Ebon Hawk + Leviathan Save Bug (with bonus lesbian conversation!)

On route to capture by a certain massive starship, I made the mistake of saving between two loading screens. Since I was sending each of my characters to the Leviathan's prison then reloading right after, in order to see each person's escape attempt, my first (and last) reload took me straight to a bugged savegame between game loads.

At this point, I was in control of my main character, and was able to move freely around the Ebon Hawk. No amount of time, discussion or movement brought the game to the scene aboard the Leviathan, even cheats. By all rights, I was stuck.

All of the NPCs aboard were circled around the main table area, and were by and large simply repeating dialogue they had spoken previously.

With one notable exception.

I was playing a Light Side female character, and pursuing a relationship with Carth... but it wasn't he who had something very interesting to say. Rather, I got macked on by Juhani.

Now I don't remember the exact conversation, but it went something like this:

Juhani: "I don't know what's going to happen from here on out, but I have to confess that I've grown to admire you... in a way that I am almost afraid to admit."

I had three or four choices to respond with, but I only clearly remember three. The first was an extreme disavowal ("I don't swing that way!"), the second was a reciprocation ("I feel the same way...") and I think the last was a polite dismissal ("We'll talk about this later.").

Juhani had an understandable reaction to each one: "I apologize. I have made a mistake," "It delights me to hear that, now let's focus on the now," and "You are right. We'll discuss this later," respectively.

Anybody else have this surprising, albeit somewhat hidden, conversation? I had no clue that Juhani might be a lesbian before this really unique dialogue.

If your PC is female, you can advance the convo options to where she says she wishes she had your heart, or something like that. And yeah, Juhani's gender of choice is alluded to, but not explicitly stated in the game. If you don't manage to redeem her on Dantooine, the jedi Belaya reams you out when you get back to the enclave, then storms off to show up later as a Sith on Korriban. And she's not happy to see you.

Looking back on what I wrote, I think it gives the wrong impression. Whatever word she used (not "admire") was definitely relationshippy in its connotation... possibly something like "grown to care for you."

Don't worry, I'm not a young kid who sees gay and lesbian tendencies wherever I want to see them. Whatever she said, it was really obvious (and in stark contrast to her previous admissions of admiration and respect). I just hope there's a Kotor-er out there somewhere who is near the Leviathan and could back me up on this. If not, I'll just turn my male PC female at that point and see if Juhani won't spill the beans again! Then I'll have a more accurate transcription for you, my fellow Star Wars nuts.

Perhaps I can provide some assistance with this matter. :) Here is most of the pertinent Juhani and PC dialog tree from k_hjuh_dialog.dlg in case anyone wishes to review.

Cutmeister, that is exactly the dialogue I was referring to. Thanks for the backup!

I suppose the argument can be made that she's just being shy, but two things call that into question:

- Juhani seems way too shy and apologetic to be admitting feelings of simple friendship, especially considering that she's already thanked the main character for his/her support profusely.

- More importantly, I just bugged my game into the Ebon Hawk once more, but this time with a male PC. Juhani, instead of her meek admittance of feelings for the PC, merely says that she doesn't want to die, but she would feel honored to die by with the PC. No other feelings are involved.

By the way, Canderous has an extra line, as well. He says, "I don't think we can delay much here. We should fight our way out as quickly as possible."

Everyone else is stuck on their usual, "What do you know of this planet?" and "What are all these Gizka doing here?" etc... options.

Thanks for all of your patience while I tested this out, even though Cutmeister just undid my thirty hours of KotOR work with a ten minute sift, cut and paste! Weenie!

Sorry you couldn't have your cake and eat it too. ;) Actually it was probably closer to 30 minutes as it took me a while to find the right dialog file. If only you had checked back earlier you could have saved yourself from all that extra work. :D

Stanley Woo, one of the Bioware staff, confirmed that Juhani was supposed to hit on a female Revan. If you kill her, you also get Belaya defecting to the Sith out of grief for her "dear companion." So, yeah. The cat's marching in the Pride parade.

In the X-Box version or an unpatched PC edition, you CAN get the romance dialogue with a male Revan, it's just difficult.
