Renn nodded at Kyo. "Toast, bacon, and three eggs over easy," he said as he scrawled the order on the slate.

Renn took Istergard's order next, and then politely excused himself from the table as he went to wake the monk Bora-Cho to see what he wanted to eat... or more likely drink for breakfast.

"So Kyo, how was your night?" Carwyn asked.

"Just fine." Kyo answered, his gaze swivling to the ranger. He looked between Tellis and Carwyn, who's appearence was still quite mussed. "You seemed to have a wonderful night yourself. Why do you ask about me?"

Aya's mouth felt suddenly very dry. She didn't like the fact that Renn was aware that she had spent the night with Kyo, but she really didn't like it that Carwyn seemed to be aware of it now, too. Not to mention that it appeared that Tellis had spent a comfortable night in the room that Aya had paid for but not used.

She picked up the nearest jug of water and poured herself a cup. "Anyone else need a drink?" she asked, hoping to change the focus of the conversation.

Tellis raised her hand. "I'll take a glass. I'm parched." She smiled at Aya.

Carwyn watched as Tellis took the glass from Aya. Then it dawned on him. "Shoot, Aya." He looked at her sheepishly. "I took your room away from you, didn't I?" Then he had another epiphany. "Oh, and Tellis just made a house call to check on me and make sure I hadn't skewered myself on anything," he added quickly.

Aya's brow raised. "Oh?" She looked at Tellis. "You didn't sleep with Carwyn last night?" She suddenly gasped, realising what had just come out of her mouth. "I mean, in Carwyn's room," she backtracked quickly, "Not with...," her voice trailed off as she felt like she wanted to just crawl away under the table and hide.

Tellis smirked softly. "No, I didn't sleep in his room, Aya. I had one of my own over at the Wavering Wind." She sipped her water. "I just thought it would be good to check on him."

Carwyn looked at Aya's furious blushing, then at Tellis' serene expression, then Kyo's impassive face. "Yeah, she was just being nice," he agreed. "I still feel kinda bad about putting you out of your room though." He ran his hand through his messy hair. "I mean the bed was big enough, so you didn't have to spend it outside in the cold."

At her shocked expression, he immediately realized what he'd said. "Er...um...I mean..." He went for a crooked smile. "Damn that Frood character," he sighed.

Kyo smirked, looking away from the others as the conversation drew on. They were pathetic, really...Tellis was quite detatched, and seemed to be able to word her sentances well enough because of it, but the other two...they were bumbling around like two blind mice. It was easy enough to see the attraction between the ranger and merchant.

"Let's keep the conversation civil, shall we?"

Aya managed a weak but embarrassed grin for Akira and Kyo, but avoided looking at Carwyn. She took a sip of water, then a deep, cleansing breath. The morning had only just begun, but already she knew it was going to be a difficult day. But a change of subject was desperately needed.

"Speaking of civil...." She set down her cup. "Anyone planning to go to the market today? It's the Quarter Market. Lots more traders for this one than most times. Lasts most of the week."

He nodded his head, pushing the 'smore back to her saying "I can make volcano 'smores anytime. The fact is, I can do it without the actual volcano. The volcano's just for show. As for jobs out here, the only ones that I've heard for Aeromacers out here are moving ships along, though it doesn't look like you have your sea legs yet from what I saw."

Then his face turned into smile with a dash of homesickness in it and said "I'm just want to get scouting the east and north over with so I can go back home for a job. Not that I don't like meeting new people like you." Especially like you, Toa thought unconsciously.

"That's nice," Hoshiko said, her thoughts drifting off for a while. She snapped back to reality almost instantly and smiled at him. "Well, here we are," she said, pointing out the inn. "Nice talking to you." Going inside, she fell asleep almost instantly.

Aya nodded. "Hope you find it," she said. "I'd offer to help you, but I really should make some deliveries to make before I set up my stall. And I'm not exactly sure where you might have lost it. Things happened so fast last night...." She unconsciously rubbed her neck, then looked at Kyo and Akira. "But maybe one of you can go with him? I mean, you were both there. You must have seen where Carwyn laid his coat down."

"Good night to you also." Toa said to Hoshiko. After getting himself booked at the inn for the night, he went to bed also.

Toa was standing on a mountain, overlooking a great desert, giant hills jutting out of the ground at a few places, and he knew that this was the east. But that was not what had his attention. It was the two massive armies clashing below that caught his attention.

On one side were beings of wind and lightning, who were probably the good guys since they didn't look as hideous as the other army, although that probably didn't mean anything. But the fact that it was being lead by a woman who's powers of Aeromacery were unmatched, as compared to the other army that was lead by a Demon.

In fact, the whole other army was made of demons and evil spirits. The leader was, unsurprisingly, the dark humanoid wielding a giant scythe.

"Are you enjoying the battle?" a gruff, old voice erupted behind him causing him to jump. Toa turned around to see a large man clad in white dragon armor, with a scepter of intricate design at the head and with white flame. Toa knew who this was instantly.

"Pyro," Toa said kneeling in respect.

"Rise and answer my question. There is no time for pleasantries on the battlefield." Pyro said.

"Umm, I guess. Aren't you going to help her?" Toa asked.

"Aero never accepts help. The last time I tried she nearly blew my armor off. Besides, she can handle herself just fine." Pyro said with a father-like chuckle.

Toa laughed too relaxing and asked "Why am I dreaming this?"

Pyro smiled and said "This is the last battle of the east, before all the elemental armies converged on the north and Obakenare sealed the gate. The reason you are dreaming this is simply because you want, or, need to."

"Need to?"

"Not everything is hard because people think things are hard."

"A western speaking in riddles like a southern? Now I know I must be dreaming. And isn't the east supposed to have a lot of water instead of sand?"

"Who's to say that the world can't change? We can."

"You sound just like my father."

Pyro just let out a large laugh and gave him a bear hug, nearly crushing Toa, and said "I haven't been called something like that in a long time."

"No *gasp* kidding *gasp*."

Pyro set him down and said "Now watch. You may learn a thing or two assuming the lava in your head hasn't hardened." The he disappeared in a flash of bright light. Toa turned around in time to see the last of the Demon army being defeated, the survivors being surrounded. Their leader was among them also. Aero, as he assumed that was the woman's name, stepped forward and said something, also Toa couldn't make it out. The Demon leader just laughed and planted his scythe to the ground, the ground suddenly shaking and Toa could swear that he heard something trickling.

Toa's eyes widened as he realized what it was. A giant flood came over the desert in an instant, both armies being swept away, Aero being saved by a giant eagle that had been soaring overhead. While it began to fly away, in the face of apparent victory, Toa saw the scthe float to the surface of the water. It was pulsating with dark energy and began to float aimlessly over the water.

Toa thought about going to retrieve it when a bright light began to fill the world, and a cold hand seize him, until nothing but-

Toa woke up to rays of sunlight pouring into his room, and a cold breeze coming through the window.

I forgot to close the window. A once in-a-lifetime dream interrupted because I forgot to close the window, Toa thought to himself. While this seriously ticked him off, there was nothing he could do about it. So he got ready and decided to see Hoshiko.

He walked to Hoshiko's door, which was right down the hallway, and knocked on her door lightly so that if she was asleep, she would not wake up.

Aya's brow furrowed as she looked Carwyn in the eye. She was familar with the layout of the inn, and as she had stayed in that ground floor room many times before, she was aware that you could sometimes hear people out in the courtyard. But only if the window was open. And only if you were standing right by the open window.

"You were eavesdropping?" she asked him incredulously, knowing that was the only way he could have known what she had said about the coin to Kyo in the courtyard the night before. "On me?"

"Well, it's not like I meant to, Aya," Carwyn was quick to explain. "The window flew open during the night and I'd gotten up to close it." He looked at her with pleading eyes. "Then I heard you and Kyo talking. You both sounded kind of worked up, so I just listened, to make sure that nothing crazy was going to happen." He glanced at the swordsman. "I know you two are both mature adults, but this trip has been all kinds of unpredictable."

He looked back at Aya. "Really, I'm sorry."

"So... you were just looking out for me?" Aya asked tenatively. Not intending to look coy, she averted her eyes from him, then the corner of her mouth slowly upturned into a shy grin. "Thanks," she said softly, flicking her eyes up to steal a glance at him for a brief but tender moment.

Just then Renn arrived with their food, balancing a very large tray on his broad shoulders. "Sorry for the delay," he apologized, as he began to pass out the appropriate plates of food to everyone. "But," he continued, "as my mother always said, 'good things come to those who wait.'" He grinned at everyone. "Bon appetit!"

Kyo looked down at his food, mulling over the conversation between Aya and Carwyn. So now he knew about his need for the coin too...well, hopefully this discouraged the idea that they had slept together last night. He smirked at the idea as he began to cut into his eggs.

"So...me and Istergard were captured by some of what I believe were Wolf's thugs."

Well, it couldn't have been that bad of a capture if he announced it like that. Then again, they had been ignoring him...

"Well, you seemed to have survived just fine." Kyo said, looking up at him, "Did you figure out what his purpose was before you left?"

"Not really," He said, cutting another slice and eating it, "I was knocked unconscious before i could do anything, and when i woke up, Istergard appeared to already been prepared to take us out," Akira continued, still waiting for Aya's reaction.

"Ah, and, if you don't mind, i'd like to go with you," He slowly and lowly said.

Aya was just taking a sip of her orange juice when Akira announced what had happened to him and Istergard the night before. And while she was taking a moment to recover, he also let it be known that he and Istergard had both been knocked unconscious in the process.

"These thugs knocked both of you unconscious?" she said, her mouth agape. "How many of them were there?" She thought it must have been a lot indeed to capture two such warriors as Akira and Istergard.

Before Akira could answer, she looked at Carwyn. "Ranger or not, I think you should take someone like Akira along with you to the docks," she said to him. "Especially if Wolf's gang is sulking about town kidnapping people!"

She turned back to Akira. "Are you sure it was Wolf?" she asked. "Big guy, hairy beard, bushy eyebrows and with a permanently evil grin on his face?"
