Jedi.Maverick
Yo again peeps, I really like the idea behind WotOR. What I did not like were the changes made to some of the weapons, as well as the properties on some of the new. I felt they were overpowered. I also did not appreciate the lack of weapon models (specially hilts) when compared to USM. And there were bugs making my game crash, now and then. So I've decided to collect those nice models made by the people involved in WotOR and use them on a new project along with some other very high quality models. Then I my skills with skinning and item editing began to improve. So I came up with a whole new idea. The idea is: - To replace all the standard color hilts with some very cool looking ones (WotOR's are not for these). ALL HILTS are to be replaced*. - Replace some of the unique weapons with those awesome looking models made for WotOR. Models like Sherruk's would go to previously existing guns, like the baragwin heavy repeater, for example. - I want ALL unique weapons to have their unique models. - Replace some of the unique weapons with high quality models found around (I don't think I'll go for weapon modeling)**. - Make some lightsabers to go with unique hilts found only once each (like those found on Sherruk). For example Bastila, Juhani and Jolee would have their own hilts (no properties change); People you kill or places you visit would have some more. Nemo's corpse would have Nemo's Lightsaber as an unique hilt to be found there, Lashowe, Mekel, Shaardan, the escaped sith students, Qel-Droma and his girlfriend would have their hilts (they are the two bodies on korriban's cave where you find Qel-Droma's robes), Saresh's saber would be found on the same terantarek you find Circlet of Saresh, Bandon, of course, would give his hilt, Sherruk and Calo would have each one hilt they got as trophy from Jedi and/or Sith they killed, and so on. All these hilts will be UNIQUE looking and not repeated. For example, Bandon's will be red and there will be no crystals, he's a sith and his hilt should be red and unique. - Change the skins for boh the Padawan's (Jedi Robe) and Master's Robes, maybe using different models for them. - Make things like Bandon's armor actually look as his armor when you wear it, not just some generic black armor. - Make robes with same stats as Qel-Droma's for both neutral and dark side. - Make each of these unique robes have it's own distinctive look. As you can see, I am trying to put togheter many of the previously existing ideas into something big. I do not intend to make the unique hilts have different properties as the common ones and I do not intend to change the original game balance, most changes will be purely asthetical. I have now some experience editing items and making them work in-game (been doing this for like the last week 20 hours a day ) and I plan to put some website online. There are some issues though: - Some people won't let their models be used by anyone, like T7nowhere who has already said NO when I asked to use WotOR stuff, maybe afraid of rookie modders to claim his work as their own, even as I stated proper credits are to be given to each person (nothing against you for your position specifically T7, jst giving you as example). Some models are really unique, like his, and I would not like to have any others for the places I imagine them. - I will need someone (as many willing to join) more experienced with modelling to lend me a hand while I design my hilts and maybe to design some quality weapon models by request (for example, make a specific looking model for Jurgan Kalta's Assault Rifle if I ask). - I will need someone with a good experience on robe skinning and/or modelling to make those new looking robes (again as many willing to join). Rookie modders as myself are welcome, as long as they are available to do some hard work and hard learning as well as following some basic directives from me and/or the more experience modders. The whole idea is to give a nice new looking to the game with as many visual (high quality only) changes as possible. I hope some people will be enthusiastic and willing to join and that I can solve the "copyright" issues (if not, the plan is to design new stuff ourselves where we can't use other people's work). Darth Payne
I agree, giving a unique look to the named items in the game is a very good idea. It always anoyed me that all of the weapons have the same look as every other model of the same class, the devs apparently only gave the different models new skins and stats. Darth Kalverys
I was already working on a robe like the Qel-Droma robes for the Dark siders and the Neutral people... I guess I could also re-skin them... but let me tell you that won't be that great... so I'll join.
Inyri
So I've decided to collect those nice models made by the people involved in WotOR and use them on a new project along with some other very high quality models.I don't know that the WotOR team is going to like that. I would strongly recommend that instead of basing your modding career on manipulating the work of others, you produce your own work.
Jedi.Maverick
The plan is to make about 50% or more of original work, however this will take at least like 2 months if i get a nice crew to join me.

You'll still have to speak to the WoTOR team and get permission before you can do anything. InyriForge is right about producing your own work, not only is that what's right, it'll be more rewarding to know that the work is yours alone. Qui-Gon Glenn
Thirded. And this... how can you plan on using material that you have no permission for? Sounds to me like it needs to be 100% original. I'd love to see it!
T7nowhere
@tomlutkus, You really should produce your own work. It makes things so much easyer. btw I said, "No." in my PM reply I did not Caps it.
Jedi.Maverick
I used caps here in the same way I would use " " or underline, did not mean to distort your original message, sorry T7. Yeah I plan on making at least 51% original content, so we could say it is original work. I could do all saber hilts original, but I still need more practice with 3D software, so far I've made a chess table with all pieces (following a tut). I also need experienced people to make other weapon models, since I consider hilts easy and the others hard and out of my scope (unless i spend an year or more on this).
