DarthParametric
My first suggestion to you would be detail. Whenever asking questions always be as specific as possible. Vague open-ended questions tend to get little attention. What sort of mods are you interested in making? New models? New modules/areas? New skins/textures? New scripts/dialogues? What skills do you have? Can you model? Can you texture? Can you script/program? Are you a creative writer?

The typs of mods I would like to create are new areas, charactors and such. Also new parts of the story like dialouge between charactors. If you would like help learning how to Texture i can help you there that is my specialty I am also interested in texture! That would be great if you could teach me some stuff... Admiral_Thrawn
Welcome to the forums! Sorry that I can't help, I know about as much about modding as my mum does about fatfighter's. P.S: I dearly hope my mum doesn't read this post!
Clanker Killer
Well, Parametric, if you are looking for more specific info, here is what I want to do: Well, this mod does not affect the story alot... It makes Bastila a Jedi Knight instead of Padawan and makes Mission her former aprentice. On Taris if you talk of Bastila, Mission gets a "face" of deep thought and some dialougue is changed like if you talk of her past she reveals nothing until a funny reunion when you save Bastila. When you meet Griff, Mission's brother, Missions dialougue changes. She does not say he abandoned her on Taris but he left her at Bastila's mercy on Dantooine but she "escaped" to Taris on a Cargo hauler wher she met Zalbaar in captivity instead of Gamorian thugs. What do you think? And can you help? And if anyone wants to "rate" on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 the best... Please do!

DarthParametric
That sounds far too ambitious if you have no prior modding experience. Start off small and work your way up to big game-spanning changes. Also, keep in mind that mods with large amounts of modified dialogue for the main characters don't always get the best reception, due primarily to the lack of voice overs. Clanker Killer
Oh ok. Well thanks! I'll do the texturing and see how far I get and then I'll work my way up... EDIT: OK... So now that I have the stuff, what do I do? AGAIN. Please use the edit function rather than double posting. - Cz
Drunkside
http://64.20.36.211/showthread.php?t=143456 you go there and download the file. Then you read it. No skipping, read it completely!

I would have to agree with Clanker Killer and DarthParametric check out those tutorials, most of them are well thought out, well written, and thoroughly, explained. But it's much easier to start from the ground up. I.E. Learn to use KotOR Tool, MDLOps, K/GFFEditor, learn what modules are and other types of KotOR/NWN specific files are (uti. utc utp utt etc etc) and start small. create some new textures, then overwrite some items, then create your own items, then create your own heads/bodies, then create your own levels. I think this is basically the way I started and I still have a lot to learn and a few compiling errors xD. Hope this helps some and welcome to the forums, -Pete
Mandalore The Shadow
Find the thing you want to reskin place the file on your desktop and then open gimp with it and start editing onece you are done save it and place it in your override folder but this is just reskinning if you want a whole new item it is a little more complicated and i havent done it in a while so you might need to go to the tutorials for that one
