I'm on LemonHead's side, also.

But to avoid offending anyone, just substitute that word with: "queer"

 

"Queer" means: to spoil or otherwise ruin the success of... As in: "To queer a deal.

or it can mean: Unusual or out of place. As in: "That is a queer thing, indeed.

 

Seems appropriate to me.

Look, buddy, I received complaints about your use of the word "gay", we discussed it, you said you weren't going to use it in that context anymore, now let's leave it at that. Does that sound like a good idea?
