Hey, guys, I'm new around here so I wanted to get started by telling you

that I have heard a rumor about a person (famous author or not, I won't say) that will probably write a book about Revan's rise and how he became a Sith Lord.

I was wandering what you guys think about it, and what would you like to find out about Revan's early years??? Please comment.

First off, welcome to the Forums. Anyway, unless any public information is released, I guess that a book on Revan's past won't be released and it will be left to Fanfic writers, who decide what Revan's past is like. Shouldn't this be in Ahto, since this isn't a released Fic?

Whether or not this is moved, it's an interesting topic. I'd love a novel about Revan's life, and I'd definitely give it a read. Though the great thing about KotOR right now is that, since it's so flexible in storyline, fan fic writers have a lot more creative license. When canon rears it's ugly head, writers tend to lose a bit more of their creativity and gravitate around the edges of what the official canon source is.

Such a book would make a lot of sense. After all, Revan's time as the dark lord prior to KotOR1 is relatively unexplored, even though there are references to Darth Bane later having learned of thought bombs from Darth Revan's holocron.

A book? Strange... I always thought that passage of Revan's background was ideal for a very linear FPS or RTS game, probably the latter, I'd say. I mean, a KotOR-era game similar to Battlefront or Empire at War.

But as far as getting closer to Revan's background and describing him as a character, a book is probably a better idea.

And welcome to the forum.

Rumors are unrelaible in this day and age. Therefore, I'd doubt a book would be written.

In all fairness, the reason the KOTOR storyline works is because it is so vague. Nobody knows what really happened. If you remove the mysteriousness of the story, you get rid of the debates (which I really enjoy). Of the fan fics (which I don't care much, but others do, and it makes them have fun). Of the various interperations, of the double meanings and hidden conspiracies.

So, no book on Revan. Please. We must never know about Revan, since not only is it our character, but KOTOR is our story as well.

@ Jediphile: Orly. Where did you read these references? I haven’t read all that much eu (although I have done some reading about cannon / eu.)

As for the book....well I have mixed feelings. My fic will extend directly through that period, and I admit that I might be sad if the book conflicted with my own story. I spend a lot of my free moments thinking about the short and long term of my storyline, (yes I know.....SLOW!) how the characters personalities are translated through what I know of the games, etc.

Although, I might as well be writing a book considering how many revisions the first three chapters have gone through. :xp:

Personally I see Revan as a male and the Exile as a female. I have no clue whether the latter agrees with cannon.......

I personally would not want a book about Revan. I think it would ruin the KOTOR experience for a lot of people. I perfer that Revan stay our(the player's) character. We all have an idea of what Revan (and the Exile) is like, by gender and ethnic appearance. A book would ruin that for many.

Last i haered, that was only mentioned on Wookiepedia. I have no problem with that but people say the Wookiepedia is not canon.

Nothing on that site is considered "canon". It's a woefully unreliable source for any kind of information. Like another similar site, but that's another debate.

Besides, everything is so debatable in the Star Wars universe that nobody can find a common ground on which to agree on what's canon and what's not.

As for the rumour, we'll see. I'm not sure it has any foundation, but since it could make a decent amount of money, you never know. It could be enough to spark an idea in one of the execs' brain.
