of what that he said "suck it america i'm out of here"?

yeah, can't find that quote anywhere.

The most jaw-dropping of Bush's rule changes is his effort to eviscerate the Endangered Species Act.

Also claims like this with no evidence makes me skeptical.

I'd research it myself, but I'm a lazy ass and tired.

Here you go, then! Other sources include the LA Times and the New York Times.

Essentially, the law is made to speed up the production of federal buildings (roads, dams, etc), but without the independent oversight that would make sure no endangered species are harmed in the construction, there probability that more animals will be killed or that their habitat will be destroyed is increased greatly.

Dale Hall, who directs the Fish and Wildlife Service, said the change did not mean that agencies could build dams, roads or other projects without taking into account the consequences. [/Quote]

Yeah, there's out of office oversight, but there's still the people doing it. The probability of stuff being built however, is increased big time considering that there is no longer miles and miles of red-tape to go through to build the stupid thing.

Anyway, there never was independent oversight in the system if you read the article provided from the Washington Post. It says that the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the Fish and Wildlife Services are the reviewers, both of which are Government Services.

“The Endangered Species Act was never intended to be a back door opportunity for climate change policy,”

Sounds like the law was being abused and they fixed it. This doesn't appear to be a "F*** You!" thing, just cleaning up a law that's been abused.

At least, that's what quickly reading through the Washington Post and the New York Times tells me.

---

“Nothing in this regulation relieves a federal agency of its responsibility to ensure that a listed species is not harmed.”

There, it's not a license to do whatever you want with no thought to the impact.

WOW. Don't get me wrong, I'm no fan of Bush... but are you even serious? N.Y. Times? L.A. Times? I need real sources, not overly-biased newspapers, famous for Bush Bashing. Are there any federal sources available on this subject? Until I see something concrete, I'm going to have to remain skeptical. Not saying it's false, but I'm highly suspect of this.

Sorry pal, but if I find anything, I'll let'cha know. I hope it is all alarmism and nothing else, but, we'll see.

Someone will probably beat me to a federal link or something concrete since this was an accidental stumble for me...I've known this for awhile...Here is my outdated link: http://news.yahoo.com/s/politico/20081119/pl_politico/15758_1

...and now everyone is probably going to come at me with pitchforks because of my sloppiness in not putting up this link right away.

I assure you I wouldn't withhold this link to save-face, I'm disorganized..

However, I believe I said something regarding this in another thread a few weeks ago. Ending it with "hope you caught THAT one" to Obama. This is what we get with a new president. He can't call what he didn't see, he's new. Since blaming Obama for not stopping it isn't going to go anywhere.

I thought this is what every president does on their way out? The savvy ones catch it and halt it for further consideration, but I guess I misjudged savvy.

EDIT: Well, my my my! It looks like all the links to the .gov sites and to AP have certainly disappeared and the pictures have been either changed and/or reduced!!! --as if it didn't already have a sore credibility at best.

The good stuff has a tendency to not last long.
