Qui-Don Jorn
-First off, and I know that probably no one else gives a rats about this but me but, the green saber blade looked horrible before, like a green core with a yellow glow - it looked like crap, but now it looks much much better. now it's proper green. -Being able to click on mission items without opening inventory is nice. -Upgradeable techblades and techstaffs..now I can get Qyzen an upgradeable techblade and stop wasting mission rewards upgradeing to a better blade for him. -I can now send loot and gear to my Sorceror and vice versa......awesome. -the whole reason I'm 32nd and still running around the desert has been addressed. Even though I did make it to almost 190K...now I can go ahead and get speeder training and not feel raped afterwards. -The customizable UI is nice..though I kept it the same, just scaled down a little bit. -Treasure Hunting will now sometimes drop orange schematics for crystals I think...*phew*, I was beginning to think hunting treasure might be completely worthless. mimartin
Yeah I saw some post on Twitter saying that the guild banks were wiped out along with millions of credits. Some happy campers on the official forums no doubt.According to Lynk's trip to the fleet, the bank and the credits are safe and sound right where they should be. Lynk Former
No guild bank items and credits were lost, no characters were destroyed, the fix was done sooner than expected and the servers put back online with no further issues. I'm sure they busted a nut to get this out to us asap but people are still going to say TOR is the worst MMO in the history of MMO's and then keep playing it and demand more free stuff. DarthParametric
you get sick of seeing whiney little *******s whine about every ****ing thing that every could possibly go wrong on the official forum and still whine about it even if it's right or awesomeAs is their right, paying a monthly fee and all. Welcome to the retail industry.
Lynk Former
I'll have to remember that. Paying a subscription fee gets me the right to act like a 4 year old.
DarthParametric
If it offends you that much, why go there? After all, you are one of the dark overlords of a private forum that you are free to sanitise to bring it in line with your sensibilities.
adamqd
I'll have to remember that. Paying a subscription fee gets me the right to act like a 4 year old. I'm not assuming I know all about you or anyone, But You've said it yourself, you haven't played MMO's before and you weren't initially going to play this game anyway right? Everything you see or discover is new and exciting its all a Bonus to you, and thats ****ing awesome, I wish I was in the same boat. But to put it another way, its like you were strolling down the street and you look down and find a $100 on the floor, you had no money before, you didn't need it, but its a nice amount, and you can go buy yourself something, your happy. Whereas me and a lot of people, its like I had my wallet stolen, somebody gives it me back and its in good condition, the leathers still shiny and clean, but theres $100 missing out of it. (For the record my problems with this game are content and design related, not trivial subscription and patch concerns, and MMO forums are ALWAYS like this, and they have been for nearly 15 years Lynk... Its a cesspool of trolls and bitching))
Lynk Former
Firstly, DP... before you start criticizing me about being an admin for this forum, you better stop and remember that I'm one of the folks here who has given members a hell of a lot of freedoms over the years. Oh wait, of course you don't know this, you really don't know much about my history here on LF and what I'm actually like as a person and what the membership here actually means to me. I've fought other members of staff for you guys and I've even once quit being staff of this place for a whole year because I hated the way some members were being treated before I realised the error I had made. Run a sanitized forum? If it really were that sanitized, do you think either of you or myself would be posting any of these posts as they were? I'll let you mull that over and you can PM or VM me your reply. As for the topic at hand. See, now you two are just assuming that everyone who pays money for everything can't actually become unreasonable. The saying "the customer is always right" goes right out the window if the customer seems to lack all common sense and decency. I know, I've worked at places in my time when customers have called in demanding the craziest things and if they don't get what they want they get highly unreasonable, one even threatening suicide if we didn't comply... I kid you not. Well most of the people there seem fine, and their criticisms of the game make complete sense. These are the people who want their money to be spent on something reliable and don't want to be screwed over by the dodgy salesman. These were the people who were worried that TOR would be packaged with Origin, these were the same people who expressed their concerns about the fairness of having only lv50 players being rewarded with 30 days free. However, I'm really amazed by the crazies in there who get absolutely nuts about every single aspect of the game, who complain constantly about every tiny detail. You';re right adamq, this is my first MMO so maybe I'm not used to the amount of craziness that ends up being posted in the official forums of an MMO, but some of the things I've seen seem downright disrespectful even to me... and that's a pretty damn rare thing for me to think about anyone. Unfortunately, I've also learned that as a staff member here and as a general player of TOR, I can't really avoid the official forums. There are a lot of resources there among the crazy both for the general public and for fan-site staff that are useful. I dunno, this really is just my opinion, and as has been said, people have a right to their opinion... even if it's a negative one... funny how it makes you feel a certain way and makes you want to challenge the opinion once it's a negative one doesn't it Just depends who it's focused at, I guess. DarthParametric
I wasn't criticising your role (or any that of other mods/admins), merely pointing out that here at least you have control over that sort of thing, so you wouldn't have to put up with it if it was that big a deal. As far as retail experience goes, I worked in retail for many years before going to uni and doing various degrees and research over the following decade to escape it, only to pop out the other side and start a business manufacturing and retailing products/services. I don't claim to be any sort of sales expert, but I have my fair share of experience dealing with customer needs, desires, and complaints, both logical and irrational. Can customers be unreasonable and petulant? Absolutely. Is it justified? Sometimes, but mostly not. Does that make a lick of difference either way? Not if you want to stay in business. Dealing with unreasonable demands is part and parcel of retail sales/service.
Lynk Former
But I'm not BioWare, i'm just an observer who is amazed by the asshats so I don't really HAVE to tolerate their asshattery like they do. So if folks start acting all high and mighty, saying that developers are so worthless that they can be bought and sold a dime a dozen and that their dog could do a better job making this game, I look at that and think "that guy is an idiot for saying such things."
DarthParametric
I didn't say you were Bioware. Sure, you don't have to tolerate them (as I have previously said), but they do. And seeing as it is their forum, it will remain a cesspool in perpetuity (as are all MMO forums, as adamqd said).
Lynk Former
I don't know... as a paying customer, all of these other customers whining about things they feel entitled to when all they want is free stuff just for the sake of getting free stuff seems pretty annoying I think I better complain to BioWare about it... ...maybe if I complain enough BioWare will give me something for free, I am, after all, entitled to it. DarthParametric
So moving back to the topic at hand, I popped in for a brief look or two over the weekend. I could be wrong, but it seems like most of the Legacy stuff I recall them talking about for 1.2 is now coming in 1.3. Leaving that aside, I have to say I'm not overly impressed that most of the stuff is just another money sink. I had thought the idea was to give bonuses to alts as a reward for hitting 50 and help reduce some of the grind, but it seems like you'll have to drop hundreds of thousands or even millions to unlock some of it. Edit: The Jugg, Sorc, and Sniper all had their trees reset as well. A brief skim of the patch notes seems to suggest it was mostly just putting certain talents higher up to stop hybrid builds. Seems a great way to encourage diversity. I gather there was also some nerfing going on. When I left it was Operatives/Scoundrels. Who's copping it this time? Lynk Former
Vanguards came out even and even a little ahead, Commando's lost debuff stacking with Grav Round, Gunslingers got hit, Scoundrel healers got a boost, Marauders came out better, Operatives came out about even, maybe better, Sage healers got nerfed... lots of ups and downs all across the map. adamqd
Marauders came out better. Yea, I have a 34 Marauder I haven't played for months (Time constraints), but popped on him over the weekend and he's nearly viable in PVP now, I like what they've done for him. mimartin
Scoundrel healers got a boost,Yes they did. To the point where Lynk and Mav were able to pull off a HMFP without a forth with me as their healer. Something that I know would not have been possible before 1.2. I didn't do anything different, but was way better at managing my energy since the patch. Never ran out of that, when we died, it was either because I was still too soft or because at least two of Lynk, Mav or me were taking heavy damage at the same time. Scoundrel still don't have the huge burst of heals that Sage's had and we still have to manage our energy too. Sage healers got nerfed... they are in the same boat with us now. I feel bad that they got nerfed, but either they had to be nerfed or Sawbones needed close to the same ability. I always felt like I let the group down, because I couldn't heal as much or as fast as a Sage. To the point that I was thinking of giving up my sawbones and make a run as a sage. Lynk Former
It's the opposite for Sage's from what Kus has said... he's having trouble managing his Force after the updated which means there are large period of time where we end up with no heals at all. Luckily I have quite a few defensive cooldowns I'm able to use, but it still gets extremely tight and we sometimes get right down to the wire... so Sage's have a huge burst, but their Force runs out pretty quickly if they're not careful. The latest flashpoint, The Lost Island, is especially hard on them... as well as melee dps players.
mimartin
Well before 1.2 Sage's had unlimited Force, if they half way knew what they were doing, so I know it will difficult for the to manage it now. Sawbones, 1.2 made it easier, because they made it easier for use. We are already use to managing our Energy, what they did was make the cooldowns shorter and Diagostic Scan and Kolto Cloud more useful (IMO actually useful at all). Again not saying Energy is unlimited, but compared to what I had to work with before 1.2 it is night and day. I even used Flyby on that last boss without fear of running out of Energy and I knew I was going to die. My only thoughts there was to make sure Mav had as much health as possible (which he was full at the time) and do as much damage as possible to the Boss so Mav had to last less time before the boss was dead. If they would have cut down the cooldown to my shields, I would give my first born to BioWare, as it is I am very happy with 1.2 so far. Happy for my Sawbones...Like I said before, I'm really feel bad for Kus and the other Sages, but unlimited healing ability was unfair to other healers and in PvP. Lynk Former
So I did a little experiment after logan23 asked me about this today... There's this really awesome looking Bounty Hunter helmet that I put in IMB's guild vault, a red one that looks kind of like a cross between Boba/Jango Fetts helmet and the helmets the red Imperial Guards wear. I took advantage of the new mailing system and used Silvana to send this helmet to Lynk. When it arrived on the Republic side... the helmet changed... it was no longer that awesome looking Bounty Hunter helmet that it was on the Imperial side, it was a crappy looking bucket duck-face helmet no one uses cause they look completely lame. I sent it back to Silvana and again, magically, it returned back to its original state. So yes, while you can send gear across the faction line... you may not like the results as it comes out the other side... or perhaps things may turn out to look much cooler than you had previously thought. CrisG
re Bioware, and player comments, i have studied Bioware and their games for over a decade now, and some in great depth, and they are one of the very best if not among the VERY best Game developers yet in CGI game development. They have developed some fantastic titles with great depth, amazing style and quality and their staff of writers, coders and the design teams are at the very top of the heap. They also seem quite wiling to tolerate a lot from the fans and to deal with the comments and complaints very well, I have been very impressed with the QC and the depth and speed of support, and have hit only one bug so far in the game, one dialog conversation that i had to reboot to get to run, mostly due to some particle effects that were implimented on a vehicle close to the NPC in question ...but over all, BW is one fantastic company and this is one of their greatest successes. I have looked at a LOT of MMOs and they have taken a lot of the standards and pushed them higher, and created one fantastic 3D world to run it all in. Top marks all around..and i am really enjoying all of this. Being an admin myself and dealing with public and industry comments from both sides, it is indeed amazing what some people feel and say, but as others have said, it comes with the territory. I think both Jedi, and Sith Masters AND forum and company mods have to have nerves of steel and other organs equally strong A big heart helps too, for the bottom line is having fun and enjoying it all. I have tested this with credits, just to let you know they came through perfectly and Agent put them to use with no problems. It also worked fine with the implants I sent to my agent. So those on the Meatbag side, just like the TWC, my smuggler is willing to send you Implants and a limited number of Adrenals, Medical, and Stimulants as you level to 50. Just PM me here, catch me as I play my agent, or find me on the Republic side. I need to know your Level and the Primary Stat you want the Implant for (since I don't know if it is for you or your companion).
