Jade empire is hitting PC

Well, my point was more about marketing a one year old game. I'm sure they must have studied the market thoroughly before doing the port but the hype and "new" feeling about the game has died out a long time ago.

I find it weird that they didn't do this sooner. It would've made sense 12 months ago, to start doing something like this.

Bioware wasn't going to release a PC version of Jade Empire at all. It was supposed to be strictly an XBox game, and that was the only intention for it.

But fans requested, then demanded, a PC version, so Bioware is making one.

Some of you may say there is no interest for this game on PC because it is a year old game, but I'll say this, I am VERY interested! And a lot of my online friends are interested.

Just because you don't like it, didn't like it, or aren't even interested in it doesn't mean that everyone thinks that way.

That Bioware WOULD even consider and decide to re-release a year old game, and add tweaks to said game, to me proves that Bioware is willing to listen to fans when it comes to their games. And this is one more (of many) reasons that Bioware rocks my socks when it comes to gaming.

Doesn't matter to me if it's a year old, the age of a game rarely affects its quality. Seems to me that the graphics and world representation are the only things that are improving in games nowadays anyway.

I often get games that are a few years old since by then my computer has usually caught up with the crazy hardware requirements most games have and I can play them with all graphic options enabled. :)

I tend to agree. Although, I have found developers' creativity to be constricted by the demands of a modern gamer; we want voice acting, we want cutscenes, and we want lovely animations. Gone are the days where you can say, "The old man sneezes and turns around to look at you." Now you have to have that all portrayed by animations and voice actors. Now that particualr scene may nbot be too hard to show, but sometimes when developers are too ambitious for their engine... the game doesn't come off so well.

Anyway, I'll probably buy it for the computer seeing as how it's BioWare. They make cheese but I don't care: It is always good quality cheese :D.

I know that and I think it's pretty obvious...

It seems there's enough fans to warrant a port. At least Bioware realizes that there's money to be made.

Online friends. That's my point. It seems weird to me that there's enough potential to release this over a year after.

Just because you don't like it, didn't like it, or aren't even interested in it doesn't mean that everyone thinks that way.

Doesn't mean that those who are indeed interesting consitute a big enough group to justify making profits with this port.

Though it would seem there is.

Well, forgive me for being cynical, but they saw a potential to make a buck or two. That's the thing. If they would not make any money, they wouldn't do that.

I'm not saying that "everyone" is not interested, I'm saying that it's weird now, after such a long time, they decide to port it. Obviously, Bioware did its homework and saw that there was potential. I just wonder if they should have done this sooner and possibly maximize profit when the game was still fresh in everyone's mind.

You guys better start working on an Ultimate Katana Mod (UKM) :roleyess: in case it DOES have an override folder...

I haven't played it on X-Box (since i don't have it), so could anyone who does have it answer some of my questions?

-Is there a good/bad way of playing? I heared about the 'closed fist' or 'open palm' but isn't that something regarding a fighting style?

-At the Bioware site, thet stated there will be many new things, but armor wasn't one of them. Is there armor in Jade Empire?

-Is it true that instead of consular, guardian etc. you know have different fighting styles?

Thanks in advance...

I'll try, but it has been a little while! ;)

There is, the way of the 'Open Palm' is akin to the LS play in KotOR, the 'Closed Fist' is readily akin to the DS.

Open Palm = Light Side

Closed Fist = Dark Side

If you follow one way or the other is entirely up to you, but the game has it's perks for being one side or the other. ;)

There really isn't equipment per-se in Jade Empire, that's what I really like about it, it isn't like KotOR in that respect, you do pick up odd stuff to be sure, it just works very differently than in KotOR.

As far as equipment, you do get an amulet that has it's own equip screen, you can change crystals around in, the crystals have properties that can be thought of as your equipment. You can find or purchase various crystals during play. You also can expand your amulet in the game to hold more crystals. ;)

You can also purchase training from people, like Iron Skin that gives your character innate bonuses, you have to be careful because these are permanent once purchased and they can have penalties as well.

Carried weapons are actually part of your fighting styles, so they also don't work like in KotOR, but I see this as a plus.

-Is it true that instead of consular, guardian etc. you know have different fighting styles?

From what I recall, there are 3 basic types of characters for each gender, one pure strength, one pure speed, and one balanced.

You can learn many different fighting styles during gameplay, on top of your original ones, fighting styles also are set into different catagories. Some are purely defensive, some offensive, some are evenly mixed, and others are Magical (like throwing Fire or Ice attacks, or Transformation Styles). As you level up you get points that you can put into your different known Fighting Styles to increase your potency or ability in that style.

It is really cool, and I do anticipate modding the heck out of this game... :D

Thanks for answering :D

It sounds realy interesting! It seems a bit kotor-ish, with some twist. I realy like the way you gain skillsm like you described. I can't wait to make nice combo's!

Maybe it's good that the weapon you carry depends on the fighting styles. You can then totally focus on the battle, and skills, instead of your weapons damage.

Again, thanks for answering, i'll definately buy it :)
