List your favourite cut Audio files

Recommended Posts

The Psychonauts Explorer rocks :D

Basically, just list your favorite unused audio files from the game files.

Currently, I'm exploring Milla's files a lot. A lot of her stuff got cut! Oh the unfairness...not to mention the fact she's the only camp counselor who doesn't get her own cutscene.

Anyway, you HAVE to listen to this MINO028MI ---> MINO030MI

I've seen it be mentioned on other forums. Mostly labeled as a 'Sasha make-out fantasy' XD

I'm sure if we got really bored and did the instant messenger thing at least one of us has those sound extracts. I could, I would...but not today, because I'm tired, about to nap, then drive 100 miles to my parents' for Easter (already drove 165 today).

Cut Audio files? Hmm.... I know from the E3 2002 trailer of Pnauts, Milla opened the trailer with this like "I am about ot warn you cadet, you are about to step into a living nightmare." and I was always fond of that line. It was nowhere in the game though.

Hmm, I could upload some of the stuff; but there's too many files, and I'm just coasting over those that have already been noted.

Wish that the Psychonauts Explorer had a preview button. Right now I have to save the audio files out before I can listen to them...

Anyway, how much is a PC Psychonauts over in the US/Whereever-you-live anyway?

In Singapore, it's...almost bargain bin. Retailing at $19.90, which is about...US$10-14? Also, it's rated M...but noone seemed to notice when they sold it to me XD (I'm 19, I'm just saying noone seemed to really notice...I didn't until recently X3)

An "M" rating? Whoa, that's weird. The ESRB gave it a "T" rating, while PEGI put it in the "12" age group; sure there's some violence and language, but an M rating?! I bought both copies (one for moi and another for a hopeful convert) and am disappointed that the US version uses 5 cds compared the the UK's one dvd.

And yes, it should be about $10-$15.

Well, moderate violence is written on the cover; but I doubt that's the reason.

In fact, I think it's because the testers played through and ACTUALLY LISTENED to the dialouge...which includes references to showing porno to minors, suicide, bullying, etc. etc. XD XD XD

Damn game-testers were TOO smart X3

Good point, Byakko; the ratings board should rely more on testers than the developers. The developers may neglect to inform the board of additional...issues...or may try to water their product down in order to get a rating more suited towards all audiences.

One day, I'm sure I'll pay more attention to the ratings but for now, I could care less if Raz wielded a pistol and katana and there was an option to let the cheerleaders succeed at suicide.

Is there anywhere you can hear them on the net or something? I don't own the PC version. Could you upload them or something? Please?

Fish, I don't think you'll find the audio files themselves uploaded anywhere--there's somewhere around 2 - 3GB worth of dialogue files, and sorting through all those to pick out the cut audio (which is scattered hither and yon) is a task bordering on monumental. I wouldn't wish it on anybody.

However, a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, I did pick through the audio files and transcribed all of what I thought was cut dialogue that I could find. (It was supposed to be uploaded on razputin.net, actually...that never happened, though. *pokes Thrik*) There's three files--one for all the mental worlds, one for the asylum, and one for Whispering Rock--all in PDF format, compressed into a zip folder. (Let me know if you can't open them for some reason; I also have them saved as .doc files.) It's about 220KB, so easy on even dial-up modems.

Download Link (sendSpace)

It's hosted at sendSpace, so the file will only be available for 7 days, or until it becomes inactive (IE, people stop downloading). I'm willing to reupload if it does go down and someone wants access to the files, since it's not available anywhere else that I know of. (Alternatively, if someone wants to give these things a permanent home, I wouldn't object to that. But omgcreditplz.)

Also, obligatory disclaimer: these are absolutely NOT guaranteed to be 100% accurate. I did these a couple of years ago in my spare time, and though I feel like I did a thorough job of weeding out what was cut content and what wasn't, I could always have missed something. Or several somethings. There's literally thousands of voice files for this game, okay?

If you own the XBox version and can get the files onto your pc, you can use Psychonauts Explorer with the XBox version.

I do not have the Xbox version. I'm screwed on all sides of the equation.

TyraaRane, thank you very much. And I see now it wouldn't be that easy of a job, huh? I think you're going to have to re-upload though. The link doesn't lead to anything.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you--but here's the new link, if you're still interested. It's a Mediafire link, so it should last considerably longer than the sendSpace one.
