Lorden Darkblade
But soon, we gamers will have to upgrade, cuz only Vista will support DX10. XP won't. So I guess that very soon either we upgrade or someone finds a way to make DX10 run on XP...
TiE23
Hurray for my going-to-be-worthless $290 7800GS! *ah~ I'm dead*
Lorden Darkblade
I don't think so TiE, I heard some of the high-end cards will support DX10. Well, at least I heard the X1800 and X1900 will... Not sure though...

Prime
I think I'll wait to upgrade after all this stuff sorts itself out.
toms
For anyone who's interested there is a HUGE hands-on article on Tom's Hardware that explores the vista beta and how vista will affect an average user. http://tomshardware.co.uk/2006/05/31/windows_vista_uk/ (or if you want to try out transparent windows and can cope with linux then look here: http://lunapark6.com/?p=1235)
Commander Obi-Wan
I think I'll wait a while, I am fine with what I have and I'll switch when it's necessary.
LightNinja
well, i have to buy a new graphic card soon, mine has the fan broken, so...i'd better wait? and how much time?
Lorden Darkblade
Honestly, if you can wait then wait, but if you can't, then sitdown and cry cuz I'm not sure if the mid-end and high-end cards will support DX10. I'm praying so my one does. Fix the fan of yours. Can't be that expensive.
LightNinja
well, mine is a 5600, so even if i fix the fan i'd have to buy one, because im just limited to play games under the quality of bf1942 (i dont like to play with minimum requieriments other games), and the card itself its a bit damaged, so it doesnt reach it's total potential
Mike Windu
I think I'll upgrade to this in 6 years when I get another computer.
Jeff
I don't think I'll be getting this OS any time soon. I'm fine running Ubuntu and I've been thinking about trying out OS X too.
toms
The Tom's Hardware (no relation) preview is worth a quick scanthrough.. though its basically just a lot of screenshots and a few accompanying comments.. it also doesn't have anything about gaming (except the built-in games) as DX10 isn't finalised yet. Some of it looks quite good... though the overwhealming impression I get is that it is windows XP (and therefore 2000) with a nice skin and some usalility tweaks. I thought they were starting again from scratch this time? Many of the options panels (such as networking) look almost the same (and therefore just as insanely obtuse and unusable) as they did in previous versions. I was hoping they'd start with a clean slate and actually plan some of those out logically.. rather than just keep adding bits to what is already a mess. Oh well.
