LordReserei
Can anyone give me any advice? I got an idea for a "Data Retrieval System" which allows you to extract irreplacable files from a computer when a computer is really buggered like my own. inspired by "Star Trek: Voyager-The Futures End Pt.1 & 2" in which Capt.Janeway downloaded data from a computer on to a "Tri-corder". I know the "Tri-corder is not possible @ the mo, but my system's similar. using state of the art technology and some intergrrated software which will need to be produced. the software will need to able to compress 1Gb to 10Mb. how can I go about this? except not telling anyone which I've done. EnderWiggin
Umm... You want to know how to create a program that compresses to 1/100 size? And then you want to download that compressed file onto digital media from a crashed system? Quite high expections from Ahto these days, huh? _EW_
HerbieZ
Mhmm id wait for a major company to invent compression technology like that. I know the military have advanced methods at the moment, apparantly they are able to compress many gigabytes into a single encrypted code. Like "wombat". But then again, i think Chronowerx are coming up with something like that very soon.
The Doctor
Yeah... uhm... Future's End also had a time ship and a mobile holographic emitter. You want to make those, too?

D'oh 1. its not possible ot compress a 1/100 ratio. 2. there is only a few ways besides sending it in to get the data recovered. 1. norton ghost made so it forces a ghost image on to another hard drive. 2. wait until we know the stop error of your other thread. REDJOHNNYMIKE
That's a good idea... Unfortunately I've already done it;) This is my all encompassing plethora of ideals, polito/religo/philosophical arguments, allphysics constant variables, random whitty, various thesis discussing the possibilities of why forum members don't really exist, and my opus "The Answers to Life, Death, and the Occassional Slice of Pizza". Or, as you may now pay homage to.... PLATYPUS!!! that's how I roll
