got from somewhere else, but since he posted it he assumed responsibility. Just because they threatoned to dose not mean they can. That being said if any of the stuff they used was copyrighted and did not fall under the fair use clause they could be sued. Maybe someone who bought the game before they changed it should threaten a lawsuit. If enough people did they mite change it back just so they don't have to pay the the legal fees. Take the number of lawyers they have working for them and then the number of people who are pissed. I dought the numbers are the same they mite change it back at the mere threat of a lawsuit.
