Alegis
That title is somewhat exaggerated. Yeah it can run folding@home, as can your PC right now. Oh well, for the better.
BongoBob
So what, is this gonan run when you're not playing the PS3 no matter what, or is it an optional application for you to run?
Lynk Former
It'd have to be optional for various reasons, but yeah, this isn't anything big since anyone with a PC can choose to do this with a simple download. You could potentially do this with the Xbox360 and Wii if someone made a program for them.
toms
But its the Cell Processor!!! Its more powerful than any supercomputer known to man! Still, its actually the first appealing thing i've seen about the PS3.. but buying a games console just for its cancer-curing screensaver seems a little daft. BongoBob
I'm all for the company buying an assload of ps3s to use to help cure cancer, but then that would make sony think people are buying ps3s

jon_hill987
I'm running seti@home on my PC right now (I know my sig says i havn't done anything, I have, it is just not updating for some reason), the thing is you do leave a computer on when it isn't in use (mainly because they take forever and a day to boot up) but a console? I don't think so. They will be switched off and the software will do nothing.
Lynk Former
This news goes under the same category that the "PS2 can launch nuclear weapons" and "Saddam will use the PS2 as a super computer" crap is under...
DarthAve
"This is retarded and rediculas, and retardiculas." I don't believe it at all. PS3 is not God, it doesn't have healing powers, even with it's tecknowledgy. Sony's just making bogus claims to make people not buy a 360 and Halo 3, but to buy a PS3.
