Oooo, some real secrets going on Especially with what the Face of Boe said to The Doctor Can't wait until this Saturday! I even have my own sonic screwdriver! As for what Boe said, my money's on a second time lord having survived the war (Daleks have had plenty of survivors through various ways, why not the Time Lords) as opposed to it being a reference to the Doctor always having a companion with him or any other possibilities. Can't wait to see who it is. As for the future, this week we presumably have the return of the Dalek escapee from the doomsday invasion (end of last series), who at a wild guess wild instigate a long running subplot, climaxing at the end of the series and involving the second time lord. I own The Three Doctors episode, the four seperate volumes of the Christopher Eccleston series and the David Tennant series box-set for series 2, as well as The Resurrection Casket book. I usually don't like the future episodes (I prefer the episodes in the past), but Gridlock is one of the best. If anyone has read Wikipedia, it does contain spoilers for the future episodes, so if you don't want to know anything about the future episodes, don't read. Luckily, I live in England, so I get to see if every Saturday at 7:00pm. Everyone should know that I'm not the biggest fan. Time Lady perhaps? I know the Master is returning, that's already been confirmed so it'd be a letdown if that was what the Face of Boe was referring to. I love Doctor Who, but I live in the states. Why can't the BBC just up it to BBC America and call it a day? I can't wait for Sci-Fi Channel, they're holding out! As far as the new series is concerned Gridlock has been the best episode so far, those kittens made sure of that. But I have a Dalek fetishism so I can't wait to see the next serial. Series 2 had just started, when that Thread was active. Anyway, one thing I like and don't like about Doctor Who is its spinoffs. Torchwood, so far, is the only good one, despite its flaws, but other spinoffs with Sarah Jane Smith and K-9 seem pointless, just because they're two of the most popular companions of the Doctor. Sarah just seems like a human female Doctor with her Sonic Lipstick in The Sarah Jane Adventures. *Cough* Talk about being too similar *Cough*. I'm glad Russell T Davis cancelled the Rose spinoff set after Doomsday, since Doctor Who may become worse, due to its spinoffs. Just have one at a time. Sorry for that rambling. Captain Jack Harkness was a great character, he deserved more screen time than what they gave him. As for Sarah Jane Adventures, I believe her spinoff came in way too late. She was perhaps the most favorited of companions, and her being very similar to the Doctor, as in her encounters with aliens and the ever-dreadful sonic lipstick... well... that's to be expected, isn't it? Diego Varen Posted April 18, 2007 Share Posted April 18, 2007 One thing I've also noticed is that later in this series, the return of the Love and Monsters style episode is returning. It wasn't that good in Doctor Who and it worked slightly better in Torchwood, but I'd rather have proper episodes with the Doctor and company then some random people in the episode instead. Other than these faults in Doctor Who, I'm starting to really like the series overall and I'm looking foward to Torchwood, if there will be a second series. Lol yeah, that is annoying I thought the Torchwood spinoff was actually alright, but the thing that bugged me about it is that, Doctor Who is meant to be enjoyed by all ages, so it's alright for children sometimes But Torchwood was usually a rated 12 and 15, which i think is a bit of a blow for younger Doctor Who fans. The Sarah Jane adventures was just a load of rubbish I didn't like it at all and futhermore, i don't like too many spinoffs. To me theres only one problem with the Doctor Who series, it's that The Doctor and Rose (series 1 and 2) didn't travel off world, they stayed usually on Earth, except from one or two episodes. Now Series 3 so far has stayed on Earth, but i want more off world action, tell the writers "Don't you know that the TARDIS can travel off world?" They went to those space stations... even went to an alternate dimension (sort of a different planet). But I agree, for the most part they seemed to stay home... which was sorta dull... I reckon that the team for Doctor Who might not put in that many different planets to explore, mainly because were not in the 70s, clay models and paper plants would look cheesy I remember tthe Doctor travelling to some different planets in the old series but that's like over 10 years ago, i cant remember unless someones got any old videos to spare. I've been downloading the episodes from Limewire (no tangents, please) as they're televised across the Pond. So far, I'm going to go with the Shakespeare Code as my favourite, simply because Lilith was hot. Gridlock was great, because it canonised what Davies has hinted at many times since the beginning of Eccleson's tenure - the Doctor is not alone. I seriously cried with joy when the Face said that line. It was brilliant. Fantastic, even. I don't know who said it, but someone commented on the possibility of Rose coming back for an episode. This won't happen, I'm sure. Piper resigned for similar reasons to Eccleston - she didn't want to be stuck with Rose Tyler for the rest of her life. Look at every other actor who's played the Doctor or a companion. You don't see much of them after their tenure on Doctor Who, do you? Especially Tom Baker. He's done jack since '81. I can't wait to see what the Face meant. The Doctor seems so sure that he's the last of his people, but the Face has brought that into question - at least, for me, it has. The Doctor doesn't believe it. I think it'll be someone close to him, though. Possibly K’anpo Rinpoche. As for the Master, I really hope that they get a good actor, if they do bring him back - I always thought he was a weak character anyway. EDIT: That was Christopher Lee and his character was Saruman. How dare you belittle those movies?! An actor does not need to have an astonishingly maniacal voice or have a medieval classic look to be a villain. They do, however, need to be smart. So I disregard my own earlier comment. They would need to know how to move, what speech patterns to use, when to be calm, when to act out in their anger (or some other equally easily identifiable emotion.)So, you don't need to have a look or a voice, but you do need something specific to play a villain... ...genius.
