Darth Darkus
Hi guys and girls, I'm pretty new to the whole modding and skinning stuff and my question is the following: is it possible to place a photo of a real person as a texture on any of the heads in TSL (with some editing off course) ? I have downloaded the KotoR tool but I didn't figure out how it works yet but I've already seen lots of tuts concerning that so I'll get it to work I guess.... jonathan7
It's theoretically possible however I'm unconvinced as to how well it would turn out, you would need a photo editing suite such as GIMP (which is free); http://www.gimp.org/ or Photoshop (You can download CS2 free and legally here; http://www.toggle.com/lv/group/view/kl34537/Adobe_Photoshop_CS2.htm ) Then you will need to extract out the textures of the head you want to edit, and replace them with the new ones - you could do this by editing the current pictures and then saving them as .tga's in your "Override" folder. Hope that helps, and welcome to the Forums!
Canderis
You could do that. It would be hard though. You would have too break the picture up and get it to fit just right in the texture. Its not like just paste it on and done. You'll see how hard this would be once you get ktool working and look at a few textures. EDIT: J7 beat me. If your already skilled in Photoshop I look forward to seeing your work, textures are pretty simple; they rap around the model, so they are in a 2d canvas anyway. You may find this thread helpful with regards textures; http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?t=144809 If your having issues with KotOR Tool have you got the latest Microsoft Framework IIRC K-Tool needs that to run. Yeah thats the right one, must be another issue. in the mentioned thread is picture of a facial texture; is that how it looks? it seems to be a little cut off... Thats because the game mirrors the textures; so it only requires half a face.

If you wanted to photosource a face picture onto an existing head model, you'd have to make sure that your reference's features (Nose, mouth, eyes, hair) matches the head you wish to edit fairly well. If you know how to use photoshop well enough, you can easily move around parts, and make it look natural. I found a tutorial a while ago when I was curious on how people who model their heads make the textures so good. I found this tutorial that taught me how. I'm sure there are other tutorials out there that teach you how to do it better.
Darth Darkus
ok! I started trying yesterday and of course it didn't come out the way I wanted it to. triggergod: thanx for the tut that might be very helpfull! As you already mentioned there are problems with the size of the head... I'm not shure if I can post it here but I also can't post it in the modders section because it'S still WIP. Modders feel free to move anything that doesn't belong here! ok this is the reskin I did with parts of my own face. I also made the darkside hair a little darker 'cause I felt it would look better than grey. and this is the character selection screenshot if you take look at my avatar you can tell it doesn't look anything like me at all.... so I figured I could: a) try another head b) try to resize the parts of my face I used c) try to modify the head

Mono_Giganto
If you're looking for a head with a beard you might want to check http://www.kotorfiles.com and download any of the edits to Dopak's head; that might work for what you're trying to do. VarsityPuppet
Yeah, it doesn't look like your avatar, but even so, it's still an awesome texture! I think I may to try making my own head... Oh yes, Darkus... you should release those textures (the ones posted above) as a new head. If you'd like, I can make a portrait and set up a TSLpatcher for you. Darth Darkus
I have made some others, I'll post them later .... and sorry but what exactly does TSLPatcher do?
Mono_Giganto
I have made some others, I'll post them later .... and sorry but what exactly does TSLPatcher do? It's a utility made by stoffe that allows .2da files to be edited more dynamically. Essentially, instead of including preset, mass-conflicting .2da files, it'll append your info to the end of the user's .2da files, essentially negating .2da conflicts. No problem. Well, a few of the Dopak edits to texture on a full beard, but otherwise that's all I can think of. The beard on Jorran is a bit bushy, but maybe that would work? The General Vaklu head has a beard.. short hair.. but it does have a beard. Really, do release your skins. I already made a full beard on the "mexican" head with long hair selection screen: also edited the eyes and put my facial parts on again (I love myself hahaha) beard is the same from the the caucasian dude I edited before.... VarsityPuppet
Not bad! I'd suggest adding some texture to the eyebrows though.. and blending the beard into the skin a bit better. Since his face is flat, the beard might look a bit better if it wasn't so full.
Darth Darkus
you're right with the eyebrows. with the beard: yeah the blending could've been better but I played a while with it and didn't notice anything looking wrong ingame but I'll try to improve it!
