Seamhainn
Okay, I want to give this a try and want to implement the Echani Mercenery on Manaan (as I am a fan of the Echani race, its a must do for me :-) ). As its a looong time I played the game, I have some questions which some players possibly can answer. 1. When the PC investigates the Sunry plot and questions the inhabitents of the hotel, does the PC initiate the conversations or are the conversations initiated by the NPCs? 2. During the investigation of the Hrakert Reef/Station, is there any avidence for some mercenary (Echani) corpses/remains, better yet dialogue between the party members about the dead mercenaries? 3. Does anyone know the status of the variable MAN_PLANET_PLOT? Thanks for any help! Take care
The Betrayer
1. The PC begins them. 2. Well there was a mercenary who will run to you once you reach the station and ask you if you have a submersible. Other than that, I don't think so. 3. No idea. Qui-Gon Glenn
1. PC initiates each convo, as per DB above. 2. The merc in the station is not Echani, nor are there any Echani down there. 3. MAN_PLANET_PLOT is a boolean. It can be several different values. I suggest looking at an old save through KSE. If it is numeric, you will see the different values, and if it is straight-up boolean, it is true or false depending on your actions. I feel safe thinking it is a numeric, and the different numerals would represent stages in the general plot of MANaan.
The Betrayer
2. The merc in the station is not Echani, nor are there any Echani down there. Yes, but I believe that the Merc also talked about some dead mercs, hence my response.
Seamhainn
Thanks both of you for your help! I really appreciate it. I assume I can implement the finding of the corpses/remains of the mercenaries somehow, without having VOs available for it. @glenn: I am pretty sure its a boolean variable, as you mentioned, and indicates the status of the progress of the quest, yes. Importent for me to know is, which value represents which status. Many of these variables are already cracked (Taris Arena, Juhani Plot etc.). Maybe someone knows the secrets of MAN_PLANET_PLOT also :-) . Thanks and take care
Seamhainn
Okay, I did some investigation: - The .utc and dialogue files for the Echani Mercenary can be found in the Ahto West module, which is okay as the merc will eventually show up in the Mercenary Enclave which is located in that module. - Nevertheless regarding the dialogue file of the Echani Mercenary the PC meets the merc for the first time in "his room". - The only "rooms" which qualify as private quarters as the dialogue indicates are in the hotel which is located in Ahto East. - As the merc can also be questioned regarding the Sunry Murder plot its another hint that the merc was originally suppost to be in the hotel. (Thats not a problem at all, as the required files can easily be copied from one module to the other.) - The only room in the hotel which grands access early on when the PC enters Manaan is the one in the upper left corner. The door to the room can be opened by the usual means (smashing it open or lock picking). The room is empty when entering it. If someone who is more familiar with Manaan has any better ideas, or if someone knows that the room in question is used for another purpose, I would be grateful for any hints or suggestions. Thanks and take care
Robespierre
What does the Merc actually say? Anything new? If he does, you might have to edit the trial dialogue. Also, would you consider restoring the datapad that you're supposed to find that says that the woman (I forget her name) was going to kill Sunry before he killed her? Since its the same area of the game, it might be convenient. Plus, I always like some irony in the plot.
Seamhainn
Hm, if I place the merc in the hotel, the lipsync is missing (of course). That is not all to bad as those can easily be copied. Unfortunately the dialogue for the merc telling the PC to leave the room and meet him in the Mercenary Enclave the next day does not fire. The dialogue is dependend on k_pman_planet03: [/code] int StartingConditional() { int iResult; iResult = GetGlobalBoolean("MAN_ECHANIR_DONE"); return iResult; } [/endcode] Unfortunately I don't know where the variable MAN_ECHANIR_DONE is set in the game. I looked it up with KotOR-Tool, but it appears that its nowhere else used. Any help, hints or suggestions are welcome. The merc has the same appearance as the one in the back of the Mercenary Enclave which has a small conversation with a Sith Officer when you approach them. I guess the new one is a substition for the deleted one... @Robespierre: The datapad is supposed to be in the Sith Base if I am not mistaken. I don't aim for that (yet). The merc actually does not have anything substantially new to say. Nevertheless he has some... um... interesting lines to say if you are with Canderous, and some lines regarding mercenaries compared to the Echani ones besides. Qui-Gon Glenn
Well, I thought I'd snoop around, as I am working a little in that area right now. So far, I have found that MAN_PLANET_PLOT gets set by k_inc_man.nss, but only regarding the Kolto portion of the plot. I found nothing in that script containing the MAN_ECHANIR_DONE. I will look around a little more and see if I find that... Edit1 - k_pman_28d_cmp* has value setting for MAN_PLANET_PLOT - again, regarding how you destroy the Kolto. Seamhainn
Thank you very much, glenn. I guess I'll drop the references for MAN_ECHANIR_DONE and associated variables as I am pretty sure those were supposed to work for the Echani Mercenary Quest. But as we all know, that quest was never implemented, and thus has no references altogether. And as I tend to change as little as possible with restorations, I'll use MAN_PLANET_PLOT which might work as well. So it would be great if you keep me updated with everything you might find out (the Sunry Murder Plot also, please :-) ). Take care Just for the record and those who might be interested, the variables for MAN_PLANET_PLOT seem to be: 1 - Intended for the vanished Echani Mercenary Plot and without a use in the game. 2 - Roland mentions the amphibious droid and asks the PC for help. 3 - Harvester destroyed. 4 - Kolto poisoned. Update: The hotel part is done, albeit somewhat unelegently to prohibit unlimited darkside points gain. The mercenary enclave part is next and essentially done. Just to answer the immense requests :-) ...
Darth Payne
I think i might like this mod. Are there going to be some custom Echani items in this that the PC can get? Btw, Seamhain? Shouldn't you be using the edit button?
Seamhainn
No, its just a very small, yet somewhat complicated restoration which only contains dialogue. Nevertheless if you are a fan of Canderous you might like it. Principally you are right regarding the edit function. But as my posts are made after five and three days respectively I took the freedom to abstain from that rule. Maybe an admin can merge them. Another update while we are at it :-) : The restoration is essentially done. I just have to check one more conversation tree... Take care
Mandalore_The_Great
Okay, I want to give this a try and want to implement the Echani Mercenery on Manaan (as I am a fan of the Echani race, its a must do for me :-) ) Interesting. . . I'm more on the side of the Mandalorians. They own faces.
redrob41
I hope you get it working. Everytime I've talked to that merc, I've always wondered why I couldn't find any lost Echani while wandering the halls on Manaan. Once upon I time, I even made a mod that changed his appearance so that he actually looked like an Echani instead of a smuggler clone (because I'm a fan of Echani too ). Seamhainn
Its essentially done. I just have to check one dialogue tree. Does anyone know which variable has the value for the bombardment of Dantooine? The script is k_con_dantgone.ncs, no source is available unfortunately. Yes, the appearance of the Echani NPCs is weak to say the least. I assume that the Echani plot was dropped so early in development that no images of Echani NPCs were created. A great loss for all Echani fans!
