That info is not confirmed yet, I'll beleive it when I hear it from Reggie :p (but it's higly probable, even if that would mean the NYT broke a major NDA :D)

It has however been confirmed that the Wii will be released on December 2nd for 25,000 (tax incl.) yen in Japan. Which makes it roughly 215 USD if we convert the price directly. We should get the confirmation for the North and South America launch date tomorrow from the NY conference.

Yeah, I was hoping for a lower price... honestly. But Wii sports is a pack-in game.

Yeah I was hoping for $200. It just sounds better. I guess Wii Sports is nice to have anyways. It's still pretty affordable.

Besides the fact that Mario Galaxy and Smash Bros. Brawl make it priceless.

Wii has no DVD movie playback. They ommited it to keep the price down and because so many people already have a DVD player now days. Smart decision IMO.
It's not a big deal or anything, but I'm on the fence about this one. On one hand I don't buy a console to watch dvds, I buy it to play games. But on the other hand it's convienient to have a dvd player built in.

Not to mention Metroid Prime: Corruption and The Legend of Zelda:Twilight Princess... In which Link is now right-handed ! :p

Boy, those pictures just keep lookingworse and worse don't they! Shame this wasn't released a year or so ago when the graphics would have looked more impressive. SOME antialiasing would be nice...

No DVD player is most annoying.. I'm going to pick one up in japan.. but i guess now i'll have to buy a dvd player over there too. sigh.

*Reads ign report*

Hmm..

- one colour = annoying. You'd think they'd at least release in the same colours as the DS lite so you could get matching ones.

- 30 Virtual console games isn't a lot to start with.. people were expecting a lot more.

- photo and movie viewing could be interesting.. depends on how they are done. (online options, limitations, etc..)

- Wii channels sound ok.. but i bet they aren't customisable enough and are too limited. Wonder if they can use a standard tech like RSS.

- Opera not free = sucks.

No earth shattering announcement yet then... like they promised?

*goes off to do more research*

$250 does seem excessive.. though it does include Wii Sports.

However the Wii (and especially Wii sports) seems mostly designed around being a fun, multiplayer, party console.. so the fact it only comes with one controller, and the extra controllers are about $60 is going to hit them hard.

I'd guess they put the price up after seeing how expensive the PS3 will be. BUt being only $50 less than the 360core isn't that great.

Personally I think that for $250 they need to throw in a second Wiimote (even if there is only 1 nunchuck).

Mii looks cute but pointless.

The photo app looks sweet.. very intuitive and quick. However its also rather pointless given that you can't actually STORE your photos on the Wii as it has no HDD/mass storage. So all you can do is view the pics on your camera's memory card.

Since I always want to touch up my photos, and tag them, I always need to transfer them back to my PC.. so there are never any photos on my memory card to start with. Shame cos it looks nice. Would be nice if it could view pics wirelessly off your PC though...

Wii weather looks nice.

Wii news - don't have enough info. Will suck if you can only get it off nintendo.. but be better if its RSS.

Still think $5 is too much for a NES game.

Looks like Opera supports flash, which some claimed it wouldnet. That is good.
