I really don't know how to feel about these new toys...

I may be wrong, but I believe Hasbro has creative control when it comes to the toyline. They generally do when they get contracts.

Besides, this junk is made for little kids. And what do little kids like? **** that transforms into other **** with big battle crap all over it. Remember the Batman toys?

Batman never had a giant ****ing hammer suit to battle the Joker, but they still made that toy.

I shudder whenever I think about Batman toys. I remember when I was a kid I would stop by the Batman section in toy stores and even then I though most of it was stupid. This make me think that kids today think that a lot of this stuff is stupid too. But they do make some decent Batman stuff though.

Agreed. The best Batman toys came from the Antimated Series line. They had multiple characters and you could get really dumb versions, but you could also get them in their normal outfits (with really dumb accessories I opted to leave in a box). Later on, in all these multipacks I kinda wish I got instead of individual figures, you could get people they never made as a single figure. Jim Gordon and Alfred to name a few. I know there was a Talia al Ghul, but they may have made her as a single figure. I really don't remember.

I can't believe Mattel messed up the line as much as Hasbro. Hasbro got rid of it because it was failing. They couldn't see why no one was buying it? If I were in charge, I'd make one Batman per wave and have the rest of the items allies and badguys. Not the other way around. Kids don't need a million Batmans. They don't want a million Batmans. I'd be happy with just one Batman in a black or gray getup and several villains and allies for him to go along with.

Agreed. Mattel finally started some waves with one (1) Batman and several villains. Yay!

As for Hasbro, WTH? I can't believe they're still in business. Their creative control is horrid. The Transformer stuff is just repackaging of the Japanese toys.

Example of Hasbro stupidity:

1) The prequel sabers turned off if it didn't "clash" for 15 sec. I can't even try a fancy kata before it goes off?

2) The speaker is in the middle of the ROTS hilts. That means no movement hum and no sound whatsoever, because my hand is covering the speaker.

3) The blade brightness can only be seen in total darkness, like a closet. Therefore the Anakin ROTS colour-change saber is a waste of money. :tsk:

LFL should be glad they got the billions for the license, but don't expect any repeat customers. Should of went to Toy Biz. Check out their Marvel Legends while they still have 'em, before the license goes to Hasbro in 2007. :(

Actually, Mattel fell into the same pattern as Hasbro with Batman. And Hasbro is in business because they know which licenses will sell and buy them. Have you ever heard of this company called Mego? I think they'd be the top dog hadn't they passed on the SW license. Back in the day, they made everything. Planet of the Apes (first movie to spawn the merchandising we're used to today), Marvel and DC heroes, and Star Trek are among the many licenses they held. I think them passing on SW led to their downfall. Hasbro also had cartoons made to promote their "original" toylines (Transformers, GI Joe, My Little Pony, etc) which made them so successful.

Hasbro buys out other companies like Tiger and Galoob to make themselves even bigger. Who knows. They mighta bought out Mego during the '80s because the Dukes of Hazzard was one of the last lines I know Mego did.

Kenner. Now there was a toy company. They made decent toys; at least in the Star Wars department. It seems like when they were bought out the Star Wars toys started to crap out on us.

Kenner and Hasbro have always been somehow linked, haven't they? I've seen the name used interchangabley even before SW figures said Hasbro on the packaging. Also, it's weird (I think at least) that two big companies would both be based in Pawtucket, RI.

But I agree, the PotF2 line from '95-'99 is my all time favorite series.
