Good question. I've read the Dune books, and no such thing is mentioned in any them. I'd guess it's a typo of 'Duncan', although people (nouns) aren't often used in the context of verbs.

 

In the cases they are, though, it usually refers to a distinguishing trait or action of theirs. Duncan is one of the main characters, though he never does anything that would warrant such a phrase.
