Ok first note, Mods, I don't know where this belongs exactly. I thought it would work here becuase it does involve JK 2. Your opinion might be different though. Sorry for the inconvenince if it belongs somwhere else.

Anyway, today Aspyr (a Mac gaming company) announced Star Wars Galactic Battle Grounds. While this is not directly related to JK 2 it is very good news for those of us who own a Mac and hope to see JK 2. Lucas Arts for a long time now has ignored Mac users. But with the return of Escape From Monkey Island and now Battle Grounds I would say our chances are looking good. That and the fact that Elite Force was ported to Mac, makes me hope that not too long after the PC release we will hear of a Mac version. Just trying to inform the Mac community (although I may be the only one :-( )

P.S. this board has banner ads strewn everywhere, right over the main part of the forums, is it just me?

Im not a mod but I think your post belongs here

I dont use a Mac, but Id like to see the game ported, because that would only bring more people to the community, and the more JO players the better :)

Yes, your thread belongs here, because it raises the question (again) of whether JKII will appear on the Mac platform. I too hope that it does, for the same reason as digl...a wider community. ;)

Doing it for Mac and doing it for Linux are two different things. As a Mac version we have a porter that ports them to Mac and then a publisher that publishes it. All we need from LA is permission. With linux I am not aware of a company/'s that does this. So it would have to be somthing from LA.

Everything goes through LEC.

So a MAC port goes through LEC although another company might do the actual porting of the game code.

Same goes for Linux.

Was there a Linux or MAC port of Elite Force?

If you want a list of Quake 3 engine games for Mac I will give you a small one.

1. Quake 3

2. Alice

3. Elite Force

Aspyr (a Mac company) has also released Escape From Monkey Island. What I meant to say is LA probably wont be porting or publishing it. they would probably be the one's who nod thier heads and say yes that's right. ;-)

That's right, they hold overall control over their game titles but other compnaies are allowed to port them, or even develop them. Pretty smart!

I'd like to see an updated FAQ on these questions since we are getting closer and closer to the finished product.

Mac support? Linux support?

Which windows version will it support if it will be supporting windows at all this time(win9x)(win2000)(win NT)(WinXP)?

Or will it strictly run off the Q3 engine?

Will the game support DOS?

:syoda:

I don't think we will ever see DF2:JK ported ... too old, and proprietary engine. I can't possibly see the business model that would support it ...

As for JK2, I am hoping ... I like my TiBook (Titanium G4 Powerbook running OS X) more than my Dell Inspiron 8100 ... but at least I have the choice - didn't have to wait for the Mac version of RtCW, but I am playing Elite Force on the Mac now.

I'd be easy to port, all the other Q3 games (or most of them, I think) were ported to Mac. It'll be on Linux first, however, since Linux is great for dedicated servers (anyone else sick of that 72 day lockup bug in windows?)

LOL, That petition is mine and a person freinds. Yah Lucas Arts probably wont address it. I would say 1 month after JK 2 will be out for PC it will be announced for Mac and due about 1-2 months after that. You could e-mail Aspyr (The company likely to port it, if it happens) the website is http://www.aspyr.com, look for a e-mail and send them your opinion.

I don't know how much you know about Mac gaming. A porter from Westlake interactive named Brad Oliver has said that if LA will allow him he will port it for free. We had a very sucessful petition, over 2500 signatures. So don't get your hopes up but there is a small chance.
