Review Summary

"A consistently excellent, always varied 3D shooter. The Star Wars game fans deserve"

Plot Details:

you get to fight alongside Lando (voiced by Billy himself) and Luke.

Fight against the Reborn - a dark side cult and Shadowtroopers who weild lightsabers.

First Level: armed with only a stun baton + a Bryar Blaster you must gain acces to an imperial outpost (by shooting the main doors with a gun emplacement) then Jan helps you infiltrate the outpost

You get to control a r5 unit and a mouse droid

controllable vehicles in later levels (at Yavin)

the final boss is a dark Jedi "whose appearance is bound to suprise you."

The Plot is not covered that much as it would spoil it

I do not know how much of this you already know, but i hope some of it is new.

I will answer any questions later.

great news!!! but...

:ball: /me wants the mag!!! but I cant get it :ball:

Damn, as if I wasn't excited before! Now I get to know that PC Gamer gave it 92% and all those praises... AAARRGHGHGHHH!!!! I'M GOING MAD!!!! I can't wait 'til the end of March! I've honestly never been so excited over a game. My hands are itching to get the box in 'em.

You expect Jedi Outcast to 'beat' Half-Life?

Has Raven ever given off the impression they were going to change the FPS landscape with JO or uttered the ambition to do so?

If you're really looking for a game which has the potential to rival HL's impact on action gaming, wait for Duke Nukem Forever.

BTW, perhaps you shouldn't compare a 3 year old score to a recent one, the theory is that the overall standard by which games are judged has improved since then (though I personally don't wholeheartedly subscribe to that theory).

"I thought they reviewed the final version. Where did they say it was the beta.......if it was a beta review then it would still be a preview..........you cant have a review until you see the final product"

I thought the consensus was that PC Gamer UK reviews beta copies of games whereas the US PC Gamer waits until the final release. The UK fans have been saying this the last few days on this board.

Go tell that to PC Gamer UK.

Yup, that's the ticket.

I got that magazine through the post as well. I've made that video available on Morpheus - but I warn you its a HUGE download.

The version PC Gamer reviewed is a late beta, so while it may still have a few bugs, the content is identical to the finished game - so 92% is what its worth. That may not be the highest ever (96% btw, tied between Half-Life and Civ 2) but its pretty damn good.

Another point: Don't think that the review was delibirately suger-coated after Lucasarts gave PCG:UK the exclusive. I remember when Bullfrog gave PCG:UK an exclusive pre-release review of Magic Carpet 2. They gave it something like 44%, then nobody bought the game. PC Gamer UK gets criticised a lot by other jealous magazine editors, but in my opinion its still the best PC games mag around.

LOL indeed

If i remember correctly (some details may be off, or i may have gotten it all wrong), a long time ago already, they reviewed Grand Prix 2... and had something on the cover like, Grand Prix is BACK...

Anyway, the game was supposed to come out just after the magazine would be in stores, BUT, it was POSTPONED and not just by a week but by a couple of months...

And there they were with their "It is finally here!!!!"

IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY

but something like this DID occur and i think it was with them

Hey ukdag69 what is the Morpheus filename to search for it? Also if at least 4 or 5 of us on this board get the file and keep morphues running the d/ls will be super quick for the rest of the people out there who don't have it.

I have cable and as soon as I get the file I will keep it up on Morphues. :)

No it wasnt their fault, BUT, i believe that back then they were still saying that they onyl reviewed finished games...

that made it REAL obvious that it wasnt true

also, tell us, what is in the movie!?!?!?

aswer some of our questions already posted :):)

like:

how long is the movie, what resolution is it, is there any other Jedi Outcast stuff on the CDRom/DVD besides the 94 meg movie, WHATS IN THE MOVIE

and what is it called so we can try to find it on morpheus :)

The movie looks perfect full screen at high-res, which is why a few minutes of coverage stretches to 92mbs. I think the trailer was a little poorly made in places though. Its an extended version of the trailer they put up on the website.

I can't remember the filename exactly, something like outcast.avi. Just look for a 92mb movie uploaded by username UKdag and Bobs your fathers brother.

Exactly... "wait for DNF" - I've added DNF to my other list of wanted games from 3DRealms... right behind Prey.

JKII was rumored, announced, developed, and about to be released.

DNF was all of the above several times, been in development for god knows how long, and still has no solid release. We think *maybe* it will come out this year, but it's not worth caring about since you can't hype something that doesn't exist.

As for knocking Half-life off the hill: no developer aims to take another specific audience. While many people disagree, the last few major FPSs to be released... sucked. Max Payne was great SP play... but after beating the game, I lost interest. The very next I was back to Half-life/CS/DOD.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein: So-so single player... boring multiplayer. The story in rtcw was a little out there for me. The MP aspect was fun for maybe four or five days... back To HL/CS/DOD. I had more fun in the MP-Test.

Medal of Honor Allied Assault? Sure it beat RTCW.... but it's still the same old stuff. After playing this at a buddies... I didn't even purchase it.

JKII on the other hand is something totally new. New weapons, force powers, a STORY, and one hell of a lightsaber. If people don't flock to this game, I'll be very surprised. In fact, it's one of the few games that does stand a chance to get players from the half-life community.

Unreal 2, Quake 4, Doom 3... all viable canidates for excellent FPS's... but also down the road. JKII is now. It'll give non-starwars fans a chance to have fun at a different type of FPS.

(/me throws his 2 cents in the forum mix)

A lot of porn of the strictly male-male variety to be exact.

Not too surprising if you realise which activity "jo" is an abbreviation of.
