Bots ???

Because I have a crappy internet connection I dont play multi that much.

 

I was wondering how good the bots will be...

 

1:Will they actually fight jedi like(standing ground, that sort of thing) or will they run around crazy?

 

2:Will you be able to udjust there options to the extent of like Unreal Tornament(personality: aggressive, passive etc).

I'm also on a sad net connection, so I may not be playing MP online much. Bots are pretty much essential from my POV, and from what I have read in the interview with Kenn Hoekstra at PCZone, they should be very challenging in JKII...

 

The "Jedi" AI (the enemy lightsaber users aren't technically Jedi, just as Darth Maul wasn't a Jedi) is another matter altogether. Their AI is totally new and from scratch. Their requirements are totally different from those of Stormtroopers. They need to be able to follow you and stick to you and attack as effectively as possible. The path-finding here is difficult enough because they need to be able to jump anywhere you do and follow you anywhere. Aside from that, they need to be able to counter all of your non-saber weapons and, in saber to saber combat, they need to read your attacks and respond with evasive action (whether it be a block, a dodge or some form of acrobatic move). They also need to know when to use their attacks and what kinds of attacks to use (including their Force powers). All of this behaviour is also under the influence of their aggression, which ebbs and flows as the battle goes on, much like lightsaber combat in the movies. With the vast array of saber attacks, defences, acrobatics and special features (backstabs, flip-attacks, saber-locking, etc.), I have to say that this game has the most movie-like lightsaber battles outside of the movies themselves.

 

I am assuming this relates to MP bots as much as the Jedi opponents in the SP campaign. A feature that I hope makes it into the game is the ability to tweak the difficulty setting of the bots, in a similar way to UT. I don't expect them to be anywhere near as configurable (in terms of skins, faces, jumpy, aggressive, dead shot etc...), but if they could also auto-adjust to your playing style and ramp up the difficulty on the fly, it would certainly be very good. :)
