Dan Loto
Maybe Czerka dresses up a few of their guys in republic uniforms to make it look like the republic approved of their actions to offworlders I haven't laughed because of a post on a message board in a long time. @Dan: A big thumbs up for your work. I was always looking for a comprehensive site were all the done restorations were pooled together. Again: applause for what you did! That was mostly copy and pasteing. Most of the details are still in this topic. @Dan: I really don't want to bother you, but I am curious. As you created a totally new module, where did you find the NPCs you mentioned, and were there original dialogue left? Yes, a lot of it was left. zbyl2
05_9 - The Ebon Hawk Enters The Battle Near The Star Forge (Set before the ingame cutscene in which you contact Admiral Dodona, this small yet very well done cutscene for some reason never appears in the game. It would've made quite a nice little introduction to the Admiral Dodona scene.) [Ed Note: CG: this would be a very nice restoration for some skilled coder from the community to restore and insert this vid back in the game.] 07_3 - The Ebon Hawk Escapes The Sith Marauders - Variation 1 (Apparently, if you survived the random space ambuses long enough, this scene would've played. I've played the minigame a hundred times and have never been able to get this cutscene.) 07_4 - The Ebon Hawk Escapes The Sith Marauders - Variation 1a (The same as the movie above, but in a reversed camera shot.) Time for uptade list It's restored.
Seamhainn
#28. Apparently it was possible that Revan could discover a datapad written by Elassa to her Sith Master shortly before her death, inside the Sith Embassy. In it she says that she doesn't believe Sunry knew anything of value, and actually intended to murder him on the very same night the jilted Sunry killed her. Ironically, while Sunry had killed her in cold blood, he had unknowingly prevented his own death at the same time. I looked up the Sith Base on Manaan and didn't find any avidence regarding this rumour (item or dialogue). Does anyone have any hints where to find any useable bits or pieces to restore the datapad? Thanks and take care #4. An extension of the Taris Swoop Bike quest, in which a second level exists in the Vulkar base and the player has to disguise himself as a Vulkar to infiltrate it. (The module for this unused portion of the game still exists. However, it's incomplete.) That is restored for quite some time :-) -> http://knightsoftheoldrepublic.filefront.com/file/Restoration_of_the_Black_Vulkar_Base;86493 Same goes for #9: http://knightsoftheoldrepublic.filefront.com/file/Garrum_and_Tareelok_Restoration;86262 #33 (Thanks to Wolf for providing extra information). After purchasing HK-47 on Tattooine and talking to Yuka Luka again, HK-47 will ask whether or not you'll allow him to fufill his life long dream of killing Yuka. Unfortunatley, you're forced to deny HK-47 this. Upon further examination of the replies you can select for his request, it feels as though Bioware might've made it possible to allow HK-47 to kill Yuka Luka and put you in combat with the droid merchant. Further examination of the shop reveals a large amount of inactive droids. It's possible that, if attacked, the droids activated in order to protect Yuka. This means that not only did you get dark side points, but a chance at gaining some extra XP as well. Darth333 released a mod a while back that not only enables the option, it also featured HK-47 voiceovers I have never heard in any of my playthroughs of KOTOR. This may very well mean that Bioware did indeed remove the option to kill Luka. I can also see their reasons behind the deletion. After all, there aren't many merchants in KOTOR that deal in goods mean't for droids. [Correction Jan 2008: From Darth333: FYI Bioware didn't delete that option. The Yuka Laka mod is not restored content: it was my idea (and my first kotor mod ). I made the voice overs from cutting/pasting/editing other in game sound files.] MOD LINK - http://www.geocities.com/d333mods/other.html MOD PATCH - http://www.geocities.com/d333mods/other.html (This patch is actually a modified version of the DLG file in this archive. I took the time to fix some spelling errors and rewrite a sentence to make it more grammar friendly.) There is absolutely no avidence that the scene(s) in the droid shop were ever intended in a different way then they are actually shown in the game. I think this rumour showed up with darth333's mod. And a mod it is, NOT a restoration (as she also clearly says in her statement (!), which - as always - shall not belittle her accomplishments). I suggest, this should be scratched from the list. Seamhainn, please use the multi-quote function and refrain from double posting. No more ok, next one I will infract you for spam. I suggest, this should be scratched from the list. I think it was left on the list because of this: Upon further examination of the replies you can select for his request, it feels as though Bioware might've made it possible to allow HK-47 to kill Yuka Luka and put you in combat with the droid merchant. Seamhainn
I think it was left on the list because of this: I looked into the dialogue, and nothing underlines that statement! The rumour might or might not be true. Maybe something *was* itended with the other droids in the shop - maybe not. Nevertheless its a fact that nothing is left in the game one could work from to restore *anything*. For me its just a (false!) rumour which should be dropped from the list. No offence :-) ! FrustrationMan
Well, considering Yuka Laka was the only droid merchant on Tatooine, they might not have wanted you to be able to kill him, so that if you did, you'd have to go to another planet for repair kits. Darth333
I looked into the dialogue, and nothing underlines that statement! The rumour might or might not be true. Maybe something *was* itended with the other droids in the shop - maybe not. Nevertheless its a fact that nothing is left in the game one could work from to restore *anything*. You are right. However I have already mentioned it to ChrisG and that's why he posted my own comment at the end of the snippet you quoted above...I think it makes it clear that it isn't restored content: [Correction Jan 2008: From Darth333: FYI Bioware didn't delete that option. The Yuka Laka mod is not restored content: it was my idea (and my first kotor mod ). I made the voice overs from cutting/pasting/editing other in game sound files.] There was never anything that suggested that Bioware intended to have that option (and I've been through the files as I've made the mod). I just wanted to make HK-47 happy If I remember correctly he told me at that time that he was nevertheless leaving it there as he thought it was fitting well within the game and that he felt that the option should have been there. However, I would take no offense whatsoever if he ever wishes to remove it.
Seamhainn
Hm, I admire both your works, but as this is a thread about restoration work for K1, only those things should be listed. And I say that with all due respect! The same goes for the mentioning of the clones. Nothing is in the game that gives a modder any material to make a restoration. The same goes for one or two other mentionings. The list *could* be smaller and more manageable. ...and it deserves a sticky :-) .
Darth333
As I said above, I take no offense and I have no problems with my mod being removed from the list I was merely pointing out the fact that the author knows about it. ...and it deserves a sticky :-) Can't help you with that: as my title says, I am now retired. However, tbh, I would rather post a link to this thread in the "where can I find mods" sticky. Personally, I've never been a fan of seeing a forum cluttered with stickies and some people might prefer original mod content (this is still a list of mods after all). CrisG
Thanks Darth333, and as i have responded to other comments about slimming this thread, my hope is that it is a working repository of possible and achieved restoratoins, not the bible of FACT and the end all,....it is a way for ppl to see what has been achieved and what has been found or theorized about lost or unusued content or things that were cut. Anyone is welcome indeed to produce a slim and trim minimal version but this one is based on the work of Team Jawa and I kept that format as the basis for our continued efforts as part of the history of restoration. I will add some of the new work shortly, sorry to have been away and busy. And all comments and suggestions are very much valued and studied i can assure you for it is the continual and respectful exchange and mutual support here that makes this such a wonderful continuing community. Seamhainn
What Dan Loto and I found out regarding the Sunry Murder datapad: A datapad can be found here: file manm26aa_s>Blueprint, Item>w_sdatapad.uti. The w_sdatapad.uti clearly has the comment "About Murder Plot". It belongs / is put into the inventory of the placeable (at 37, 8, 58) comppnl001.utp, which implies it *should* be a computer panel. That placeable is indeed in the .git file (!) - I expected it would be missing. So the PC *can* find it and *can* get the datapad (!?). Unfortunately the placeable has no dialogue reference (!). Nevertheless comppnl001 has the Footlocker appearance (!). When I searched the dialogue file for Sunry references, I found a line which says something like "DOWNLOADING SUNRY FILE..." or somesuch (I have the German version of the game). Before and after that line are just empty entries (!). I would need a savegame in the Sith Embassy near the said placeable (footlocker or computer panel), as I don't remember an easy way into the Sith Embassy, and don't have the time to make a playthrough to investigate further. If anyone else found something out, any help would be highly appreciated.

WORK IN PROGRESS / INVESTIGATED ======================== #1. Trash Compactor Puzzle in Taris Sewers By Dan Loto #2. Sleheyron http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?t=186244 #3. Apparently it was possible that Revan could discover a datapad written by Elassa to her Sith Master shortly before her death, inside the Sith Embassy. Ironically, while Sunry had killed her in cold blood, he had unknowingly prevented his own death at the same time. #4. If the player didn't kill Juhani, the Jedi Belaya, from the Jedi Enclave on Dantooine, was supposed to have been captured and kept as a prisoner aboard the Leviathan. She would later discovered to have died in captivity. #5. Taris Swoop Droid Teleporter http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?t=185830 (When using the Teleporter some variables are not set properly in the game, and thus its not adviceable to use it!) YET UNRESOLVED =========== #1. In the fight with Rulan Prolack (the shape changing alien you're sent to kill for the Genoharadan), he always transforms into Jolee. However it seems he was at one time meant to transform into any one of your NPC's, even your PC. #2. There was an alternate way into the Sith base on Taris. The junior sith officers you meet in the cantina could later be talked to at the party for a chance to buy a pass card into the base. #3. Whats that??? MOD PATCHES - http://knightsoftheoldrepublic.filef...itch_Fix;78251 http://rapidshare.com/files/4525030...rna021.dlg.html (link changed, researching new address 1/20/08) http://files.filefront.com/tar08+dav.../fileinfo.html (address uncertain 1/20/08) (This is a modified version of the DLG associated with Davik's female slave. I removed the original dialogue the author made for Mission, due mostly to the fact that I really can't stand new dialogue lines without authentic voiceovers. In addition, I also added action brackets to a line of dialogue.) #4. The Sith patrol you meet in the Undercity was at one time in the sewers (or possibly it was a second patrol) and were much harder to fool (you'd have to show your papers and then pass a persuade check). #5. A little bit of unused dialogue near the beginning, Carth tells the PC to go back to sleep until their injuries heal. #6. More bits of dialogue seem to suggest that Jolee and the PC were meant to fight together in the Shadow Lands before he officially joined your party. Perhaps against the Katarns you see him kill? #7. After deciding who would rescue you, Carth and Bastila on the Leviaithan, there was supposed to be a quick cutscene where Carth, Bastila, and the PC are shown being taken prisoner by the Sith boarding party. A sound file associated with this content can be found in "\streamwaves\m40aa\cuts01" #8. An extended romance .dlg for Carth with a Female Revan, for a better executed beach Scene. #9. It appears as though nearly every one of your NPC teammates had something to say after you find the Star Map in Naga Shadow's tomb. However, as we all know, only your character is allowed to enter Naga Shadow's tomb. #10. In an early build of KOTOR, Uthar Wynn looked completely different. He resembled one of the sith who usually attack you during your travels. Thankfully, Bioware decided to give him a unique look and thus the bald tattooed Uthar we've all come to know and love replaced this look. Also, it appears as though some rooms in the sith academy on Korriban were removed. The doors next to some of the hallways actually opened and you could access new rooms. Thought it was strange you could only get into the library during KOTOR 2? Well, it appears Bioware had plans to include a library at the academy in KOTOR. I've provided a picture that shows evidence of these pieces of cut content. http://image.com.com/gamespot/images..._screen004.jpg #11. In early builds, you could actually talk to a bith. You know the aliens who played the famous cantina music from "A New Hope"? Those were biths. You could talk to the bith in question on Korriban. Apparently, the bith provided information on the academy and how to get in. http://image.com.com/gamespot/images..._screen090.jpg http://image.com.com/gamespot/images..._screen091.jpg #12. A Czerka depot could've been found on Korriban along with a quest involving the president of Czerka operations on Korriban. {There was evidently quite a bit of Czerka content originally planned for Korriban} If you wanted another chance to fight Czerka's corruption on the galaxy, this might've been your chance... until Bioware cut it from the game Pics in this topic: scroll down page for pics. http://www.lucasforums.com/showthrea...7&page=3&pp=40 PICTURES - http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/2946/shot0012jb5.jpg http://img175.imageshack.us/img175/6...or0000bct9.jpg http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/7...or0003bnc6.jpg http://img404.imageshack.us/my.php?i...or0004bqn3.jpg http://img405.imageshack.us/my.php?i...or0010bsh6.jpg http://img171.imageshack.us/my.php?i...or0009btm7.jpg http://img407.imageshack.us/my.php?i...or0011bah7.jpg #13. Juhani had additional comments about Revan. #14. Apparently you had to do some extra work if you wanted to enter the burial mound on Dantooine as evidenced by a sound file of Bastila talking about how to open it. The sound file can be found in "\streamwaves\m13aa\bast01". #15. Your character at one point in the game could threaten or ask a sith commander to help you. Sounds can found in "streamwaves\m40ab\injo08". {Dan Lotto Update: 10-08> This Takes place on the Leviathan} #16. At one point, you encounter an injured dark apprentice. Voices associated with this can be found in "streamwaves\m44aa\injs03". {Dan Lotto Update: 10-08> This takes place in the Rakitan Temple on the Unkown World. #17. The player could go back to Dantooine after escaping the Leviathan. The player could fight the sith occupying the destroyed enclave and look for survivors. {Dan Lotto found these sources that apply to this cut episode: 2-Dantooine Soldier. http://www.gamershell.com/pc/star_wa....html?id=40849 http://www.gamershell.com/pc/star_wa....html?id=40844 3-Sith on Dantooine (After Leviathan?) http://www.gamershell.com/pc/star_wa....html?id=40846 #18. Komad Furtuna (the Twi'lek hunter on Tatooine) had a lot of cut dialog. Appearantly the mines that he plants to kill the Krayt Dragon are effective in weakening it to the point it can be attacked. You had the option of helping him fight it or just standing back and letting him do his own dirty work... for once. #19. Some jawa NPCs were apparently cut from tat_m18aa. PROBABLY NOT DOABLE =============== #1. You could compete in a Pazaak tournament on Manaan. Existing Voice Overs hint at the tournament, but there are not enough Voice Overs, NPCs Scipts etc. left to make the tournament. #2. A possibility to buy parts for the Swoop Bike. On the Swoop Track on Tatooine, when the player talks to a racer named Nico, he can still ask Nico where there's a place to buy upgrades for the swoop bike. Bioware forgot to cut this dialogue. There is no possibility in the game to buy parts for Swoop Bikes, neither on Tatooine nor anywhere else in the game. This was maybe something the developers had in mind, but was dropped so early in the game that nothing besides the undeleted dialogue lines are left. #3. An alternate Star Map scenario where the map is located in the maw of a sarlacc. The player must navigate an underground Rakatan temple in order to locate the pit, and then figure out how to get to the map without getting eaten. [Dan Lotto Update 10-08]: After the interview with David Gaider, we know that it’s not a Rakatan Temple but a dungeon. There's a sound file associated with this quest that still exists. It can be found in "\streamwaves\m44aa\wrai06" And about the sound file… that actually goes in the Rakatan Temple on the Unknown world. It’s not related to the dungeon. They are seperate pieces of content PICTURES - http://www.lucasforums.com/showthrea...7&page=3&pp=40 (Keep scrolling down and you'll find them.) As the starmap is actually located somewhere else on Tatooine the dungeon could only be used for a mod. The module itself is in a very unfinished state and could only be restored by a very talented artist. Beside that a totally new story with NPCs, Placeables etc. has to be done to make the restoration worthwhile. #4. A quest that would have allowed the player to become a sort of Messiah of the Sandpeople and lead them against their Czerka corporation oppressors. No Voice Overs (from non-Tuskens), Variables or anything else is left in the game which one could work from. #5. You could go swoop racing on Kashyyyk, Dantooine and Korriban. Nothing is left in the game one could work from. #6. Davik Kang's second hanger. It could just be eye candy but it looks like Calo Nord's possible ship on the map. It looks like his room could of had a door to his ship. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...n88/DDavik.jpg And also Davik says "Make it quick, Calo. The Sith mean business. If we don't get to our ships and find somewhere safe, the bombs they're dropping will kill us all." Not to mention that Davik and Calo come running from out of nowhere a.k.a. the wall seperating the two hangers. But I think that it could just be nothing.[unverified at this point, being researched 1/20/08] Even if there were plans supporting this idea, its nothing left in the game. #7. Considering the fact that this is an RPG game, one of the ideas Bioware must've have been toying with was how many times players could level up. Even I was a little dissapointed that you could only reach a level 20 with your character before you could no longer level up. The level cap is hardcoded into the game and can’t be raised. As KotOR uses most of the rules of Wizards pen&paper rules of their (revised) core rulebook for the Star Wars Roleplaying Game, which has also a level cap of 20, it all sounds logical that KotOR also has the same level cap and was always intended to have it as such. #8. Early versions of the story included a subplot involving clones. Unfortunately, Lucasfilms ordered that this part of the story be cut in order to avoid giving away possible spoilers for "Star Wars: Episode II: Attack of the Clones". INFORMATION - http://blogs.starwars.com/DrewK/5 Nothing cloney is in the game. #9. Beleya's UTC file has scripts which show that Beleya originally could become a member of your party. If Belaya was *originally* supposed to join the party is at least debateable. Obviously the developers decided against it. As Belaya actually has very little Voice Overs in the game, it doesn’t make sence to add her to the party to substitute any other of the party members. zbyl2
YET UNRESOLVED [...] 05_9 - The Ebon Hawk Enters The Battle Near The Star Forge (Set before the ingame cutscene in which you contact Admiral Dodona, this small yet very well done cutscene for some reason never appears in the game. Here's the new link: http://www.masterzionosiskotorsite.com/Mods/Iriaz_Dantooine_Modules_Fix_Final.rar #4. The Sith patrol you meet in the Undercity was at one time in the sewers (or possibly it was a second patrol) and were much harder to fool (you'd have to show your papers and then pass a persuade check). I'm restoring this with the trash compactor puzzle. #5. A little bit of unused dialogue near the beginning, Carth tells the PC to go back to sleep until their injuries heal. Existing Voice Overs hint at the tournament, but there are not enough Voice Overs, NPCs Scipts etc. left to make the tournament. This could be done with alien VO's. Scripts aren't that hard to make unless you're me... #2. A possibility to buy parts for the Swoop Bike. This was maybe something the developers had in mind, but was dropped so early in the game that nothing besides the undeleted dialogue lines are left. I'm pretty sure this isn't restorable as well. But then again I've never modded swoop related things. As the starmap is actually located somewhere else on Tatooine the dungeon could only be used for a mod. The module itself is in a very unfinished state and could only be restored by a very talented artist. Beside that a totally new story with NPCs, Placeables etc. has to be done to make the restoration worthwhile. This would be easier to restore than...making Sleheyron You're correct in saying that us mere mortals can't do it. The star map would have to removed from the Krayt cave too but I don't know how much skill that would take. It would be just as hard as restoring the post-bombardment Dantooine which you put as "doable." #4. A quest that would have allowed the player to become a sort of Messiah of the Sandpeople and lead them against their Czerka corporation oppressors. No Voice Overs (from non-Tuskens), Variables or anything else is left in the game which one could work from. This would be another high level mod. It would be very hard to do. You would need human VA's and play around with HK-47's VOs. #5. You could go swoop racing on Kashyyyk, Dantooine and Korriban. Nothing is left in the game one could work from. Can custom swoop tracks be made yet? #6. Davik Kang's second hanger. It could just be eye candy but it looks like Calo Nord's possible ship on the map. It looks like his room could of had a door to his ship. Even if there were plans supporting this idea, its nothing left in the game. Nothing other than the picture on the map. #7. Considering the fact that this is an RPG game, one of the ideas Bioware must've have been toying with was how many times players could level up. Even I was a little dissapointed that you could only reach a level 20 with your character before you could no longer level up. I also do not think that this is "restorable." #8. Early versions of the story included a subplot involving clones. Nothing cloney is in the game. You can't argue with that. If Belaya was *originally* supposed to join the party is at least debateable. Obviously the developers decided against it. As Belaya actually has very little Voice Overs in the game, it doesn’t make sence to add her to the party to substitute any other of the party members. I'm inclined to agree. zbyl2
As with other team configurations, if Juhani and Canderous were part of the player's team, they were supposed to have dialog with each other. Specifically about the Mandalorian invasion of Cathar. If the player didn't kill Juhani, the Jedi Belaya, from the Jedi Enclave on Dantooine, was supposed to have been captured and kept as a prisoner aboard the Leviathan. She would later discovered to have died in captivity Out of curiosity, where are VOs for this stuff? Can't find it. (guess I just don't know where to search )
Sith Holocron
CrisG, were you missing a question #8 in your original list? Also, when you go through your list tp update it, could you have the most current mod links to KOTORFiles? (Some of the mod/restorations have had updates since your last refreshing of the list.) Seamhainn
Thanks for the input, folks! I updated my original post. I thought Darth Jeebus was working on this. Where did he go anyway?. I contacted Jeb via email, but until now he did not replay. Also I looked into the dialogue file and did not find anything that indicates that something was cut. I compared the original file with what Jebus restored, and there are no differences (?). This could be done with alien VO's. Scripts aren't that hard to make unless you're me... There are indications in the game that some of the players are humans and not all aliens (!). I consider the Pazaak tournament a major mod with many scripts, if done correctly. The only things that *are* left are some lines (two or three) that there *will* be a Pazaak tournament, and a dialogue tree with the *outcome* (lost / won). I'm pretty sure this isn't restorable as well. But then again I've never modded swoop related things. If done, you must manipulate how swoop races work (your swoop has to be faster, accelaterate more etc.). The question is, does that include any benefit (besides making the tracks easier)? This would be easier to restore than...making Sleheyron You're correct in saying that us mere mortals can't do it. The star map would have to removed from the Krayt cave too but I don't know how much skill that would take. It would be just as hard as restoring the post-bombardment Dantooine which you put as "doable." Actually the starmap isn't in said module, if I remember correctly. Nevertheless the module looks interesting visually. It also could easily be connected to the krayt cave (where it was intended to be, I think). If we find an artist who finishes the module, I am all for it! As of Sleheyron, Sith Specter, as well as Darth Jebus are lost in limbo, I think. As with all ambitious projects, I expect Sleheyron to be never be finihded. Nevertheless I leave Sleheyron on "Investigated on" :-) . This would be another high level mod. It would be very hard to do. You would need human VA's and play around with HK-47's VOs. I didn't find anything in the game which underlines the rumour. It would be a mod and not a restoration, as I found nothing so far that underlines the rumour. It could also be a false one... Can custom swoop tracks be made yet? I don't know actually. The question is, do we want more swoop tracks, and how plausible is a track on said planets?! Thanks for all the help!
FrustrationMan
Carth's cut apartment dialog file that Darth Jebus releases cut out after a few sentances and never faded back in after the first fade out, leaving you stuck in the dark apartment. The animation of the PC getting up was gone, too. I looked in the file itself and it was a mess. The cut dialog has voiceover, so it was really cut by Bioware. Jebus apparently got banned, as it says below his old posts. so someone else will probably have to do this instead. I would but I wouldn't know where to begin.
